What I love about this the most is the period-appropriate mods by the Japanese, 13" or 14" wheels, original-style engines, period Datsun competition buckets. If it was in Australia many would have oversized modern wheels, rubber band tyres and modern engine transplants. A big thumbs-up for old skool!
Thanks so much for watching, but also the information. I kinda like all (not really; very many) cars, so there's not much room for depth of knowledge. Just broad appreciating. Cheers
Australia did do some radical Sunny Coupe 310's....a 10A Rotary conversion by Pas in Fast fours and Rotaries magazine. A few Pickups too...but you had to be into those books like I was in 1988 like I was. The memories flood back....Dat Sun, Dat Sun & Sunny....magic day for you, so close to home. Great stuff. 💹
Ah. I did mean performance versions of cars from the factory. Also, back in the day, I was very much not a reader of Fast 4's/Rotaries. Street Machine all the way. Thanks, Dean :)
Exellent video like everyone here those sunny sedan and wagon can still becaren on the street and how execited l am to see your new videos would be a good detail with spanish subtitles!! Thanks friend from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Hi there Dan, I was wondering if this was the same meeting as an earlier video, or the meetings are a regular occurrences. I can now see what you meant by a 'California" wagon. That's the roof line my one had. In fact that was the only roof line the wagons had in Australia. The earlier square back roof-line is identical to the Sunny panelvan I had. I delivered a lot of pizzas in that van. As for growing up in the eighties, I was the one who had a 1200 sedan who took it to the street drags at Oran Park, & blew away the Toranas & other 6 cylinder cars. Even some V8's. It had an A14 & 100 rear wheel HP. Took it circuit racing in 1988, & fitted an A15. I used a crossmember form a B120 to fit the motors.

What a fantastic show! Love Sunny trucks and vans. Also, really like 4-door Hakos with unmodified rear fenders. A long time ago, I had an uncle with a '79 Datsun 210 wagon, in orange. Great video as always, Dan. Thanks again for sharing.
Love the old pickups. I want one bad. Also love the way you show then parked for details and then driving away. Great vid as always. Who would have believed back in the day when these were new that the wagons would become cool, lol.
Fantastic video as always Daniel. When I was growing up people who owned older Japanese cars were considered to be poor. So finding a Japanese car of this era in the States is difficult. Though I am surprised to see the variety still on the road in Japan since I understand that the Japanese culture in the 70s-90s to have been very much indifferent to old/used things (as in products - not historical things of course). I'm glad the ones they are rocking here survived.
Thank you! Re: Variety. I totally get that you see "the variety", but from what I've seen of old school Japanese car mags, so much has long disappeared, eh. But, I'm all about celebrating all that stuff that's still around. So, happy days

Hello Daniel! Here in CH lots of E-cars are sold and in some decades the regular cars won't be sold. What about in JP? These e-cars are hardly heard when they are driving on the road. Is JP ready for the change? Thank you very much for sharing your great video with us.
I'm sure. I only show old cars, but old cars are very, very rarely seen. The far majority of cars I do see are hybrid, and the very economical "Kei car".
@@wasabicars in finland you can get lot of basic parts for old datsuns and corollas because they were very common here but if you want some power parts you can only get them for corollas. I have searched months to get manifold for sidedraft carbs without results :D
