There was an update yesterday to the buggy iOS Mi Wi-Fi app. I’ve spammed them on WEIBO official page and inside the App I managed to open for the first time with getting the phone to ✈️ mode. The App wouldn’t open if the phone was on normal network. I read on the internet that there was an issue with some Facebook libraries shared between some apps and some of them could crash on opening. Nice to see that Xiaomi is hearing the customers even if they don’t put immediately English firmware in their equipments. More options are available inside a full browser instead of the App.

thank you for all details, I think new firmware has mesh networking for global. but my question is, Is that possible 2 ax3600 can possible to make mesh network?
Hi there, why when in mesh mode my ax5 wireless channel only got 48 max. But in single standalone mode i got 161 wireless channel on 5Ghz connection?? What am i doing wrong?
Hi. Is it possible to create a mesh network in 3 hops without an access point (all wireless)? For example, the main router (AX3600) -> Child router (AX1800) connect to the main router to cover the first dead spot -> then another child router (AX1800) in another dead spot but in this case, this 3rd router can see the signal only from the first child and can't see it from the main router.
Yes it is possible to configure a mesh though child routers. In mesh protocol, after the routers are paired, the data packets will take the best route to the host router and it can be through any child routers also. Thanks..
Hi. Which app do you use it? At the 7:29 min of your video, you show the screen of your app and it is completely different from mine as I don't have those plugins "child protection, guest wifi, etc"
Thanks for your video! I have got one question: Is it also possible to use the Gigabit LAN Connections for a remote NAS via the redmi in mesh-mode? Thanks 😊
What do you mean by a remote NAS? Anyways, if you have a NAS system then you can use the LAN ports of the router to connect to the NAS, and yes it will work even if the router is a child mesh node. Thanks.
I'm researching this mi mesh thing. All the articles and tutorials for some reason put AX5 and AX6 routers as children in the mesh configuration. I wonder if AX models can only serve as child nodes or could act as a host as well? Could I form a mesh with two AX5 routers? Did you try it?
Yes you can do so. AX5 can be the host router. There is no difference between AX1800 and AX5. I used AX5 as child because it can be wall mounted. I think that's why most people use it as child coz AX3600/1800 are just table top form factor. Thanks.
Hey I have two questions about this: 1. Is it possible to connect between the 2 mesh routers via Ethernet cable for better connectivity between them? 2. How did you connect your main router to the providers modem/router? Thank you
1 - Yes, just do an lan > wan cable plug. 2 - For better performance, put the provider on bridge mode or set the mac adress passtrough of the router you want to be the main.
hi there11 just got 4 of ax6000 and i can only add 1 router to mesh... after repeat process for 2nd and 3rd router. it just keep saying to bring router closer and reset factory mesh
Did you have the direct download link of the previous 1.0.16 firmware or the file itself? I want it because old firmwares have exploits and I want it so I can install OpenWRT etc trough ssh
Yes. Here is the link: cdn.cnbj1.fds.api.mi-img.com/xiaoqiang/rom/ra67/miwifi_ra67_firmware_63805_1.0.16.bin. Please let me know if you have flashed the OpenWRT FW successfully. Thanks.
I have a AX1800 and a AX3600 on the way, what one would you suggest be the main one plugged into the wan? The mesh one is going to be used more but dont want this to be slowed down by the main router being slower? Any help appreciated..
The usual configuration will be AX3600 as host and AX1800 as child router. But you said you will use child router more right, if you have wired backhaul then you can also use AX3600 as child I think, with no compromise. Anyways you can experiment and see to find the best config for your setup. I'm guessing you may not find much difference between the two setups, if your WiFi signal between the host and child is good. Thanks.
Armun, i am curious if you have tried switching the ax1800 as the main ang the ax3600 as the mesh child and vice versa? Which had better performance between the 2 set ups? Ax1800 main + ax3600 meshchild node Or.. Ax3600 main + ax1800 mesh child node
Hi.. great video.. I just have 2 questions: 1. Can you mesh 3 AX1800 routers together to expand the coverage? 2. Will all of them be shown as 1 wifi name or every single one have different name? Thanks.
@@shnk91_ The speed depends on the signal strength between the host and the child routers. The child routers will have decreased speed if the signal isn't good, or you can use an ethernet backhaul to get a stable speed. Thanks.
Hello, I am going crazy with choosing a wifi router. One Xiaomi AX3600 Router or two Xiaomi AX1800 Routers or two Redmi AX5 Routers or two Huawei AX3 Pro Routers or two Huawei AX3 Routers or two Honor 3 Routers?? My home is 90 square meters. Thank you.
