Avinu Malkeinu

- Avinu Malkeinu is considered by many to be the pinnacle of the Yom Kippur service. It’s definitely one of my favorite moments of the day. The ark is still open and will soon close. As the service is reaching its end, one begins to feel the gates of heaven closing. The emotions that have been built up throughout the day are expressed and culminated by the entire congregation singing a traditional tune together. It is in that very moment that we also want to give expression to a new setting of an ancient prayer, which introduces a fresh perspective on looking at the day. This new composition is by one of my dearest mentors, Cantor Meir Finkelstein.
It is an important reminder of how we cherish the past, and allow it to help shape our focus for the days ahead. The old and the new, side by side, representing our ever evolving tradition, and perhaps ourselves, blessed by renewed energy year after year.
May your prayers be answered and may you have a good, sweet and healthy year.

Just wonderful to hear! I am a catholic french and I know when a song I don't even understand is powerful, and beautiful. I'm right now listening to this song and I just love hearing it again and again :) and what a beautiful language to hear too! Have a peacefull day!
Shalom Israel, hermosa canción siempre la escucho con admiración que el ETERNO los bendiga al igual que al pueblo del eterno ISRAEL.
SHALOM.
I so love this version. I do not like the revised version that crept in during the 70s and 80s. I love the traditional melody
I agree 100%
I agree - I've been asked to sing the newer one and this one right after. I def. prefer this one =D

Oh yes! Me as well! Gmar Chatimah Tova!
Beautiful! I hope next year we’ll be back in our seats and once more be part of the tribe in the Park Avenue Synagogue. As wonderful as it was watching the service on television, there is nothing as moving as being in temple.

The Messiah is seated at the right hand of YHVH and the one seated on the throne is YHVH.
Hazzan, have you ever thought to sing the arrangement by Abraham Ellstein (since you use musical accompaniment and a choir)?

i dont know if we call GOD father WE CALL HIM YOUD HE VAV HE couse nothings in creation is likke HIM OR CALLE HIM ELOAH ALLAH OR ELOHIM ETC ............... ANYWAY HE IS MASTER OVER NATUR AND CREATION ..................
GOD IS CREATER NOT FATHER ELOHIM IS ABOVE ALL THINGS !!!!!!!!!!!!
God is our Father he created us. He refers to himself as such. It's funny how you Muslims claim our patriarchs were Muslims when in the Torah and the Tanakh G-d refers himself as our Father
@@themizrahijewishterf2816 THE WORD MUSLIM MEAN SUBMISION TO GOD SO FATHER ABRAHAM WAS A MUSLIM AS AL THE PROFETS COSE THEY ALL SUBMITTED TO THE ROG HA KADOUSH HOLY SPIRIT THE WORDS OF GOD
@@saidrogerrm8896 yes, but they are not Muslim in the sense you mean it. Unless you agree that it's okay for a Muslim to call Hashem Father
Ochrei Israel, Be ashamed of you because Christ did not come! What's it like to sing on the speaker on Yom Kippur ?! You have no forgiveness from God. You are grieving the Holy Shekinah !!!
idiot
Shut up!! The way u judge u will b judge back
Don't judge. Yeshua is a chosen. The meshiach is yet to come. Unify , one and all under the outstretched arm of our father( Allah, YHVH, God or however you address him). Amin.
