BOOM! Studios Are rapidly becoming my favourite independent publisher I have 13 of their books , love their deluxe releases, I was hoping you'd review this book, it's on my buy list.
Took a gamble picking this up without hearing or seeing anything about it. Was not disappointed so far. Loved Ewings immortal hulk and ive been buying alot of written-owned books lately
Indeed. Their TPBs have really poor binding too. It’s like they use watered down glue or some such. I have at least a half dozen that have come apart. I love many of Boom’s titles, but their binding, both for HCs and TPBs, always makes me think twice.
You mention how the covers are not inline, they are are shoved to the back. I hate that. The covers are related to the issue they are with, they fill a sort of chapter page role, and I feel more like pouring over the art in the middle of reading the story than when it is just with the end credits, and they make the reading feel more grand and thoughtful and provide breathing room.
Among the few comics I upgraded to HC, art is absolutely stunning, great story. This is the type of miniseries that makes me want to come back to read comics, BOOM is on a good path, many great comics in the last years. Im so glad we dont have to depend on the big two anymore
just picked up the first "5' comic issues in the discount bin. i luv the premise but the arts and story is a bit confusing but i'm gonna stick it out till the end thou!
Totally agree with Omar’s comments about the colors and the challenges with some of the action sequences. The art and colors are beautiful, but it is hard at times to tell what’s going on in a panel. I found that a little frustrating because I enjoyed the story and the art is clearly the product of talented artists. I just wish that artists wouldn’t run so far from traditional comics sequential action art. It seems that they could be innovative but still keep in mind some of the basic principles of sequential action art. Anyway, perhaps the larger size will help make some of those panels a little clearer than the TPBs. It’s a lovely work. I just wish that artists would sometimes balance their laudable efforts to innovate with basic sequential action storytelling.
Jap. Had the same problem... Was initially stunned by the art. But it became redundant... (Also 90% of the book are actually talking-heads with crazy lensflares) Love the artwork & the style - quite the achievement ! but would have loved some more reduced panels in between for contrast... But awesome work! Fun read!
I'm halfway through this and enjoying it. I do see how some of the artwork is not clear and you kind of have to decode or piece together what is going on. For that reason, some may not like this.
I agree with the art being a bit disorienting with this series. A little too much colour and too few clear lines to easily determine WTF is going on. The story was interesting, but I ultimately dropped this series after a few issues.
I read this when it first came out. Idea is really interesting but the way its told and the art style made me feel like I was reading a disconnected dream. Not for me.
Now let’s take a closer…. Now Let’s take a closer…. NOW let’s take a closer look at our cover here…
Just poking fun. Great content as always Omar!
AI Omar glitched out 😂

A very interesting deluxe edition by Al Ewing. Thanks Omar!
I really enjoyed this series. Gonna wait to see how the binding holds up for others. Boom has notoriously poor production on OHCs

My Once & Future OHC is falling apart
Right, BOOM should put attention on that, my CODA HC binding is a bit wobbly
Fr. My power rangers necessary evil required me to glue it.

Yup. This is a prime example of style over storytelling.

Hey Omar, are there any floppy's that you're reading month to month?

Hey Omar there's also a deluxe slipcase edition of this, that's the version on my order list
Im glad there's an audience for this series.
It wasn't for me.

MR MINT I AM 12 YEARS OLD CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE CAN I BUY MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL(THE COMPLETE COLLECTION)?
IMO the binding of Boom's Deluxe hc's should be better...

I AM LOOKING FOR A CHEAP PRICE(BECAUSE IN MOZAMBIQUE EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE!)
