- Mike Glover, the owner of Fieldcraft Survival and an SOF veteran, shows you how a Green Beret does a pocket dump and why it’s important to stage your kit and to do a PCI, or pre-combat inspection, of all your gear before strapping it on each and every day.
It’s not just about making sure you aren’t missing any of your necessary EDC gear - it’s more about checking the functionality of all that gear on the regular so you know without a doubt that it will be 100% ready to rock if this is the day you should need it to. Glover even shows you how to perform a readiness check on your concealed-carry pistol and how to do a press check the right way, all without the muzzle clearing the holster - a process called admin loading.

What you are describing, we call "mise en place" in the food industry. This refers to having everything you need, ready to go, in one place. Without it, you might as well go home.
I press check mine & check my mags every time I leave the house, whether it’s once a day or a dozen times (but it’s done when I 1st strap it on and/or before I leave).
Mine is always chambered (my kids are grown and carry themselves) so no small children. I only unload and make safe when servicing, dry firing or otherwise handling. Otherwise it’s always chambered and hot. (It’s also always on me) even relaxing in the recliner.

I love that i did something like this subconsciously. May be my service member ancestors coming through, may just be a guy thing. But i have always had to have a little pocket dump area every day and night when i come home haha. Its like a gear up spot to throw on your daily armor (as the lord said, yet obviously not literally this buy hey)!
Operations 101: Everything has a place and everything in its place. Everything has a purpose and that purpose is stated and trained to. Fight to train!!!
Perhaps we could get a wrist splint added to your EDC rotation?
And yes I have a place where all my edc goes nice and neatly every single time and it’s always there when I’m ready to go. Like hanging your keys on the hook so you always know where they are!

Wish to Heaven that Glock had a “functional” proper loaded chamber indicator like some other manufacturers have…! For proper visual verification. My daughter’s FNS 9 has a simple but great one (it’s protrudes a little further and has a “visible” red dot on the top that can only be seen while chambered) other wise it’s the same design as the Glock’s.

I’ve landed on the Fort Knox pistol safes. I can keep multiple edc pistols my med gear, knifes etc all in one place.. I’ve gone through 3 nicer biometric safes over the years and they have all failed over time and don’t recommend them

The most likely point of failure on a bottom feeder is the magazine. My daily load out is a firearm, spare ammo, flashlight, tourniquet, fixed blade, folding blade, wallet, and cell phone. I may, or may not, have a bug and or a truck rifle/pistol.

I don't understand why people do press checking. It tells me they don't know if they're prepared. I've never done a press check because I'm aware of when my firearm is or isn't hot.

I think this definitely one big advertisement. Mikes not carrying the sig without an optic or light so he’s not even using his own holster realistically.
That particular holster is optics cut. I carry a P365XL with a red dot everyday in the same holster. Not sure about a light option, though.
