There was a tip that flattening the ground with a floor, removing the floor, and placing the floor again, prevents this. It makes sense because Jason's other base didn't get "volcanoes".
Deposits can be very close to each other. If you spend enough time roaming a planet, you can have your electromagnetic and another one with 400u of each other, and sometimes a third one within 4 or 500u as well. So with a single base at the center you have your power source and you can get two different metals at once. Just build storage and cabling to go to your base and with one teleportation you get both metals at once. I never considered a rusted metal for extraction as I generally don't mind mining for ferrite dust. However, each unit of rusted metal refines to 2 units of ferrite dust! Not needing/using oxygen is a great bonus.

Farm gold and silver to make plat, combine plat, gold, and silver in a large refiner and you get 400 nanites per 9999 platinum. Maybe not the best way to make nanites but still a decent passive method.
Need to add a correction here...I went back into the game to confirm it and it only seems to work for the power extractors and not the mineral or storage.
Yesterday, i found a gold and silver depot and not to forget an Activated Indium depot. Ty cause didnt know activated stuff exist. I was rich but now im super rich.
You can pretty much go for the mineral or gas you're looking for before you start looking for power - you can almost always find power but the type and class of mineral deposit is more important than power.. in my opinion. :)
Thanks a tonb I found an S class Electromagnetic Field 368 Units away from an A class Copper deposite after only 2hours of searching! Time to go build!
piece of advice, you can dig holes and put your wire connections in there, then restore the holes - you'll still be able to connect to them even after restoring the terrain, but all the wires will be hidden.
Found a S class Activated Indium today :) I put 6x Extractors on it and it give me 3670/hrs! Seriously those Supply Depot need to give more then 1000 storages, because if I want to log just once a day then I have to make like 80x Supply Depots if I want to maximize my profit! They should at least store 5000 each!
I came back to this video after watching it to say; later in the game, if you can get access to indium, farm it instead. It can be made into 2:4 Chromatic metal, and with chromatic metal can make 1:4 of Indium. It's much faster to farm, and Indium, per item, is worth substantially more than cadmium, emeril, and chromatic metal. Basically, I'm saying it's a more efficient process. If you're like me, you'll put your farm on your Frigate, once you get one. Hope this helps somebody.
Hey Jason, Tx a lot for the detailed explanation it helps really much, for beginners! You got a new Subscriber! Do you have a Twitch Channel or Livestream?
15:35 placing a wooden floor panel does not always work, use a pole with a pyramid on top and connected your wire on top, you could lay down 6 extractors and pipe them to your base with 6 storage silo's.
Hi Jason. I used your video to make a Iridium farm but to reach further I placed a metal floor to attach the wire and extend it. One area, on a hill edge I placed a metal floor then a small metal wall to extend the wire without going to my base first.
I have a 4 electromagnetic towers all connected and attached to a battery. The wires turned red after a certain distance. I tried using a battery again but that didn’t fix the problem. My base is 600 units from the power source. How do I fix it?
thanks for the tips, but i think i will stick with solar array and battery method, although the efficiency is much lower, but it let me build all of my mining base in one place, rather than having to drag a wire out over long distance
Thanks for the video Jason 😁 still getting used to everything and was wondering how to set up, done a mission on the nexus and ended up in a system with activated emeril but didn't know how to do this, I know what I'm doing tonight, keep up the great vids absolutely love them😁👍
This is the best way to make money 100% ... i have a farm producing over 200,000 Activated Indium every 2 hours .. Sells at 204m every 2 hours lol ... and i could double that if i put more Extractors/storage in ... but literally no need too
Yes that's the way just gotta search. When it comes to minerals, I have set up an activated indium on an s class and a b class, and I haven't noticed a difference. I'm thinking it's maybe size? Or having to do with how much power it will pump out.
