      Micheal Starr is a nice dude. I met him. He was walking into the venue in Fargo. I said, "can I get a picture?" ...he says, "hold on, I'll be back in 30 seconds I have to grab my vape." Sure as shit, 30 seconds later he cones out...no vape. We do a picture of uq both throwing up the shocker. In front of the Fargo police station. It was poetic. Also, back the BLUE!

      I'm 20 and I completely disagree. You're looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses and fail to realize that there's always been shitty popular music, and there's always been good popular music. As if there weren't terrible child pop stars and shallow sex symbols 30 years ago? You try to sound like you have superior taste and know what "real music is all about", but you just come across as ignorant and far too dismissive of modern music simply because you're either (1) old and set in your ways, or (2) young and trying too hard to differentiate yourself from your peers.

    • @EmmaCarolinePowell
      @EmmaCarolinePowell 10 лет назад +11

      Dan B 21 year old speaking here. And yes, there was crap years ago too, but I don't think it was ever as bad as it is now. I think there was enough good to counteract the bad 30 years ago, but there's so much shit clogging the system now it's hard for anyone good to get any publicity nowadays. I don't try to differentiate myself, it's just my taste :)

    Saw them open for Priest in Las Vegas last month and they were terrific. True entertainers and total pros. These guys know what they're doing and they were way better than Judas Priest. Priest should be opening for Panther.

    • @Jessie4522
      @Jessie4522 9 лет назад

      I don't agree completely with you...I saw them open for Judas Priest back in November..and it just got unbearable...Michael constantly stopping a song to say "SHOW ME YOUR TITS" "You're gonna grow up and be my groupie" got a little unprofessional imo.. they spent more time on what I would say a comedy bit...than actually playing music..it got to the point people were throwing drinks on them.. and they played 3 more songs, then got off stage...they weren't bad by any means..I don't mind the music, there's a few songs I really enjoy listening to from time to time...but doing that all the time...not professional imo.

    • @FrankGiannantonio

      That's what they do. It IS a comedy bit.

    • @Jessie4522
      @Jessie4522 9 лет назад +2

      so because they would rather stand around and make jokes at each other...they should have judas priest open for them? I went to a concert..not dinner and a comedy bit..lol..I expected decent/ good music, then an amazing show from Judas Priest, instead I got lame jokes, a few songs, then an amazing show..lol

    • @FrankGiannantonio
      @FrankGiannantonio 9 лет назад +2

      No, because they have more heart than Judas priest does. Priest sucks now. They aren't even a band anymore. They're out there faking it every night. Panther isn't. They may be a comedy act but they're not claiming to be anything else. If you thought Priest was amazing, you've never been to an amazing show and certainly have never seen Priest in their prime. Rob Halford using Autotune? Unacceptable.

    • @Jessie4522
      @Jessie4522 9 лет назад +2

      How do they have more heart? Judas Priest has been making music probably longer than Steel Panther members have been alive..lol. and they're still going! Tell me that isn't heart... and Judas Priest doesn't "claim" to be anything.. And I'm 21.. of course I never saw Judas Priest 30+ years ago.. I saw Iron Maiden back in 2012 and that was better than Judas Priest IMO..but they were both fantastic shows! He didn't use auto tune...sorry to say..lol..he sang differently than the albums sounded..not by much..but he did..so it wasn't auto tuned.

    "The Burden Of Being Wonderful"
    Why in a world of ugly faces
    Should I be allowed to be so hot?
    So many people without talent
    Yet I was born with all the magical gifts I've got.
    The perfect body, the perfect face
    It's like God's best work all in one place
    But the haters hate perfection.
    Can't you see?
    It's a burden being wonderful like me.
    How in a world that's so imperfect
    Did I wind up with so much cool?
    Friends never stick around too long,
    Never feel like they belong.
    Next to me they feel like a fool.
    I got the grace of a dancer, a golden voice
    People seem to hate me like I had a choice
    Being this blessed is a lonely way to be.
    It's a burden being wonderful like me.
    Like me.
    So you say you wanna hang around
    Don't ever ask me to dumb it down
    I'm a diamond, I'm gonna shine
    Compared to everyone else
    I'm like a whole damn diamond mine.
    Oh, yeah...
    I'm just a Maserati in a world of Kias
    Genius would describe any of my ideas
    If I was born in 1453
    Leonardo Da Vinci would be jealous of me
    But a world of Stevie Wonders will never see.
    It's a burden being wonderful like me.

    Great song. Great band. With Steel Panther, I feel like their lyrical content makes it hard for a lot of people to actually appreciate their musicianship, but every single one of those guys are incredibly talented. They always talk about how their goal is to bring the golden era of heavy metal back, and regardless of whether someone listens to their music out of disbelief or pure admiration, they are still exposing themselves to great rock 'n' roll music (in my humble opinion). I think they deserve more recognition, but at the end of the day it really doesn't matter; they're giving us a chance to either relive those glory days, or continuously imagine how awesome they must have been.

      Wow, you expressed my thoughts almost verbatim. I couldn't agree more. This is a GREAT fucking band with amazing songs, great melodies/vocals, great guitar riffs (Satchel is a flawless player), and an awesome overall band that can really play anything perfect. I realize the naysayers are quick to jump on them for their silliness and the whole shtick involved, but after a decade or 2 of D-tuned, "my life sucks because my uncle raped me" whining, I welcome this whole-heartedly. I love everything they've done and will continue to support them all the way!! Great post Nathan...well said.

It is hard not to be in a good mood when listening to Steel Panther, and I think that's awesome. I'm just a Maserati in a world of Kias
    Genius wouldn't describe any of my ideas
    If I was born in 1453 Leonardo da Vinci would be jelous of me
    But a world of Stevie Wonders would never see
    It's a burden being wonderful like me. Unbeatable lyrics there! How do they come up with it. Genius

    Every time I feel down, I remember this song and instantly regain the love I have for myself. Rock music has healed me more than religion ever could. Whoever thought rock was the devil's work, was actually a jealous Christian who wished gospel was as enjoyable yet powerful like rock music. #DEATHTOALLBUTMETAL

    These guys are the American version of "The Darkness" from England, only they don't take themselves seriously like the Darkness did, which makes the Darkness more ridiculous, and SP hilariously cool..

    • @rhythmista7707
      @rhythmista7707 10 лет назад +1

      ***** Watch their videos and you'll see what i mean.. Just because their songs had no profanely ridiculous lyrics in them , doesn't mean they didn't look ridiculous.. The lead vocalist for the Darkness tried desperately to sound like Freddy Mercury, and failed miserably at it, and the rest of the band tried to look like Queen did in the early days.. If that's not ridiculous unto itself then your comment is the one that's mind boggling.. I mean, who goes around looking some glam band from the 70's, wearing spandex and takes themselves seriously ?. Lead vocalist even stated that in an interview i read somewhere that they were enjoying their ride of success and having a brilliant time.. That's why i said SP is funny and cool because i grew up with bands like that, so i when i see a farce band like SP poking fun at themselves it makes me roll with laughter, and the fact that they're actually great musicians, unlike the Darkness.. Hope this clears things up for you..

      The Darkness are one of the most humble bands I know! They try to make good music like SP, but they're actually great supporters of each other. If you would go to a live show, you would understand.

    • @TheTacitusKilgore
      @TheTacitusKilgore 9 лет назад

      SP would be huge if it wasn't for their lyrics, they make some awesome music (much better than the mainstream top40 crap) but they aren't going to be changing their lyrics anytime soon, I guess it's just fun for those guys
