  • An art practice is a structured and intentional approach to creating art. Just as anyone can go for a run, anyone can make art. But understanding proper form can help you avoid a running injury. Training with friends can help motivate you. Running can be a way of life without being a profession. All of that is true of art as well. Whether you're a hobbyist or a pro, an art practice is a way to train smarter, faster, and more completely.
Here are three reasons why every artist should develop a personalized art practice:
    🌿Sustainable Creativity🎨
Regular and structured practice prevents burnout.
Practical activities help you to stay motivated and inspired continuously.
You develop the ability to create even when not inspired.
Community keeps you on track even when life events or inner doubts pop up.
    🪜Skill Improvement📈
    Regular practice hones your methods.
Analysis and exploration help you to discover and refine your unique style.
    Consistency breeds expertise and confidence.
    💼Professional Development💪
Build a strong and diverse portfolio over time.
Enhance your professional skills and public visibility.
Use the resources of your art practice to hone your messaging.

I would have only considered the third concept- skill building as the reason for an art practice. I hadn’t considered the other two. Also, the running metaphor was spot on. Thank you!
