Dear Nabeel, the motive behind this video is to spread awareness in public about the usage or I would say correct usage of term "Doctor". Yes you can, but do mention suffix PT, while writing and do mention your profession while addressing..for eg. say "Dr Nabeel .. and say I am a Physiotherapist" , we make sure we wont mislead and confuse the patient and public by just telling "Dr." or also not telling "Dr." But we shall use the term correctly...Hope I answer to your question! You are the future of physiotherapy, Study well and make a difference... Patient see hope in us...please dont let them down and they are the real supporters for us tomorrow..just do your best ! Practicing this is an offense in the eyes of the law and the said person is a quack and can be dealt with imprisonment or penalty or both.

Wonderful comment @Thanga Rasa, Thanks !! @SDTV Sunny, Sorry for late reply! but I hope you got the answer!! Well.! What you are comparing is two different fields... regarding the scope in physiotherapy, please see my video ruclips.net/video/3ghafLD4vxY/видео.html If you have any question, please write to me!
Sir I really wanna know why physiotherapists are being treated as nursing staffs I am a student of bpt.. I am really very depressed I want to knw is there any future after doing bpt
Dear Angel, first of all thanks for writing.! Your are just a student, your focus should be on studies...this is your time...enjoy your studies...My advice for you is to don't just stick on to your syllabus...Do lot of research/practice ..especially in areas of Proprioceptors/Neuroreceptor/Mobilization techniques/ Bio-mechanics etc.. Don't worry, future is very bright and its evergreen profession ...no recession! After completing your course... Pursue master's ...go abroad .! Great demand in Western countries .. or you can join some hospital in India or can start your own clinic...
Like the video said The word “doctor” was derived from “teacher” or “scolar”. I believe being a “doctor” of a certain field means you underwent intensive studies and training to reach a certain mastery or expertise in that specific field. Example: MD means medical doctor, PhD is doctor of philosophy, DC is doctor of chiropractic, DPT is doctor of physical therapy. To me this is just a matter of pride and jealousy. I am a PT currently taking up transitional DPT. Not to for the prestige of being a doctor but to gain more knowledge and credential. To sum it up, I dont care if people call me doctor or not, I want to be judged by my actions and by how my patients recover successfully from my treatment. And also by the salary I receive. Would you rather be called a doctor and earn less than be not recognized as a doctor but earn more? Haha just kidding. Ok the solution I see is for professionals be adressed doctor of PT or doctor of acupuncture or doctor of chiropractic to be fair to you guys who are so proud and soo eager to be called DOCTORS
Hey Joe, Thanks for writing ! First of all, Its not about pride or jealousy... So you are taking up the course 'DPT' and you said "Not for the prestige of being a doctor but to gain more knowledge and credential." What if somebody address/think you are a Diploma instead of Doctor of physical therapy? will you correct him/her or just ignore by thinking that "Salary is important" for me and not designation/title? Titles/Designations are created based on education levels...and that automatically liable for some starting pay scale...by that, Half of the job done in terms of salary negotiation..rest half depends on ones talent /knowledge and experience..! So its very very important one to fight for the justice, if ones degree is degraded in comparison with other degrees having same 'level of education' in same fraternity & in same society/nation ? I am speaking this at country level...! If you see in India, whether Modern medicine or Alternate medicine "Graduates", came in before the Physio, all of them address themselves as "Doctors" even though their specific titles just like "Physiotherapist" are very much there...I don't blame them also...somewhere ..something went wrong or done deliberately....!!
Respect all the profession and professionals
Thanks for the video... I am so proud of my profession...

Dr.Abdul,Physiotherapist. Thank you so much sir for replying 🙏🙏
