You dont need to apologize for things not going perfectly! I like getting an idea of what it's *really* like, you know? Those pretty, manufactured videos are nice, but the realness is nice too. Its like a cooking show; that's not what cooking is actually like! Its funny bc I dont even make soap nor do I ever plan on making soap. But I love these kinds of videos! And learning about other people's small creative businesses help inspire me and motivate me with mine. Sometimes I watch your videos while I work and it's like working with a buddy :)
Joanna, it’s so wonderful that you take the time to make these videos in the midst of your work, AND that you are so transparent and real! It doesn’t go perfectly for me so much of the time either, and your attitude is SUCH a blessing, bloopers and all!! I have been so encouraged by your videos that I made a beautiful batch of Anna’s Oatmeal and also did some revamping on my butters and PK flakes this morning, (I have them in clear, rectangular tubs now, instead of the previously used 1- gallon organic coconut oil pails, and as a bonus, I can see at a glance how much I have in the container!) and just got back from getting lots of olive oil at Costco!! (You’re right, it’s a great price!!) Thanks EVER so much for being you and for sharing!!! 🙏🏼❤️🕊
@@TheSoapGal as of today I have watched every video you’ve ever posted and I’ve learned so much. I made 50-50 last solution and was able to speed through my soap making process today. It has been so helpful. You are such a godsent
I've already learned so much from you and I love that your showing how to use such large equipment. My goals have changed to bigger and better things . Just seeing what your doing give me hope and inspiration.
Your doing great! Keep it up. I like watching your videos. Your the real deal. You always seem in a rush, maybe it's cause the camera on ya. Can't wait til you get lighting and microphone. Keep it up girl!!
Thanks for your fantastic videos, Joanna! They have given me more information about the business side of soapmaking (and many other similar businesses) than 6 years in business school! I really appreciate your honesty and openness, your videos are a pure delight and I can't wait for many more to come, both business and recipe-related!
Just found your channel, great videos and very helpful information. You have such a wonderful joyful spirit. Keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated.
Loving your videos! No need for apologies, you're teaching so the messy parts should be included.lol I have been soaping for quite a few years and we are getting ready to launch our new business after a year's hiatus. I am enjoying the info you share with us, always want to keep learning, even at 58 years old! Lots to learn and getting inspiration from your videos, thanks so much!
Hello Joanna I absolutely love watching your videos and your enthusiasm is really an inspiration to me. I do have a question concerning this video. I was wondering how you use the honey without burning or making the soap really dark, because I was always told that sugar or anything like that with sugar in it will or can make your soaps really dark when combined withlye. I have been wanting to use honey but always kind of afraid of it, so any suggestions that you have for me would be greatly appreciated.:-)
I have been loving your videos! I am wondering about when you say add additional liquid to the lye solution how do you know how much liquid needs to be added?
When you use a 50/50 lye solution you are using the same amount of water as you do lye. Now subtract the water and lye from the water amount in your recipe and that is the extra that is used either in more water or another liquid. That's the extra that Joanna uses for goat milk.
Hi, From what I gather, by using pre-made 50/50 lye solution and pre-mixed oil base, one would essentially be soaping at room temperature. If so, what is the chance of a false trace?
@The Soap Gal please keep your videos coming!🙌🏼 Can you please explain how you use goats milk as extra liquid? I tried to do a double batch using 50:50 lye solution and used a little goats milk. I just cut my loafs and they crumbled to pieces☹️ I’m trying to see where I went wrong.
Thank you for the video.. So helpful! ...When I made soaps containing honey, they turned out to be very soft and are also sweating (not sure if it's due to humid condition because it's raining here in India) ...If you have any tips on that, it would be really helpful.
Hello Joanna ! Can we add avocado pure, or any other dense pure fruit , substituting the remaining water (using the 50/50 method) ? Please, help . Thank you so much
