    I'm new to the game (I started when the Beyond update released). The first blue star I went to I found an Activated Indium planet. The first place I landed I found an Electromagnetic hotspot. I circled around the hotspot and found a S rated Activated Indium hotspot about 400 u away. How lucky am I?
    Thanks Jason, your videos have helped this noob.

  • @liberteus
    @liberteus 5 лет назад +4

    Deposits can be very close to each other. If you spend enough time roaming a planet, you can have your electromagnetic and another one with 400u of each other, and sometimes a third one within 4 or 500u as well.
    So with a single base at the center you have your power source and you can get two different metals at once. Just build storage and cabling to go to your base and with one teleportation you get both metals at once.
    So far, built bases for:
    - activated indium (because fun)
    - phosphorus
    - ammonia and oxygen
    - uranium
    - dioxide
    Next will be:
    - rusted metal
    - Gold (nanite farming)
    - Silver (nanite farming)
    What else would you recommend Jason?

    • @JasonPlaysNMS
      @JasonPlaysNMS  5 лет назад +1

    It is definitely worth farming oxygen so that you can make pretty much infinite chlorine. It sells for a lot and only requires a medium refiner to mass produce it. I managed to find a large oxygen field near enough a electromagnetic power area and was able to make more money than I would ever need. Which you can then use to buy whatever other material you might need.

    • @andrewhendrix2297
      @andrewhendrix2297 5 лет назад

      Very true! I thought I was the only one that seemed to know this because I don't see any RUclipsr's talking about it. I don't know how it works in the real world, but the chlorine seems to be on a runaway reaction. With an oxygen hotspot or just buying all the oxygen you can find, I have three medium refineries set up and you just keep adding the chlorine back into the pile when it's done. In less than 10 minutes of just standing there I have about 20 million worth of chlorine to dump into a system. Granted, it's not the most exciting 10 minutes, but I can't see anything making money faster than that, and with very minimal setup.

    I came back to this video after watching it to say; later in the game, if you can get access to indium, farm it instead. It can be made into 2:4 Chromatic metal, and with chromatic metal can make 1:4 of Indium. It's much faster to farm, and Indium, per item, is worth substantially more than cadmium, emeril, and chromatic metal.
    Basically, I'm saying it's a more efficient process. If you're like me, you'll put your farm on your Frigate, once you get one. Hope this helps somebody.

      Need to add a correction here...I went back into the game to confirm it and it only seems to work for the power extractors and not the mineral or storage.

      If I don't have electro power nearby, I put a solar panel on top of each extractor. You can also stack batteries to make a battery tower.

  • @alexmh6131
    @alexmh6131 3 года назад

    Also, i feel like it would be ALOT easier to just buod a solar panel where you need it, however, for the purpose of the tutorial and what you can do this is great, i didnt know about the power hotspots so i definitely learned alot in this video

    piece of advice, you can dig holes and put your wire connections in there, then restore the holes - you'll still be able to connect to them even after restoring the terrain, but all the wires will be hidden.

    Great video! I'm new to the game, about 15 hours in, and just found a planet with cadmium where I built a small base. Now I just need to grab some more salvage data and I'll be building my first farm.

    The terrain manipulator has a terrain flatting mode, you don't have to build wood panes to flat the ground.

    thanks for the tips, but i think i will stick with solar array and battery method, although the efficiency is much lower, but it let me build all of my mining base in one place, rather than having to drag a wire out over long distance

    Then build a Portal next to your base computer, so you can transport in. Then extend your containers to your base computer, using long sections of pipe. I usually have 8 to 10 hours of storage. Then Portal in, and take the stored mineral/gas and portal out within a minute, to collect your mined material. I have over 10 mines/farms. Easy 35 million a day, 1/2 hour to collect then sale it. Make sure you change where you sale each time, so you get the best prices.

    Don't repeat this layout. You will need to collect the resources. Thus establish a base with a teleporter right close to a mineral deposit, and with extensions draw wires from generators. Optionally, a short range teleporters can be added to easy extend electrical plant in a future. Don't add 300m walk every time you need to empty depos.

    you can draw the electric wire infinite if you dont use build camera and walk with it

      I thought it had a max length of like 200 or 250 units before the wire turned red and didn't want to snap to the ground... I just snapped it to a random spot on the ground and then walked on... that worked for me :)

  • @typecasto

    In terms of your base location, it absolutely could have been 600 meters away. Base radius gets locked to ~325u by doing certain actions (teleporting being one of them) and unlocked to around 1000u by doing other things (namely hardsaving and reloading). Once your base radius is unlocked, you can also place a wooden wall every 30 units to extend your base beyond that limit. Each object placed has around 30u of radius. Just remember to unlock!

    The supply depot also acts as a battery if you read the top description when you're looking at it it says it deploys stored power when needed. Also when looking at it you'll see kp going up. Also the terrain manipulator has a flatten, build, and restore mode. Build mode has different shapes and patterns. Good video though.

    May be really slow with this but as of now mineral extractors dont need to be touching the ground, u can place them on top of a foundation and then u can stack them on top of each other. Like I said I'm very new to NMS but just trying to help

    I like setting up on calm planets. I found a water planet with damn near perfect flat islands with jungle like trees on them. No storms 77.7 degrees plus and minus. This will be my home. I can set up bridges to the next island hehe. Gonna mess around with underwater base stuff also.

    You said to go to any system and while you can I've found it best to go to blue stars via the freighter (so you don't need the indium drive) and then try and find a planet with ACTIVATED Indium. The stuff sells for crazy amounts. Not only that but when refined it creates 4 stacks of Chromatic metal.
    So when you fill up your personal inventory with activate Indium that will net you hundreds of millions in one go, you can fill up your freighter and ship with chromatic metal and sell that too. While lesser in value, it allows you to make millions off of chromatic metal. This way you can make a few extra millions before you have to go to the next system (because you've crashed the economy in that system and will need to go to another to sell)

    I need to fine a Space station in my Galatic region, however ther does not seem to be one, but I was at one during an early part of the initial srory line. There are none indicated anywhere, I do not have a starmap all I have is the Galatic map. none indicated anywhere even in space with the icon. could that mean there are no space stations in my system? How can I find one?
    Thank you for responding

    The mineral extractors do not have to be touching the ground. You can build them 300u above the mineral deposit in the air, so long as you are within the radius of the deposit.

    I set up an activated indium farm, its nowhere near geothermal power, and its on one of the most intense planets ive ever seen. Had to dig a cave to setup the extractors and set up solar panels in build camera to prevent dying in constant fire wall storms