Yes it's quite difficult to choose but I can try to help. You can think AX1800 and AX5 as the same router as they are identical in hardware with different form factor. AX1800 is good for indoors and AX5 is wall mountable. You can select based on that. Another thing to consider is do you need 160MHz(AX3600/AX3) or 80MHz (AX1800/AX5) and if you have supporting devices. And last thing for you to select is you want Xiaomi or Huawei. To me, Two AX3 Pro in a mesh looks very tempting. For me I'll be going with one AX3600 and one AX1800 and one AX5 in a mesh. I hope it helps. Let me know your choice. Thanks.
How many of these units can you connect for a mesh network? I think Google's router only supports 3 of them together. And do you know if you can setup the mesh network if all satellites are connected via lan to the router?
Xiaomi didn't specific any hard limitations but mentioned a network of 4 routers for stable connection. I don't know if we can connect more that 4 or not, as I haven't tested it. So for now I'll say 4 is the max. Yes you can connect all of them using LAN cable. As shown in my video, after pairing them wirelessly, you can connect the LAN and it will take preference over the WiFi connection between the routers. Thanks.
hi! show please how to setup mesh network but without to be router, for setup when you have more serious router, but want to use mesh network with redmi ap.
Hi. Can i ask? 1. When people connect to a Mesh, can we see it from mi Wifi apps? 2. When people connect to a Mesh, can we Block Him? 3. When people connect to a Mesh, can we QoS his Banwidth Connection? 4. Are true that we control and setup (QoS etc) for Mesh from Our Main Router? (Not from a Mesh Router). Thanks 🙏
I'll do it in the future. I'll be getting the Mi AX3600 soon and will do a complete Mesh with three routers and check the speed at different locations. Thanks.
From Huawei they have similar router and mesh possibility, also the price is about the same (AX3 Pro). Which one do you think is better? Xiaomi or Huawei for router?
Yes it is possible to set a single SSID for both 2.4 and 5GHz networks. Please check my review and comparison of AX3 Pro and AX1800 here: ruclips.net/video/BfDVYcS5Go8/видео.html. For the selection of the router, you should decide whether you want the Huawei ecosystem or Xiaomi, if you want to expand later in a Mesh. The main difference is the 80MHz or 160MHz in Mi AX180/Redmi AX5 or the AX3 series. If you have a 160MHz compatible device then you can consider. Thanks.
You can only configure a mesh network between Xiaomi Wi-Fi 6 routers. If you want to connect to your modem wirelessly then you should use the wireless repeater model. Please follow this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/jS4l-YL6rfQ/видео.html , it is a similar process. Thanks.
I'd like to know as well. Also, do both routers actually use the wired connection? Or do they communicate with each other only via Wifi? I hope I can set both up as AP's and use them with a wired connection towards my ISP router to avoid additional wifi traffic.
Sorry for the late reply. I have been experimenting on this. There is no native support but I found a solution and yes it will work. But the steps are not so easy and you will lose access to the Xiaomi router settings from the app. I am thinking of making a tutorial on this. Anyways these are the steps: 1. Set up the host Xiaomi Router normally by connecting a LAN cable from your main ISP router to the WAN port. 2. Connect the child routers via mesh to the host as shown in my video. In case you want to connect via cable, connect to the WAN port of the child. 3. In the web interface of the host, go to Common Setting->LAN Settings. Disable DHCP. 4. Connect the LAN cable from your main ISP router to any of the 3 LAN ports on the Xiaomi Host instead of the WAN port. This is needed coz the LAN ports are switched but the WAN port is not. Now the setup is complete and you should be able to see the connected devices using your ISP router and IPs are assigned by your ISP router. Note: Your Xiaomi routers' Internet LED indicators may be OFF/Orange in this mode. And you cannot access it from the APP. If you need to access the settings, you need to manually assign your computer IP address to the Xiaomi Host Router's IP domain e.g. 192.168.31.10 etc. and go to 192.168.31.1 in your browser to access the Web Interface. Thanks.
@@BennyVermeulen Yes they can connect to each other via Cable. In mesh, you have to connect the child routers to the Xiaomi host Router via cable. If you want to connect both routers to the ISP router via cable, you can set up the Wired Repeater mode and connect them to the ISP router. This is the AP mode. However the routers are not in a Mesh. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife Thanks. I'll install the ax3600 in the garage where the cables go to all the rooms. Seems to be the easiest option. Lets hope the range is ok for the main floor. The Ax1800 will go upstairs. Do you connect the cable on the "child" on the wan of lan port?
OR I can use the guidlines above, connect via LAN but lose app support? I am a little confused because you said AP mode and mesh do work earlier, but later you wrote (in a reply to me) mesh does not work?
Can you please let me know the Exact model number? Do you mean Mi WiFi extender pro? If its correct then, that is just a 2.4Ghz repeater and no Wi-Fi 6.