I am also working big batches, but yours are huge not big. Your channel is very interesting and you are very cute . Pls don't take the face mask for protection off till you finish puring the soap . The puring could easily splash .
i really love all your videos! im in arizona as well and i've been making soap for a year now :D though i only use coconut milk. though ive been very curious how goats milk soap is. but im glad you have a channel and giving us all this knowledge!
David O I also make coconut cream soap. I purchase my coconut cream from Lee Lee’s. Coconut cream has a better lather. If you need anything let me know!
oh thanks for the tip! i will for sure try coconut cream! i have never been to lee lee's but i will make a trip there soon and check it out :D thanks for the help!
Video was 2 years ago and i am also in the business of soap here in Philippines. I showed this video because of the Soap Mixing Stainless. Please may i know the size? Thank you ♥️
Soap Recipe Hi Criss! That's correct. The recipe is: 50% Olive Oil ( Costco) 40% 76 degree Coconut Oil ( Arizona Soap Supply) 10% Castor Oil ( Arizona Soap Supply) 50/50 Lye Solution ( 6% lye discount) ( Arizona Soap Supply) Sodium Lactate 1% of base oils ( Arizona Soap Supply) Raw Goats Milk ( 0% liquid discount) OuRanch they have a facebook page) Sodium Lactate helps to produce a harder bar of soap that lasts longer. Because Sodium Lactate is a salt, it is a natural humectant, which also helps provide moisture :)
Great question, Renata. Goats milk does not need to be pasteurized. We’ve used unpasteurized goats milk for years. Just make sure to include the goats milk with your oils.
Love your videos...love you! How do you determine the quantity or measurement for additives such as oats or honey please? In this video you stated how much oats you added, but I did not hear the amount of honey you used. Thank you for sharing. You are such an inspiration.
Dr. W. Octavia MalVeaux Dent I’m glad to hear you are enjoying my videos. I use soap maker 3 software to help with formulation of all my recipes. I us .25 % or up to 2 oz to a 130 lb block. If I use more it become to course
The Soap Gal Thank you Joanna for your prompt response. I recognize for more reasons than one what it takes for you to keep the shop going and respond to your viewers’ questions timely. I saw one of your business videos and cried tears of joy when you opened up to tell us how you battle dyslexia which makes responding a task in and of itself. It touched my heart with joy because both my husband and our great niece have the same challenge. She is eleven and her personality reminds me of what I gather of you. All three of you are evidence of how God can take any weakness and strengthen us through it. Having only discovered your videos two days ago, I am challenged to do what I love to do and never quit! Great video very informative I'm slowly learning the ropes kinda confused on water discounts and percentages but other than that i have done ok
Is your lye tanks sealed at the top and heated? lye tanks are very expensive and I'm trying to figure out a cheaper alternative
Love it!!
One of my favorite soaps! Quick question-where did you get your face shield?
I have a face shield very similar and I got mine at an auto parts store.

Hi Maam
Hello Joanna ! Can we add avocado pure, or any other dense pure fruit , substituting the remaining water (using the 50/50 method) ? Please, help . Thank you so much
It depends on the consistency of the puree, I would recommend starting with a 25% puree, 75% water and have fun with some R&D :slightly_smiling_face:
Wow! That's a lot of soap! Does you big kettle have a lock on it to keep it from spilling? So much fun!
No, It does not. It has never spelled.
What do you need to do what I want to do is use powder goat's milk instead of the liquid
I am also working big batches, but yours are huge not big. Your channel is very interesting and you are very cute . Pls don't take the face mask for protection off till you finish puring the soap . The puring could easily splash .

Also why the sodium lactate?

That was great. How do you decide what percentage of your liquid will be milk,?
NYtalk60 when I ran my recipe in soapmaker 3 it told me how much to use. I will be doing those videos soon

what is the purpose of the sodium lactate? I have a bottle of it and I don't remember why I ordered it? I don't make CP soap? LOL Can someone help me?
it makes the soap harder faster xx
But I don't make CP soap. So what else would I use it for? LOL
I live in Mesa and would like to be connected to your goat milk farmer.

Thanks!
