Lady Madonna- The Beatles (Guitar Cover)

- It's February 1968. The Beatles are getting ready to embark on a months long journey to India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. They need a good single to release while they're gone, and Paul has found inspiration from Fats Domino
George and John plug their guitars into the same Vox Conqueror amp on 'Distortion' mode. George is using his 1964 Gibson SG Standard, and John his 1965 Epiphone Casino
I'm using my 1970 Gibson SG Special with P-90 pickups. It's very similar to George's, except his had humbucker pickups and different inlays/tuners. And I'm using my 2021 Epiphone USA Casino in Royal Tan, also with P-90's
Amp is my 1965 Fender Bassman (black panel) with original oxford speakers/cab. And finally, I'm using the Aclam Dr. Robert pedal. This is based on the Vox UL730 amp that the Beatles used on Revolver/Pepper. Funnily enough the artwork on the pedal was drawn by none other than Klaus Voormann, who designed the Revolver album cover

What other Beatles tunes would you like to hear? Please check out my other covers!
Don’t let me down would be nice
Their complete catalogue nothing less .. you have the choice
Please, do any 'Ram' cover. Full band. Thanks a lot, great work!
Throwing a Höfner bass into the mix would be super welcome 😉 But otherwise...definitely While My Guitar Gently Weeps!
@@antrayaudio I should start a gofundme for a hofner or rick bass ;) Will def do Gently Weeps
im proud to say that i was able to play the first 46 seconds first try without ever practicing!
Haha! I’m impressed 😉
This is perfect!!
Props to just sitting there waiting for the part.. looking at your watch.. hahahahahahaha I love the dedication
Thanks for your patience 😅
The tone is spot on!
What a great cover, Sam. I love the fact that you pay attention to every detail of each part of the song in terms of tone and accuracy.
It would be great to see you doing something like dr. Robert or replicating some of those revolver guitar tones
Oh I love this rendition ! great job Sam !!
That was actually amusing when during the many passes there was a move to tune the the low E 🤣
Honestly it was more that I felt awkward just sitting there doing nothing haha
Do you find the Doctor Robert does a good "Happiness is a warm gun" guitar tone?
That was more of a fuzz tone. Mostly like a Tone Bender mk 1.5. But yeah Dr. Robert covers Hey Bulldog, Glass Onion, Hello Goodbye, Fixing a Hole, Back in the USSR. All those weird vox hybrid tones
@@sampopkin many of those White Album titles certainly have fuzzy tones. But they don't have the nasal tone of the Vox Conqueror. It is possible they whipped out the UL730s again? Or brought some of the old fuzz boxes out of storage?
Seems like Conqueror/Defiant were used the most besides Fenders. But some songs definitely used Tone Benders like on Rubber Soul-Pepper. It is possible they reused the 730's or 7120's though
Jext Telez white pedal for that era fuzz…. Clones on eBay worthwhile as well!
Amazing!!!!
What a sound🤩
Awesome!
I love the little lick Harrison played just before doing the run on the 2nd & 3rd occasions. Class act. 👌🏻👍🏻
You definitely deserve more subs man! High quality stuff you have!
Appreciate that dude! Let me know what you'd like to hear
The vintage SG is too cool 😃
This man really loves P90's
Your confer are always on point 👍🏽
Had to be quite patient on this one and loved the watch check! Love the isolation! Glass Onion might be fun!🤌🎯
Nice cover. You ( and George and John) certainly didn't work up a sweat playing these parts. This is a great display of the Dr. Robert pedal. Nice guitars and amp you have.
That's cool man I have the Dr. Robert too!! One of the best pedals to have!
Great rendition of the song and the tone btw 🤟🏼🤝
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌Good Cover
I thought this was a joke but I watched your other videos and realized you just really pay attention to detail lol. Please do the rhythm guitar for She Said She Said!!! It’s hard for me to follow along cuz it’s so buried in the mix
It’s a feeble attempt at both comedy and a guitar cover haha. I would definitely be up for She Said She Said!
Your sartorial choices are duly noted. Well done, on all accounts (musically, and fashion-wise).
thanks haha. I'm testing everyone's patience with this one
Underrated song
Oh god, I love you❤❤
I only just realised that the bass also follows the same riff as the guitars
I used to think Paul would slide up and then back down
Hey bulldog Please!! ❤
What a fantastic cover have a wonderful day also today is my friends birthday ❤😊
Are we gonna ignore the wardrobe choice here? He’s got the Lennon vest and the Harrison white shirt
😉
had to communicate the lick out of the bridge to someone across the country, and this did the trick! (the watch bit made me laugh-i thought about doing that same thing in a penny lane guitar video i did that starts with 30 seconds worth of thumb-twiddling.)
😁
Please, do any 'Ram' cover. Full band. Thanks a lot, great work!
I like the challenge! Thanks for watching
Good one😁🎵🎶😂
yoooooooooo I'm studying this songg
Rain please ❤️❤️
Do hey bulldog next it’s one my favorites
She Said She Said please ❤
I love your covers!! What kind of picks do you use?
Fender heavy. Thanks!
When he looked at his watch I died
待ってる間がなんだか

Somehow dear while waiting for the guitar🎸😆😉
fromJapan🙌
I'd like you play Magical Mystery Tour 2023 mix
Glances at watch
George: i'm waiting...
HAHAH I LAUGH A LOT THAT THE GUITARIST HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG. man im gonna subscribe you, your kinda funny
How does the SG special compare to something similar with humbuckers, like the Les Paul?
P90’s are a little brighter, noisy single coils. More dynamic and less smooth. I love the special, especially because of Townshend
this is a great cover! But I think the guitars are just too loud in the mix in this cover.
Do u own all the guitars in ur videos?
Yes
I’ve got a feeling ?
100
Can you make hey bulldog?
Yeah!
Show the amp setting.
Normal channel-

Great choice using the Anthology version! It sounds much better without impedence of the original guitar track.
I was ready to upload last night with mix from '1' but got flagged and no one could view it. Had to redo the whole recording this morning. It's from White Album Super Deluxe, take 2
@@sampopkin are you planning to use the Dr. Robert for Hey Bulldog as well?
Yeah! Pretty much the same setup and guitars as this song. Only recorded a few days later
@@sampopkin while we're on the subject of 1968 Beatles songs, do you have any plans to tackle Sour Milk Sea? Because with 75% of the band playing on it, that song practically is a Beatles record.
I should! I kind of prefer the Esher demo of it. Not sure why I don't like Jackie Lomax's voice. But the backing track is so good. I'm planning on covering other Apple bands like Badfinger
thought this was a joke for the first 50 seconds lol
Pretty sure Beatles didn’t have two guitars playing the same thing.
There’s a lot of documentation of John and George plugging into the same Vox amp for this. They did a similar thing on Nowhere Man and Hello Goodbye
Hahahha
That's cool man I have the Dr. Robert too!! One of the best pedals to have!
Great rendition of the song and the tone btw 🤟🏼🤝