No we can't control the wireless mesh backhaul. You can only connect the Ethernet to switch to wired backhaul, but wireless is automatic. You can instead use the wireless repeater mode in 2.4Ghz Thank you.
Great video! I've subscribed. I have two of the Ax3600. When I do a factory reset of the second one and make it form a mesh, it all works. But when I try and go to the settings it asks for a password and it will not accept the password it had before the factory reset (which it shouldn't) or the password of the first gateway ax3600 it is meshed with. What would the password be? What am I doing wrong? I'll try the apk you linked.
Oh that's weird. In my case the Child router password, that is the Redmi AX5, is the Admin password of the AX1800. Did you set the Admin password of the main AX3600 during the very first set up? If you did then it should be the password of the child router. Please try and let me know. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife I know right? @@DSmartLife still no luck. Same firmware, even tried a few other things. I hadn't merged 5 & 2.4gh wifi names, so did it all from scratch and tried that as well. Every time it creates the mesh, but doesn't sync the admin password to child router. The result is the mesh works but you can never change anything after as the changes won't sync to the child because you or the gateway router can't get in to admin it. In a mesh network with xiaomi routers, multiple nodes (such as wifi routers) form a single network with greater coverage. Connecting devices can see only one network without any problem when roaming across the entire network, for example, when you move with a client (for example a mobile), the mobile connects to each of the different nodes automatically. Is It correct?
Ok thanks, I had doubts about the xiaomi mesh network, another question, is there any difference between the mesh network made by xiaomi routers (ax5, ax6, ax3600, ax1800) and a mesh network made by the pack-2 system of xiaomi mi mesh? What would you recommend me?
@@raullc8400 I don't have the older Xiaomi Mesh router. But I think the new WiFi 6 mesh systems work well and are compatible with all Xiaomi WiFi 6 routers, making it easier to add to the network later. However, the 2 pack mesh may be well paired and could be better as a system. Depends on your budget and requirement. If you need Wi-Fi 6 then the new ones are the only choice. thanks.
I didn't get your query fully. Are you talking about the Ethernet Backhaul Mesh? In that case, yes, it is possible to create a mesh connection using the ethernet cable connected to the LAN port of the host router (AX3600-1) to the WAN port of the Child router (AX3600-2). But first you should pair the routers wirelessly and later connect them via wire. Thanks.
@@danishwitanto279 You should reset the child router before searching for mesh routers from the host router. Please watch this: ruclips.net/video/4mIyD2ADrAk/видео.html to find the upgrade tutorial and downloads links. Thanks.
I think it is designed to make the mesh network according to this order: Wired LAN > 5GHz > 2.4GHz. So if your child router doesn't have LAN back haul and 5GHz connection, it should be connected to the Host via 2.4GHz if available. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife i have 2 ax1800 and setup the mesh, the child node can connect only at near distance (I believe its 5ghz) when I transfer the child node to area where 2ghz only is available (from base/parent) the child node cannot be connected.

