In many southern states, we have a bad problem with the overpopulation of wild hogs. That is the case on most of our hunting land. They are detrimental to our local farmer’s crops, and the reproduce like wildfire. Keeping up with this is getting harder and harder, but me and Dad are trying!

I hear yah. We trap them, we shoot them, and they just keep coming here in the Hill Country of Texas. My property has a small pond that has water even in the middle of summer so we get a lot of game of just about every type but it’s hard to keep the hogs off, both four and two legs. We’ve had to run off a few folks at gun point after asking if they could read the no trespassing signs and then reminding them that you can use deadly force to defend property in Texas. And that we have a backhoe and know how to use it. Good luck with the hunting and the folks that have little respect for others. And appreciate y’all right back.

Hannah, just FYI... I patrol my land (semi-frequently) with my 12 gauge loaded-up with 3" rock salt shells a buddy loads for me... I have lit one ole boy up with it before - when he was in the process of poaching my deer. I reckon he put the word out to others because I haven't seen him since he took-off screaming at full stride! I was tempted to go to the hospital and wait for him to show up but my girlfriend talked me out of it. Might be a law against it(?) I hate me some thieves and I really hate poachers that kill critters and just take a few easy-to-tote prime cuts and leave the rest behind to rot. They even steal your posted signs around here sometimes.
The more people I meet - the more I like my dog. *Sure would love to take a few wild pigs down sometime but we ain't got none of them around here. I love the thought of eating Wild Bacon! We got lots of black bear and foxes but I only feed them and they leave the deer alone - except for new fawns, foxes will take them down if they get a chance. Our big thing is Wild Turkey and Whitetail Deer (and squirrel, I love squirrel gravy for breakfast!). Yall be good, or be good at it, thanks for the vids!

Are wild hogs edible? I assume they aren't very tasty if folks don't just get'em and eat'em? IDK....if not...why?
