There was a time when analog measuring instruments were used by the servicing and
maintenance guys, when the process used to be very time-consuming, and the
measurements and documentation was manual. The contractors or the maintenance
engineers working on the refrigeration systems had to deal with long-wired manifolds with
fewer features and more struggle. But now things have advanced, and with the emergence of
new smart digital manifolds & equipment, the maintenance of critical systems has become
very easy. Testo, being the pioneer of smart & digital technology, brings to you the new app-
controlled servicing manifold testo 550s for wireless measurement.
The testo 550s smart digital manifold makes working on air conditioning systems, heat
pumps, and refrigeration systems easier than ever before. To start with, this new two-way valve
manifold has a large graphic display that guarantees a clearer view of all readings. You can
monitor the parameters of both suction and discharge sides of a compressor in one go, with
this large graphic display, making data evaluation accurate and simpler. The manifold valves
can be connected to the system to conduct the charging process and create & monitor
vacuum. In addition to that, the guided measurement menus help the technician to quickly
determine the essential system parameters like superheating or evacuation and eventually
ensure automatic recording, smooth measurements, and documentation. The data from testo
550s can then be transferred to the testo Smart App, ensuring wireless measurement. One of
the features of this 2-way valve block is that additional Bluetooth probes can be wirelessly
and automatically connected to the smart digital manifold with a range of up to 150 m,
making maintenance work with the testo 550s even more convenient. This feature makes it
possible to connect two additional testo 605i Smart Probes with testo 550s in order to
calculate the target superheat, taking the wireless measurement to a whole new level. This
application can only be used for split air conditioning systems/heat pumps with a fixed
expansion valve. To ensure Bluetooth connection between the probes and testo 550s, you
need a Smartphone with Testo Smart App installed on it, which is available on App Store as
well as the Play Store. Once the app & the instrument is connected, the smartphone can act
as a second screen. With this testo smart app, the user can have on-site documentation, set
favorites & always have the latest refrigerants automatically updated.
Besides the large graphic display, the ergonomics & design features of the new testo 550s
Smart Digital Manifold is also very impressive. The instrument is exceptionally compact and
easy-to-handle, plus with IP 54 protection class & the robust housing makes the app-controlled
instrument ideal for refrigeration contractors and technicians. So even in rough sites, the
testo 550s is tough enough to take a few hits & ensure precise servicing of the refrigeration
systems along with splash proof IP 54 protection class.
