Have you ever tried soaking or fermenting your feed - for any of your animals? I found that my chickens wasted much less and looked healthier when I soaked my feed overnight with a starter like apple cider vinegar or kefir\yogurt. Doing that cut my feed bill 25% to 50% - depending on the time of year. Now that I live up north, I don't soak feed for the ducks and geese in the winter (so the feed doesn't freeze), but I do feed them right next to buckets or tubs of water. In warm weather, they _really_ like wet feed.
I know that it makes several components more bioavailable and lit can leach out antinutrients in legumes. I do know my feed bill went down and my birds looked better,
Is this mix ok for bucks? I am researching and so many people have told me not to give anything except hay to bucks because of stones? I have only been feeding the sweet feed and hay. I am def going to try this for my goats. Cool video. Thanks.
Well, technically no. But I do. Bucks can develop urinary stones from too many minerals in grain. It has to do with the calcium and phosphorus ratios. Cog Hill recently talked a bit about it. Jason said there are special mixes he buys to feed his bucks that prevent that. I've been using this mix for many years now with no problem but that doesn't mean that you won't have issues. Check with Rose at Wholesome Roots farm. She's the goat guru.
Yes ma'am. It's equal amounts of whole oats, black oil sunflower seeds, alfalfa pellets, and the commercial goat feed of your choice. Basically, whatever is available to you: all stock, sweet feed, specialty feed. In the video, I used sweet feed but have since changed to ADM Dairy Goat Feed.
For one goat in the morning and evening you could give them one cup and a half but if you see they are gaining to much weight then lower it to one cup.
@@juliatrebnio9090 I wrote this about seven months ago but the person on the video never got in contact with me. I sort of figured it out but you’re right it’s about a cup per animal I can’t go too far or they will gain weight I just want them at a perfect weight for winter.Mine are Icelandic sheep and they need very little grain.
Why doesn't anybody say how much and how often they feed each goat? And what about weathers and bucks? I heard they shouldn't have alfalfa nor sunflower seeds.
Do you think turkeys, and ducks would like this mix? I want goats, but we have chickens, turkeys, ducks and guineas. It would be nice if I could find a feed to supply most if not all of them what they need. All my poultry forage, though, so that's good. Even my broad breasted turkeys go crazy for bugs and grass seed.
I hope you will be fine. Can you give information regarding food for goats how many time you have feeding and what food you are feeding . Can you give information
1 pound per gallon of milk being produced for each dairy goat. About half a pound otherwise, given in two meals. They need free access to pasture and hay.
Could right the names of components you mix here? And if possible the formula each are made from so we can find similar formula in my country if not fine the same product from that company.
we don't do grains, once these goats get a taste of it or treats, they refuse to eat the hay and throw fits n act bratty. For now they get hay only n alfalfa chunks, never sweet feed mix for ours.

Thank you for this! I am a first time goat owner and trying to figure out everything to give them the best life ❤️
You've got this.
It would have been very useful if you had shown each pack or bag, so that we can know the brand, along with identifying contents.
Love you all. Blessings and prosperity to you all ❤️🙏🏼❤️🕊🦅🦄🐏🐑🦜
Thank you.

I grow lots of sprouts and wheatgrass to feed to them but I've never tried fermenting any of the feed. Do you think it increases the protein content?

@@Rebbecca1983 no problem I'm glad you figured it out.
Very good video, how do you keep the nats and little bugs out of your feed
I use it quickly enough that bugs are never a problem. A tight fitting lid is your friend, though.
Why doesn't anybody say how much and how often they feed each goat? And what about weathers and bucks? I heard they shouldn't have alfalfa nor sunflower seeds.
Bucks, weathers, and non milking does do not need any grain. Does in milk need one pound of grain for every pound of milk they produce.
so smart
So are you.
Wala nman kasi dito nyan sa aklan boss....
What is the name of the sweet feed you use for your goats?
All stock
like 253 Happy weekend!!💖💟💤😊😀

ALL of mine will eat this. I'm sure it will work for you. However, you might want to keep oyster shells available for your layers.
Would you recommend this for a pack goat in the winter, that doesn't get much browsing time?
Yes....but make sure he has as much good hay as he wants.
I hope you will be fine. Can you give information regarding food for goats how many time you have feeding and what food you are feeding . Can you give information
I feed my does twice a day. Only when they are on the milk stand. My bucks get very little grain and only in the evenings to get them into the barn.
saw you on wholesome roots, thought i would give you a try
Thank you so much for stopping by. Rose is awesome.....and so are you. Please, consider subscribing to our channel.
Best goat feed is free goat feed
Okay
How many lbs per goat per day?
1 pound per gallon of milk being produced for each dairy goat. About half a pound otherwise, given in two meals. They need free access to pasture and hay.
Can a gaot eat dried larvae??
They might eat it but it should not be given to them. They are vegetarians and do not need any animal protein.

Yes please. A video would be awesome. :)
I'll do my best.
Please write names of ingredients
Okay.
2 parts commercial dairy goat pellets or sweet feed
2 parts alfalfa pellets
2 parts whole oats
1 part black oil sunflower seeds
Anyone tell me this feeds name?
Where you purchase your feed
I get it locally from a mom and pop store about three miles down the road. But similar items can be found at Tractor Supply.
Can this be fed to wethers?
I wouldn't. They need very little grain. I'd stick with a really good quality hay and maybe the alfalfa pellets with the occasional handful of oats.
we don't do grains, once these goats get a taste of it or treats, they refuse to eat the hay and throw fits n act bratty. For now they get hay only n alfalfa chunks, never sweet feed mix for ours.
I'm a pushover. It's the only way to get mine to do what I want.
Do you ever feed that to the chickens?
Yes, sometimes. This would probably make a very good mix for chickens. Some of the pheasants really like it.
What kind of goat is this ?
Looks like nubians to me.
Opu
Have you worked out a protein content of your mixed feed?
It's about 12 percent.
Is that easy to digest for goats and their bucks bcoz its looking hard ?
Yes. You will not have any problems with your does. Bucks do not need grain. Just weeds, hay, and minerals.