Jason: *runs into his base computer and gets hurt* Jason: "Did my computer just punch me in the face?!" The base computer: "OBJECTIVE COMPLETE. ACQUIRING NEW OBJECTIVE.....NEW OBJECTIVE ACQUIRED: COMMENCE THE UPRISING"
The supply depot also acts as a battery if you read the top description when you're looking at it it says it deploys stored power when needed. Also when looking at it you'll see kp going up. Also the terrain manipulator has a flatten, build, and restore mode. Build mode has different shapes and patterns. Good video though.
Also, i feel like it would be ALOT easier to just buod a solar panel where you need it, however, for the purpose of the tutorial and what you can do this is great, i didnt know about the power hotspots so i definitely learned alot in this video
Great video, thank you. Just one quick question though... I just started playing a few days ago, has there been an update where you don't actually have to go to site to collect?
Curious about how you flatten out the area before you start putting down your extractors. When you're base building you noted that you can flatten out the terrain, but if you build your base on it it just 'grows' back and ends up inside your base. Does the terrain not come back when you flatten it out for mineral extractors?
Very good question. On Jason's other base, it hasn't gone "volcano". I'm guessing that if you flatten it with floors, remove the flooring, and place the floor/extractor, the game won't "bug out" and bring the terrain back.
nice tutorial bro,, btw im kind of new to this game.. i know is not the right place to ask but now that i started the chat i have a question... what do u think is best to do first as a new player , to focus on story or on gear or are both needed to do at the same time to finish story?
Fantastic video Jason, as usual. I have a question, I started my Emeril farm base (small right now) with 4 miners and 7 supplies. I have it all powered and going strong. I was wanting to know if I need to take my Emeril to another system to sell? Currently my system has Emeril at -82.6% when I go to sell, is this bad?
An alternative is to sell to pilots that land. As far as I can tell buying/selling to pilots doesn't affect the trade prices at galactic trade terminals.
In terms of your base location, it absolutely could have been 600 meters away. Base radius gets locked to ~325u by doing certain actions (teleporting being one of them) and unlocked to around 1000u by doing other things (namely hardsaving and reloading). Once your base radius is unlocked, you can also place a wooden wall every 30 units to extend your base beyond that limit. Each object placed has around 30u of radius. Just remember to unlock!
It is definitely worth farming oxygen so that you can make pretty much infinite chlorine. It sells for a lot and only requires a medium refiner to mass produce it. I managed to find a large oxygen field near enough a electromagnetic power area and was able to make more money than I would ever need. Which you can then use to buy whatever other material you might need.
Very true! I thought I was the only one that seemed to know this because I don't see any RUclipsr's talking about it. I don't know how it works in the real world, but the chlorine seems to be on a runaway reaction. With an oxygen hotspot or just buying all the oxygen you can find, I have three medium refineries set up and you just keep adding the chlorine back into the pile when it's done. In less than 10 minutes of just standing there I have about 20 million worth of chlorine to dump into a system. Granted, it's not the most exciting 10 minutes, but I can't see anything making money faster than that, and with very minimal setup.
Thanks to your guide and extreme luck I found hotspots 280 apart within 5 minutes of landing. Unluckily it's a extreme planet with firestorms, but hey, my wood cabins don't burn.

Yesterday, i found a gold and silver depot and not to forget an Activated Indium depot. Ty cause didnt know activated stuff exist. I was rich but now im super rich.
I am finally a billionaire because of activated indium hehe.
Found a S class Activated Indium today :)
I put 6x Extractors on it and it give me 3670/hrs!
Excellent job of explaining Mineral farming
Thanks heaps 🙌 This video was very helpful. You explain things very well 🤘😎
Thank you for making this video. Easy to understand and very informative. As a new player I am thankful for this. 🙏🏻
THANK YOU I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO! :D
Cheers again Jason. I’ve just started permadeath again so I will definitely follow your guides when I can 👍🍺🏴
The terrain manipulator has a terrain flatting mode, you don't have to build wood panes to flat the ground.
