Have you ever thought about a video series of a campaign like storyline. Something like a 5 episode persian gulf invasion scenario. I think that would be fun to watch.
12:40 “One way or another im gonna put this thing down on top of this carrier” *as it turns out, he did, in fact, put this thing down on that carrier.*
Watch the Harriers parked on the stern of that carrier closely at 12:55 - a second one explodes when GS's plane crashes. Credit that Yak with _two_ Harriers. 😁
@@user-mo5hz9kp6y Absolutely. It made her look like a superwoman to her contemporary voters who had no internet those days. She helped pave the way for neoliberalism in western world. Also fear of some extreme (such as Communism) does not justify the other extreme.
I had to watch a second time before I realized that Yak driver scored a double kill at 12:48. When GS's Harrier hits the stern of the carrier a second one parked on the deck explodes. Yak pilot: "Urrrrraaaaaaa, a 2-fer comrades!"
We have to wait until the conclusion of the video to realize that SAM launch at 1:35 was preemptive self-defense on the part of the carrier. No one but GrowlingSidewinder could give us scenarios like this. I love this guy. 😄
that last landing was perfect. putting a harrier on a dck in combat conditions is incredibly difficult and you got the WHOLE thing on the ship in one peice. For about a thousandth of a second. great video man.
The Harrier is Beautiful 😊 I'm completely biased though, as a kid I saw 5 harriers just pop up out wood. It was part of an air show an no one knew they were hidden in the wood. Truly amazing thing to see.
When I was a child my dad bought me a well detailed model of the Harrier which I obviously destroyed, being a 6 year old. I wish I had it now, I also think its beautiful and its unique for sure.
Well, you said you were determined to get that plane on the deck one way or another. Technically, you accomplished that task. lol That clip will be welcomed in your fail montage vid.
Sea Harrier..saw one at an airshow in 1988. Also Tornado ADV, F15, B52, C5 Galaxy and Antonov 124 both of which allowed walk through. Saw other cool stuff too but those were the highlights. This was in my country, Australia, we are are so far from anywhere that foreign planes won't often come here.
With the tail strike, I was going to say that there might be a few deck apes that would like to have a word with you. Now, it's deck apes, LSOs, squadron COs, a certain captain and a certain admiral. GS always wants to expand the audience...today, he got that expansion in spades. TASS is gonna have a field day with THAT camera footage...
My uncle was on the design team for the original Harrier. He said the first few design ideas were hideous looking. To my eye, the final production design is quite appealing.
I don't usually leave comments but I absolutely love your videos. I've watched every one of them over the past year or so and the way describe the situation is awesome. The ending had me in tears I was laughing so hard 😂
Man the Yak-38 has always been a weird fascination of mine since of found out of its existence. With it's limited operational history I've always been curious about it. I'm surprised to see a DCS vid about it. Thank you for this.
Curious landing xD. I suspect that they are going to take away your naval pilot's license. The next time you try to land it over the command bridge, so as not to leave any witnesses xD 🤣😂
Well spotted! R05 HMS Invincible; one of the four Leander class Frigates was F57 HMS Andromeda. Having served aboard F58 HMS Hermione (1983 - 5) I noticed.
Early Harriers were better looking than the later ones, but its shape evolved out of necessity. I remember being a kid in the 80s and watching the 6 o'clock news with my dad, and about once a week, there would be a USMC pilot fatality here in eastern NC. Avionics improved, thankfully. Later, when I was working at MCAS Cherry Point, I found out just how loud those engines were than normal turbojets and turbofans.
Was a Big Fan of the Harrier as a Kid and Even Now I Think it's the Best Looking of All the VTOL Jets Out There. Something about the Layout of the Engines and How the Wings Look Really Works for Me. It's just Weird Enough to have the Corsair Effect going on where It Looks Really Cool despite How Non-Standard it might be.
This is like clubbing baby seals. Forgers were basically an experimental aircraft. The soviets were only starting out making carriers and all they had was helicopter carriers. The Forger was just an attempt to see if VTOL was a viable option. There was a follow up version that seemed pretty great, but it never made it because the wall came down.
Nah man, Harrier's beautiful, no argument there. Especially watching them peel off and break, really actually looks like our British birds of prey like the Harrier
Harrier is awesome, my favorite plane to fly, it’s a real bomb truck and with the carrier capability it is so much fun. Those chevrons tracking targets in the HUD are so useful.
This mission made me realize how much I'd like to see a full f14 naval mission with a catapult launch with a carrier landing to finish. Have you ever done one like that?
Ladies and Gents, here's a man standing by his words: 'one way or another I'm gonna put this thing down on top of this carrier, I'm very motivated' 😂 Any last statement for the court martial on inflicting deliberate collateral damage, Sir? 😅
Not his fault. If there is a court-martial, then it would be on the captains of the escort destroyers. It's their job to keep the air-space around the carrier clear of hostiles.
Harriers used to train over the South Scottish moors. I often watched them 'dog fighting'. As we buried my mother two RAF Harriers gave her a fly-past, unintentionally of course, then flew back over slowly. ❤
I'm glad I wasn't drinking coffee during the last 10 seconds... I like the Harrier, always been a fan since the '70s, saw a RAF pilot really do some amazing things with one. Note that the AV-8B is only for the US/Spanish/Italian aircraft, the British variant was a derivative of a derivative and called the 'Harrier II'. Great vid, interesting plane to see in action.
There is a reason why Carriers dont operate 2 miles from the coast and enemy airfields. The Invincible here must the pre 1989 version as she has a 6.5 degree ramp as opposed to the 12 degree ramp
The wheels in the wings and the lack of big engine outlets detract from the Harrier's aesthetics to me, but the rest of it is so lovely it's probably in my top 5 for looks overall
I miss that bird. We carried six of them on my ship. Surprisingly small, the wingtip was at my chest level. Standing on the forecastle during launching the peculiarities of the ships acoustics would cause a moment of utter silence followed by a thunderclap.

Well CO should have taken more action to defend a stricken Harrier on final approach! 🤣🤣

That ending's a court marshal for sure, and possibly a failed pilot recovery op.
Finally, GS took out a carrier. 😄
As a Brit the harrier is beautiful. Truly iconic and one of a kind
