Build an Indoor Pellet Trap, plus Reactive Targets

- Can't always get to the gun range when I want. So I built something so I can at least shoot airguns at home.
If I'm sitting on the couch in the evening, I'd rather shoot airguns than play video games. Yes... I already know I'm a redneck, LOL.
PS. Lots of airguns for sale on www.gunpost.ca
(That's if you are in Canada of course. GunPost site is Canada only so far)
Marksman 1792 air rifle. Got one of those... Mine is launching 0.177 Crosman domed 7.9 gr pellets at around 369 fps and Crosman pointed 7.4 gr pellets at 393 fps. So around 2.5 FPE. The peep sights are quite accurate for good basement target practice !
You can quadruple your curtains lives by stapling all 4 side , then cut a diagonal corner off for the rod to slide through. They can then be rotated and flipped and mixed in sequence. The spacing and rotation from front to back is a super efficient way.
Makes me want to remake my own pellet trap that used cedar board and2 sheets of 1/4 plate with electrician putty. Thank you.
Seeing you are essentially able to stack your pellets, you have created a great system
This seems way more elegant than a box of rubber mulch.
I might think that people build these for two main reasons, maybe to use only indoor, meaning to just control ricochet, I on the other hand, using BB's, want to reuse them, that is why this design is cool. So I agree with you Ian, rubber mulch would be hell to sort through, even with a strong magnet.
Great design! I think I’m heading out to the garage to see what scraps I have. Thanks for sharing!
I like this better than the duct seal idea😊
You have 4 curtains. The second is not harmed. So one or two is good enough. Use the first rod to hang reactive targets the reset themselves. You can use cheap dollar tree spoons. Bend them into hooks and hang on the rod.
One day I want to build that
this is really a smart idea👍 i want to make one like this
Nice, now i have something to do with my little nephew
PIeces of old/scrap carpeting are good too.
finally someone who isnt a complete moron that buys rubber mulch or clay sealent and shit.
i even tried and shot .177s at a tshirt on a cloathes hanger with a piece of cardboard pinned to it and it worked.
so yeah i'd say that 4 layers of any dense fabric is more than enough for most people to stop their .177 or .22s
p.s. i got that buckmark too
Great build. Curious that beat is so hard what is it ?
Great build, thanx for sharing it. I see you shot the green guy first, you racist!!!...hahahaha, obviously joking boss. This trap is one of the better and simpler ones I've seen, good job.
Was curious what the dimensions were ... height, depth, width ?
Hi Raymond. Outer shell dimensions would be approx. 16"x16" on the front. Then the bottom of it from front to back is approx. 18". Then at the top going front to back it's Approx. 8"
Get some tea towels and build from their size...
Re-use used pellets? That must be the most moronic idea ever heard on air gun fields. 😅
