Loved everything about this Vlog - going to read the book for sure. But the winner for me was your beautiful garden and that spider weaving her web! Thank you for sharing x
Awwww thanks Natalie. I’ll do a garden tour or two next year I think. Oddly, considering it’s my favourite season, we’ve not cracked the autumnal garden look yet.
Bumped this up my library holds list based on your recommendation! I, too, have been seeing it recommended everywhere. Loved the format of this video - fun to hear what you thought throughout the process.
I absolutely ADORED this book. The title put me off for ages, but I heard so many good things about it I caved. So glad I did. Such an emotional rollercoaster. The perfect balance of light and dark.
Yes, more of these please! Lessons in Chemistry was a 4 star read for me. I was surprised by the dark bits and I thought it was a far more complicated story than the blurbs would suggest but in the end that she didn’t quite pull it off. Still I will definitely read more by her. Have you seen the US cover? It’s quite different. Also Chris cracks me up, Wales is stunning and those black and white asides are a treat.
I think she pulled it off for me… yet with two characters literally having to talk through everything that had gone before, before the end. Ha. Great debut though and will definitely read more of her work. I am not a fan of the US cover either really. Though thinking about it… it’s a hard book to make a cover that covers everything that makes it. Hmmm.
I am so confused by the love for this one, I thought it was so bad I gave up about 3/4 and skimmed the end. Love that you were watching rhobh though 😂 and love these vlogs
Sophie Turner totally stole the show for me too. I always love Maya Hawke as well. That meal looked amazing! Love “spending time” with you. Definitely time we’ll spent ❤
Looks lovely in your garden. I loved Doris Day too and somewhere I have a copy of the book upon which Please Don't Eat the Daisies was based. Oh please, ketchup is the perfect condiment, especially when mixed with pepper sauce. Best fish and chips I ever had in my life was at Margaret River, Australia. Now I want fish and chips too. I enjoyed this video, may I have some more please.
Really enjoyed this and I also enjoyed the book even though it's not anything like my usual choice. I totally agree about talking animals in fiction - really dislike ti normally but that dog was actually like a visiting spirit of something. I loved seeing Park Gate it brings back so many memories seeing your little films of Merseyside and The Wirral. Thanks for this.
Random fact for you...I thought my Mum invented eggy bread when I was a child. I only ever had savoury with ketchup and noone else I knew had it when I was growing up! Try it with mushrooms, red onion and melted cheese between 2 slices...game changer! Eggy bread with ketchup is elite.
They’re great. Though sounds like there’s some issues going on with staff and unions and pay etc which is sad to see. I shall be putting my ordering on hold for a while.
You know when you get to the part in the book that explains the dust jacket? Did you get there? What or who is she holding? I get the cover. Also, please share all your Karma, fish & chips and ice cream. Yummy! The eggy bread is screamin' for some maple syrup. 😉 Seriously though, I do enjoy all your book recs but I'm so in love with your vlogs! ❤️❤️❤️ And Chris in the bath...😁
@@SavidgeReads not a patch on The Promise, Hearts Invisible Furies, Sea of Tranquility and Small Things Like These. Worth a read but hasn't stayed with me as these have.
@@valholden7199 but that’s fine. Not every read has to blow our minds. If we only read those kind of books we might start to get complacent about them.
Omg omg pause at 1.22 I’m currently reading this (based off a nigella Lawson recommendation lol) wow this has never happened to me before … do I keep watching …. What if your thoughts impact my reading experience in a good way … or a bad way … what if this brings us closer to together as reading buddies .. … what if this makes us drift further apart … but we don’t even know each other … .. hahahaha 🙃 😜
I’ve read Hope Farm by Peggy Frew and really liked it, her new one is on my radar - heard good things. Have Kokomo on my shelf and I can’t believe I haven’t got to it yet !!! 😊#loveozfiction
I love Sophie Cunningham so much! Not sure if you are aware of the industrial action at Readings, entirely up to you if you want to look into and act on that obviously but just thought I’d give you a heads up. It’s not great.
Yeah. I’ve heard about it since I filmed this (about two weeks ago) and with heavy heart I am going to have some space from them and probably not film reading their shortlist this year.
Loved your vlog but not the book 🙂 Some of the writing was creative and clever, the story itself is absorbing. I particularly enjoyed the scenes with six-thirty, the dog. But, there are no shades of grey - every man is sexist and misogynistic, it becomes werrisome when there are no nuances. I found I didn't bond or care about any of the characters so not a recommendation from me.
I think at the time, as I mentioned most men were sexist and that did bother me at first but then a couple of the male characters change that. And don’t tell me you didn’t love Harriet and Six Thirty, how could you not!
What a gorgeous garden, and cats, and bath-husband. Loved seeing the book post!
I think this is probably the direction my vlogs will be going in after the next one which is something a bit different.
These are very relaxing to watch. Its encouraged me to actually do some reading today rather than just think about it.
Awwww I’m so pleased. What are you reading?
I throughly enjoyed this format of vlog ☺️ would love to see more videos like this ❤
Thanks Jane. I shall see what I can do 😉

