Fun Fact: all the samples off this album came from Terminator.
Devin/Strapping came a little later. Definitely Inspired by this. Especially City. You can thank Rhys Fulber as the producer responsible for bringing this 'digital/industrial' vibe to a lot of bands in the 90s like WhiteZombie, Nailbomb, and FF.

Strapping Young Lad’s album Heavier Than A Really Heavy Thing was heavily inspired by FF. Great album!

One of the most important albums of the 1990's metal scene. This album was a game changer. If you want this sound with more bass check out their song Edge Crusher from the album after this one. That album is the first album they used 7 string guitars on, and it is way beefy.

The lineup of FF has changed a few times over the years, but Gene Hoglan and Byron Stroud from Strapping Young Lad both had stints in the FF lineup. This album was a major shift for the band, because the one before it was more of a death metal album. Demanufacture was their introduction to industrial keyboards over their riffs. They were one of the first metal bands to have clean singing and growls/screams in every song, and often backwards. They screamed the verses and sung the choruses, which Killswitch Engage obviously borrowed. FF started around 1989/1990

The title of the song is a reference to a 1987 photograph by the American artist and photographer Andres Serrano. It depicts a small plastic crucifix submerged in a small glass tank of the artist's urine.

Read the lyrics very powerful as well. I saw this live and saw this up close in personal at a small venue sang at the top of my lungs. Not to mention met them before the soul. They inspired so many bands killswitch, slipknot which slipknot also got there S logo from Burton C Bells forearm tattoo

I'm on the FF boat since Demanufacture and I also listened to Killswitch Engage since their debut album. Sorry, but you're getting something a little wrong here: That "Killswitch Engage inflection" you're talking about. Killswitch Engage - one of the most influential bands for the metalcore genre - were founded in 1998. This FF album was released on June 13, 1995. Fear Factory were groundbreaking at their time. I think that Adam Dutkiewicz and the rest of KE might have been (partially) inspired by FF. Surely not the other way 'round. But all that probably happened before you even got into metal music - which is totally ok. I just wanted to clarify this.

Piglet,Please be the first to review the Necromancer on RUclips by Rush. I'd be really interested in hearing what influences you think are there from 1975. It sounds unique to me from that era. Please give it a shot sometime!

My favorite song off Caress of Steel! Though I'd rather hear a Rush reaction that doesn't ignore the entirety of the last 30 years of their career for a change :)

I gotta test your Progressive/Rush fandom for ya! It's easy to love 70's Rush. Here's a test for your next reaction though: ruclips.net/video/iXbDPE3iL68/видео.html
1991 Rush, during their 1994 tour. The shift in their tone, style and music is a shock to most fans who only know songs up to their early 80's albums.
