  • On December 8, 2022 in Florida, officers responded to a Walmart regarding a suspected shoplifting. Walmart employees had noticed a female shopper acting suspicious on their security camera system. The woman was at the self-checkouts with a friend, and they observed the woman placing several unscanned items into a Walmart bag and then leaving the store. The Walmart employees stopped the women at the exit and escorted them to the asset protection office. The women became irritated when confronted about the incident and left the building, remaining outside, where police officers found them soon thereafter. This is body-cam footage of the events that followed.
Footage on Body Cam Watch is for educational purposes only. All information has been supplied by local law enforcement agencies and is considered by law to be public information. The subjects in these videos are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Body-worn camera footage has been edited for length and in accordance with RUclips community guidelines while maintaining a journalistic focus.

"not only is against the law, you can face some charges" - if it's against the law you ARE facing charges. Not only is it a WILL instead of a CAN, but that part of the sentence is completely redundant. And yes, the charges can be dropped later, but that's not the point. Police don't have the same level of latitude to "choose" which charges they bring forth now that bodycams are normalized and there's a record of the alleged crimes.

I never understand why, when the person being arrested says "I dont understand why i was arrested" and the police tries to explain, and they constantly interrupts the police while trying to explain, they will say ""Listen, listen, listen"
Honestly, i would stop and say "If you want to know why you are arrested stop interrupting me, if you do it again i will not explain it to you".

The problem is that people don’t listen. You have two ears and one mouth. She is learning that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. She is learning about consequences and accountability. She is getting the sequences of events out of order, as well as, the actual events that happened.
Her biggest issue is that she can’t shut up long enough to listen.

    • @ScientistMan96

Really, not even that. All she had to do was decline to give her name, then walk away. Like the officers all said, she was given that chance. They said "If you're not involved with this situation, and you don't want to give us your name, then you may leave now."
She then chose to stay, so they asked her name again if she's going to involve herself in the investigation, and she gave the fake name.

@@JazzyBae-mc1re You seem like a rational person since u can reflect on what you could've done better.
My advice, NEVER talk to or lie to cops. In your case, just ask if you're being detained, and then leave. If you're not under detention or arrest you're not obligated to give them personal info, license, ID, or age. Those cops definitely did go overboard with the arrest, but again, it could probably have all been avoided if you refused to give them info and just left the scene asap. Live and learn!
      Best of luck Jazmine!

I’m sorry…..I normally am all “back the blue” and stuff but that fiasco with the second girl could have been handled differently. I know she lied about her name and for that she SHOULD pay the piper, but she was already starting to get worked up because she was scared and then the cops gonna jump on her and start screaming and yelling at her, making it 100 times worse. I mean she wasn’t being violent or trying to run away. I just think the cops should have tried to de-escalate the situation first. It just could have been handled better. Like I said…..I normally side with the cops but I believe that girl was TRULY having an anxiety attack and all the screaming and yelling just made it worse. I think they should have brought the “cool” cop (the one that was originally talking to the girls) down there to try to talk to her and get her calmed down. That’s just my opinion.