Yes I would agree with that, Garmus is brilliant at balancing the funny, the dark, the bizarre and the heartbreaking.

Me too I didn’t like it at all
We can’t all like the same things though. That would be incredibly boring. I hope I explained why I did though enough in the chatty bits.
Loved this, thanks lovely especially your post bit ❤
Awwww thanks Sue.

Glad you enjoyed it so much Kris.
I completely get what you mean about the cover. I much prefer the cover of the one you got sent. I can't wait to read this.
Hope you enjoy it when you do. Will be interesting to see what they do to the paperback.
Yay, you read it!! My book of the year so far

Hahaha. More will be coming hahaha. I looooove Doris Day. I had no idea Please Don’t Eat The Daisies was adapted from a book. Which book?
@@SavidgeReads Novel of same title by Jean Kerr.

Ooooh I’m not great with red onion but may just give that a go.
The literary version of Cher’s Believe. 😂 So glad to hear your thoughts on this as it’s been on my radar. 😊💙
Hahaha. It’s true. The Cher thing. Haha. Hope I managed to avoid any spoilers.
I received a box from Readings today, too, including This Devastating Fever. It does sound intriguing. It was a very happy day.

I got there, I read the whole book 🤣 I still don’t like the cover. Haha. I think it’s a bit twee, which the book isn’t.
The cover put me off as well as I thought it would be too contemporary romance-y but very intrigued now :)
I think those were kind of my thoughts too!
I am late to this party. My workplace book club just chose "Lessons in Chemistry" for our February read.
Never too late to a video, the joys of digital. Hope you all enjoy the book!
I loved loved loved this book especially 6.30 😂. Five star for me. Gonna pass it on to everyone I know. Will rave about it for ages
Hahaha. Good stuff.
Beautiful! Check out the cover of the Lessons in Chemistry here in USA. Totally different!
I’ve seen it and am also not sure about it. Ha.
Readings! A total favourite from a beautiful suburb in Melbourne❤
Although I’ve heard some concerning rumblings about how they treat their staff since I filmed this a few weeks ago.
@@SavidgeReads hmm, not cool
I loved Lessons in Chemistry. I heard it was being made into a film starring Elizabeth Moss.
I think it’s Brie Larson who, like the covers of this book, I am not sure about. Hahaha.
You need to offer Foster an irresistible treat....then he will definitely love you 🤣🤣🥰🥰
He’s not that easily swayed. I was literally feeding him and he didn’t care.
Lovely video. The folks at my local indie are really recommending this book too. But it does nothing for me, so I’m skipping it.
Hahaha. Have you tried it?
@@SavidgeReads Nope. Too many books; too little time. Gotta skip the ones that don’t grab you even if others are raving.
@@mradcaqbdb hahaha fair enough though this video/experiment proved I would have been missing out on a good’en.

It was a good one.
I appreciate it may be a confidence thing but I would LOVE if you faced and talked to the camera more!!
There were reasons for that in this video and the last couple. You’ll definite get more of that in some future videos 😉