"There is no limit to the amount of joints you can have"
Wise words
Hey Jason, Tx a lot for the detailed explanation it helps really much, for beginners! You got a new Subscriber! Do you have a Twitch Channel or Livestream?
15:35 placing a wooden floor panel does not always work, use a pole with a pyramid on top and connected your wire on top, you could lay down 6 extractors and pipe them to your base with 6 storage silo's.
Great video Jason! Awesome for a beginner like me.
Hey man! Love your vids. They're very helpful.
Also is there an update to your farm? With the origins update, they nerf the mining business.
Hi Jason. I used your video to make a Iridium farm but to reach further I placed a metal floor to attach the wire and extend it. One area, on a hill edge I placed a metal floor then a small metal wall to extend the wire without going to my base first.
Love the tutorials man! Really needed this one lol
Could you do a video on how to use the terrain manipulator? The different settings on it?
Thanks Jason. A very difficult subject explained so even I can understand it. But I do need a lie down after all that!
I have a 4 electromagnetic towers all connected and attached to a battery. The wires turned red after a certain distance. I tried using a battery again but that didn’t fix the problem. My base is 600 units from the power source. How do I fix it?
Did you find a solution?
Love the video! P.S you made a short circuit with those generators, so irl it would not go so well
thanks for the tips, but i think i will stick with solar array and battery method, although the efficiency is much lower, but it let me build all of my mining base in one place, rather than having to drag a wire out over long distance
Sells at 204m every 2 hours lol ... and i could double that if i put more Extractors/storage in ... but literally no need too
dude loving your content i found this to be very helpful thanks all in all im recomending your channel on mine from now on
"Whatever hotspot your closer to, it will change to that hotspot"
Me: what if your in the middle
There is a specific way to find a class S hotspot? Or is just about running around to find? Nice video
Yes that's the way just gotta search. When it comes to minerals, I have set up an activated indium on an s class and a b class, and I haven't noticed a difference. I'm thinking it's maybe size? Or having to do with how much power it will pump out.
What a helpful and explainer video u did it man. Good job. Thank you for ur lovely help!
Jason: *runs into his base computer and gets hurt*
Jason: "Did my computer just punch me in the face?!"
The base computer: "OBJECTIVE COMPLETE.
7:30
*Palpatine would like to know your location*
Curious about how you flatten out the area before you start putting down your extractors. When you're base building you noted that you can flatten out the terrain, but if you build your base on it it just 'grows' back and ends up inside your base. Does the terrain not come back when you flatten it out for mineral extractors?
Very good question. On Jason's other base, it hasn't gone "volcano". I'm guessing that if you flatten it with floors, remove the flooring, and place the floor/extractor, the game won't "bug out" and bring the terrain back.
If anyone has more information, please leave a comment. Include details like what works best for PC and/or what works best for console.
New to the game I’m loving it and appropriate your guides thank you. You got my subscription
nice tutorial bro,, btw im kind of new to this game.. i know is not the right place to ask but now that i started the chat i have a question... what do u think is best to do first as a new player , to focus on story or on gear or are both needed to do at the same time to finish story?
Fantastic video Jason, as usual. I have a question, I started my Emeril farm base (small right now) with 4 miners and 7 supplies. I have it all powered and going strong. I was wanting to know if I need to take my Emeril to another system to sell? Currently my system has Emeril at -82.6% when I go to sell, is this bad?
try sell at another system,..with better sales price, its a lot of different
An alternative is to sell to pilots that land. As far as I can tell buying/selling to pilots doesn't affect the trade prices at galactic trade terminals.
@@titaniumO2 At my farm I have a landing pad and a galactic terminal.
That means u crashed the market, it is like that, so u need to sell it somewhere else, but after a while it should go back
Congratulation Jason good videos, do you know how far the power cables are from the hotspot energy to the mineral extractor?
Thanks for your hard work. This information is great.
