This is one of my favorite peep show moments. His "I've been feeling a bit low lately" as he inhales the ciggy like a total novice is gold.
The long ash is a great touch too!
So funny how Sophie is so nice in these early episodes,like a genuine potential love interest for Mark.
In the later episodes she KOs in a ball pit lolll

@@AtticusBleep Mitchell was a light smoker if you listen to his autobiography and even if you google Young David Mitchell you'll see pictures of him in a pub smoking, I think it was more down to the smoking ban as this was filmed in an actual Flat and not a studio in the earlier seasons.

Mark thinks Sophie's backstabbed him, and is perfectly magnanimous, but after he finds out she didn't, that's when he starts insulting her.
Mark's hair is great here. He should go for the ill hair look more often. It's less Hitler-esque
Judging by the way he grows it long and combs it over, his hair is probably a lot thinner these days and he couldn't pull it off.
Lewis Campbell I mean he is quite old now. Most people’s hair would start to thin at around his age. For someone who’s 46, he’s got a good head of hair.
People should strive to he more Hitler-esque, not less.

The Citizens Advice Bureau is definitely one of the more underrated characters of the show.

The funniest part about this scene is that the bump on Mark's head is from Sophie shooting him with a BB gun because they were prank calling her outside her house and she doesn't even know it was them 😂

Was the show filmed in an actual apartment. Lol, why haven’t I noticed this before and realised how amazing it is.
The first one or two seasons where. Afterwards the Landlords kicked them out so they had to recreate the whole thing.
It's amazing how in this first season or two, Sophie was actually rather attractive and sweet. Then as the series progresses she becomes more and more horrible and dishevelled.
Then the Sophie Peep Show revealed what a borderline manipulative sociopath she was all along.

They caked sophie in make up in the early seasons amd k think they put her in sharp clothes to make her look slimmer, this is presumably when mark was infatuated with her as an idea than a person
Everyone saying how Sophie was nice earlier on. No. She was not. She comes to her friend who she knows is having an episode just to gloat how she didn't want the job but got it anyway. True, she wasn't the total petty alcoholic disaster that she became later on, but she was never nice. Just two-faced.

Always thought this bit was a little call back to Neil Simon’s play and later movie and later US television show, The Odd Couple, clearly an inspiration because in the original there’s a fight over a ladle and Brits just don’t ever say “ladle.”