I have got one question: Is it also possible to use the Gigabit LAN Connections for a remote NAS via the redmi in mesh-mode?

What do you mean by a remote NAS? Anyways, if you have a NAS system then you can use the LAN ports of the router to connect to the NAS, and yes it will work even if the router is a child mesh node. Thanks.

AX1800 com ax1800
does the ax3000 support mesh ethernet backhaul?
I'm researching this mi mesh thing. All the articles and tutorials for some reason put AX5 and AX6 routers as children in the mesh configuration. I wonder if AX models can only serve as child nodes or could act as a host as well? Could I form a mesh with two AX5 routers? Did you try it?
Yes you can do so. AX5 can be the host router. There is no difference between AX1800 and AX5. I used AX5 as child because it can be wall mounted. I think that's why most people use it as child coz AX3600/1800 are just table top form factor. Thanks.

Hey I have two questions about this:

Thanks.
DSmartLife Would you suggest wired or wireless connection?
A wired backhaul with CAT6 cable for 1Gbps link will be the best. Thanks.

I just remember one last question..
How about the speed between the routers, is there any different from one to another?
@@shnk91_ The speed depends on the signal strength between the host and the child routers. The child routers will have decreased speed if the signal isn't good, or you can use an ethernet backhaul to get a stable speed. Thanks.

Hello, I use AX5, there is no menu to activate guest wifi
could you help me how to turn on guest mode on ax5?
Hello,
I am going crazy with choosing a wifi router.
Thanks.
@@DSmartLife Thanks man! Very helpful!

Is it possible to do mesh if one router is wired with ethernet cable and another one placed in another floor with no ethernet connection?
For wireless mesh mode, will Mi router connect to the Mi host router or connect to the main router?
From Huawei they have similar router and mesh possibility, also the price is about the same (AX3 Pro). Which one do you think is better? Xiaomi or Huawei for router?
Also is it possible to have the same SSID name for both 2.4 and 5G network?
Yes it is possible to set a single SSID for both 2.4 and 5GHz networks. Please check my review and comparison of AX3 Pro and AX1800 here: ruclips.net/video/BfDVYcS5Go8/видео.html. For the selection of the router, you should decide whether you want the Huawei ecosystem or Xiaomi, if you want to expand later in a Mesh. The main difference is the 80MHz or 160MHz in Mi AX180/Redmi AX5 or the AX3 series. If you have a 160MHz compatible device then you can consider. Thanks.
Can u plz show us the difference in speed between 5GHz and cable backhule
How do I use my AX1800 as mesh on my current modem-router without using LAN cables? I want to connect it to the main modem-router wirelessly. Thanks
Thanks.

@@DSmartLife awesome! thank you sir for your very informative post.

Hi,
Will mesh setup work if both set to AP mode? I already have a router and prefer to use that for routing job.
Anyways these are the steps:

What would the password be? What am I doing wrong?
I'll try the apk you linked.
Oh that's weird. In my case the Child router password, that is the Redmi AX5, is the Admin password of the AX1800. Did you set the Admin password of the main AX3600 during the very first set up? If you did then it should be the password of the child router. Please try and let me know. Thanks.

How to mesh with 2.4ghz? Because by default the available is 5ghz
I think it is designed to make the mesh network according to this order: Wired LAN > 5GHz > 2.4GHz. So if your child router doesn't have LAN back haul and 5GHz connection, it should be connected to the Host via 2.4GHz if available. Thanks.
