Physiotherapy(BPT) some realities
1)The vast majority of physiotherapists are unemployed or in low paying jobs and many have sought other employment for livelihood.
2)There are over 5060 physiotherapists passed out in South India alone. The number of physiotherapists required in a 200-bed hospital is just one. Those who have studied in previous years are remains here unemployed, then how many hospitals will be needed to get them jobs here.
3) It is a fact that the job opportunities abroad are decreasing drastically every year. Migrant physiotherapist , in UK, US Canada are working in petrol pumps, supermarkets and hotels. Only natives of respective countries only getting jobs in Gulf countries
4)Many hospitals now converting their physiotherapy department to Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR)HOD will be physiatrist (MBBS DPMR )role of a physiotherapist in this department is just a helper
5)Since there is no regulatory authority(council) for physiotherapy in India somany unautherised practices (quakery)going on in this field This also reduces job opertunities
6)Now a days new threat also there... Bvok physiotherapy that is common in normal arts collage only 3 years, course. Hospitals appoint these people with less salary
7)In big hospitals physiotherapy is under physiatrist when it comes to small hospital it is under nursing suprend. It is duty of physiotherapist to pull physio machine trolley to bed side of each patient in wards for treatment their condition is bad than ward boys
8)Running own clinic need huge investment no patients approach physiotherapist directly. Reference from medical doctors is a must usualy they give pain killers to patient or ask commission for each reference. Majority of clinics closed already or in loss
9)"Physiotherapists are called as doctors "" these are only just canvasing words of agents during admision. In practical sence none of the hospitals, gov bodies allow this
10)Going for MPT (post graduation)not makes changes there is no propotionate grouth in income after doing that. Main aim of mpt holders are to become professor in bpt collages but collages appoint physiatrist (MD physiatry)as professors & principal in collages
11)If a person join BPT who are the benificiaries. Career guidance people who took admission will get commission. Collage authorities will get donation fees fine etc in huge amount After struggling 4 & half years. Private hospitals will appoint him as a trainee (slave)with out salary and charge him thousands for experience cirtificate after some years this physiotherapist will quit physiotherapy field for livelihood

Yes, MPT is needed now, as after BPT a driver will earn as much as you and he will only drive an ac car and sit for the rest if the time and you will be working and breaking your back doing physiotherapy.

Please note, specialization is always good in any field of education, I would suggest try for any western countries or any good university/institution where you can get, the best practical knowledge and learning, Which is very very important for physiotherapist.
Remember! one thing, "Physiotherapy" is not just gaining degrees....??
Its all about Understanding, Feeling, Localizing, Stabilizing, Mobilizing......
Correct and Appropriate applications of forces...!!

For one to gain all this, B.P.T is enough..!!
MPT /Specialization may give you kick start in your career whether own clinic or in the job, but sustaining and satisfying patients and self-satisfaction comes with properly understanding, what physiotherapy is??
When your patients are happy, money follows you, no matter where your clinic is or where you work...!!
As far as the USA is concern, Indian B.P.T would fetch you around 120 professional credits & 8-18 general credits.
By the way, Masters in PT, USA = 90 professional credits, and 60 general credits.
You have to fulfill the 'general credits' for license...

Of course my friend. There is a misconception among some people doing physiotherapy and they assume themselves to be medical doctors. They even go as far as to claim that they're qualified to diagnose illness and prescribe medication. They cheat unsuspecting patients and general public which is clearly a criminal offense.

1)Major portion of graduates passed out dont have job or working with very less salery many physiotherapist left the field for lively hood
2)5060 physiotherapy graduates passed out each year in south India itself. 200 beded hospital only need 2 physiotherapist . Students passed out previas years remains hear as jobless how many hospitals should be there to accomodate this huge number
3)Job opertunities abroad also reducing substatialy each year, physiotherapist who migrated to US UK Caneda Australia works in supermarket Hotels petrol pumb etc.Many gulf countries now appoints employes who are natives of that country

Paramedical staff are second class people in hospital.Salary is very less If he is fresher they dont get single pisae salary he should pay for exp cirtificate. Private hospital exist only by exploiting unemployment in this field. Is there any private hospital that give minimum wages to its staff

Dear Moushmi, thanks for writing to me, it is not necessary, but if you want to practice in abroad, especially in USA, then it is necessary to do D.P.T accredited by CAPTE/APTA ...as MPT is phased out and DPT is only acceptable degree as per 2020 vision. let me know if you have any more question..!
