hi sir. i learned a lot from your videos. i started learning sketch up by watching learn sketch up in 30days. i have a question. may i know what is the function of "save as template"? what is the different with normal file saving? i sketched a furniture and normal saved it. then i sketched another model of building. then i imported those furniture into building drawing. A friend of mine said to save as template. but i dont know what is the use of template files. can you clarify or suggest a video for me to refer to

One way of working with this is to setup views in sketchup that only show specific elements that would share the same line weights. You create a style for each line weight you want to show and assign it to the relevant scene. Then in Layout, you can stack the viewports. It’s a cumbersome workaround, but it does work.

Hi Justin, in Layout - is it possible to customize the toolbar along the top of the page - the default is very basic. I'd like to add icons for Undo/Redo, Pan, Copy, Paste, Bring Forward, Send Back, Area, Volume etc etc

What about I'm creating section instead of elevation? I would need those section planes showing in my floor plan. Great video btw. I imagine this could speed up my productivity by skipping layouting in corel draw
What do you mean? In those situations it would still clip out the walls, so you shouldn't need them. That said, there's nothing wrong with adding section planes if you need them
Hi. If I scale or just move (not accidently) the model after adding some text, lines to the drawing the text or lines doesn,t move at all. There is no problem with labels and dimensions. They stick to the elements of the model. The problem is only with lines and text .Do you know any solution for that?

how come changing scenes in layout is so fast for you, it takes a couple of minutes for me and trust me my PC is solid I run Lumion on it without an issue as well as Sketchup but Layout doesn’t seem to cooperate
The hardest thing in layout is organizing your model ,synch it with sketchup model took too much time when working in real life where you work on large scene, since sketchup don't work using reference...layout layer manager is not getting any new feature either like search layer,...layout need to be restructured to work more efficient
@@Thesketchupessentials many layers...in my recent 20+ ,... sometimes when i got the time i handle layer management but usually not..because deadline . And in layout there's no layer folder too such as in SketchUp. Its usually increased by itself when i use extension such as curic section or fredo..also when working i use as lower resolution as possible to make switching between viewport more light, the drawback is when i export them into pdf , hybrid ( v 2023 had export as hybrid function) it takes very long time to produce 25 pages of pdf (30 min ++) . My drawing usually take 50+pages in final version,.. it take 1h +....using hashwell ,16gb ram, and ssd.. i know that you can cut down export time by using hybrid all the time , but it sacrifice the time when you need to update your skp file or switching between pages.

What about the lineweights on the floor plan? this is the essential part for working drawings
Yes, sometimes I cannot deal with the line weight in layout, and the dimensions tool confused if the line weight is big

I have problem with changing from RASTER to VECTOR in layout. Do you know why? My view is disturbing when switching this option....
