Good job! I did some testing too 1) I managed to manage the wifi router from the same ip address range as my own network. You have to do the following: first get the cable out of the WAN port. Then change the lan ip address to a ip address in your home network range. Now you can connect the WAN interface (on DHCP-mode) again. The web interface will give you a notice that there is a IP-conflict but you can ignore that now you can use the website and through the app! 2) something strange I found out. The AX3600 is connected with 2 cables (WAN&LAN), the AX1800 is only connected with 1 cable (only LAN), but still I can manage the AX1800 from both the web interface and app. I still didn't figure out how, maybe because the AX3600 is connected with both interfaces? don't know but it works!

Rather than having to set a static IP on your pc, you could just set each of the AP mode devices IP address to the same subnet as the main router. Eg. The main router with DHCP server enabled will still be used as the gateway as assigned by DHCP.
Yes that's convenient but the AP mode router will give an error telling that the subnet domain cannot be the same as the main router. This is because we are making a custom AP manually by disabling the DHCP and there is no native support. Therefore it was not possible to set the IP address of the AP mode routers in the way suggested by you. I have a big house with many dead spots. I intend to use 4 Redmi AX6 - 1 as the main router to the ISP and connect the other 3 as AccessPoints (via wired network) in various parts of the house. Can the 3 APs still function as as mesh network?

To my surprise, the 3rd one came with a different firmware 1.0.506 and I can't update to the one that support mesh. Do you have a download link to an older firmware for the ax1800? This way, I should be able to upgrade to the mesh version. Thank you!

Hello, I just bought 1 xiaomi AX1800 and was planning to use it as wifi extender. Is that possible? If yes, how to do it if my main router is the one provided by my internet provider (which is not a xiaomi brand)?
Hey, great video, I've watched it twice now. I too would like to see how the roaming performance is. Specifically, can you test the roaming with both the ax3600 and the ax5 hardwired in AP mode?
Hi! Currently I'm using both ax5 (main) n ax1800 in mesh networking. My new Ax6 router is otw for better mesh networking coverage. My question is, does it matter which router set as main router for optimal performance? Since Ax6 router is different from my current router which have more antenna and band, plus support of 160mhz, must it be the main router? Fyi, my modem/main router location is at different floor from where most of my time accessing the net.
Unless you are using a LAN back haul, I think it will matter. Better make the bigger router as the main router, just for better coverage and connection to your child routers. The 160MHz may not matter much unless your child routers support 160MHz. Thanks
Hi, it's possible to use two xiaomi routers in backhaul Ethernet in ap mode (both) and mesh? Connect both xiaomi routers directly to the Isp Route with cable. . Do you know if it works? Thanks
ok so typically you have your ISP router Xiaomi Router A Xiaomi Router B. If you don't mind Router A being set in 'Router mode' then yes no issues. The backhaul between A and B can be wired If you want Router A to be in AP mode, do it like his video but if you have a AX6000, your WAN port will be in 1Gbps instead of 2.5Gbps sadly
For someone who rich but choosing Xiaomi Mesh, Xiaomi limited Mesh network for maximum of four nodes (I using 1 AX 3600 and 4 AX 1800, yet 1 AX 1800 is wired due to the limit)
Hello, Im trying to run my ax1800 as an AP, after setting it up and disabling DHCP, then moving from WAN to LAN, I see the connection but cannot access the router if I want to configure it.
Yes, as I have mentioned in the video, you will loose access to the router interface. Please assign a custom IP in order to gain access to the router as shown 6:40. The IP domain may be different in your case. Thanks.
Yes it is quite good and mesh also works well. No native VLAN support though and currently no English web interface. I don't have the nighthawk ax1800 to compare and it is a lot more expensive. Thanks for your comment.
Hey DSmartlife, I have a router provided by my ISP, a tplink archer c6 which i use in Access point mode, and a RE300 range extender. Tp link also has a software mesh, but unfortunately it's unavailable for the C6 in AP mode. If i were to replace the tplink devices with xiaomi ones, would the Xiaomi ax1800 allow mesh networking in AP mode?
Xiaomi recommend 4 routers maximum in a mesh, but I'm not sure if there can be more or if it's a strict restrictions. Sorry, unable to test it as I have only 3 of them right now. Thanks.
I'm setting AX5 as main router downstairs connected to fo internet and AX6 as mesh child node upstairs connected via ethernet backhaul. It's ok with this setup or it should be the other way around? Reason I need AX6 upstairs as it's more connected device there. My fo modem located downstairs. Also how to setup mesh wifi with ethernet backhaul? Is it setup mesh AX5-AX6 via wifi first then after finish setup can connect the ethernet backhaul cable thereafter (and then ethernet backhaul automatically takeover communication between node?). Please give suggestion. Thanks!
There should be no problem with AX5 as the host router. Yes you are right. First set up the mesh by placing the routers next to each other via WiFi and then later you connect the routers using the cable. And it should switch to Ethernet backhaul. Thanks.
I guess the Guest WIFI won't be working in this setup, right? I have 2 AX3600 connected in a mesh and attached the "main" as AP to a Linksys WRT3200 (running OpenWRT). And as it seems, the LAN ports of the "slave" mesh client can't be used either...although the DHCP provides a regular 192.168.31.x IP, I can't reach anything.
in a 3-floors house already connected each other with a ethernet wire. I'd like to put 3 access points, one for each floor. Is it possibile to connect three Mi AX1800 all togehter in ethernet backhoul and use them as wifi access points in a mesh network? or alternatively one mi ax3600 as main router and 2 ax1800 . thx
Yes you can use an Ethernet Backhaul for 3 routers in both the configuration that you have mentioned. Make sure you make the mesh config before the Ethernet connections. Thanks.
So many pros and cons.. I just got the AX6000 (2x). I'm able to push (so far) 1.5Gbps from my laptop. So if I take out the WAN and use a LAN instead, I'll lose that unfortunately.
I have 1 main router and 3 mesh, the main router is connected to my load balancer, both load balancer and main ax3600 are offering dhcp. Do you know how can I setup using single dhcp network from load balancer router only?
I have 2 AX 1800 and I try your setup to have mesh between the 2 ax 1800 and one of them as AP for wifi connections. I try to follow your instructions, but it doesn't work. My ax 1800 router is still in router mode and when I connect it to a LAN port, I loose Internet Access. I think, I miss a step to change the ax 1800 mode from router to Access Point. In the video, I see only 2 steps : stop dhcp server and change lan cable from wan port to lan port. That's all. Is it right ? Can you help ?
Yes right. First disable DHCP service in the router you want to make AP. And then plug there cable from the host router to it's LAN port. It should work with the IP from the Host router. You can also check the IP of your connected device if it is from the host and if it worked. Please let me know. Thanks.
Questions : 1. Can you setup a mesh system with 3 AX1800 routers? 2. Can you setup the second and third router wireless to the first router to make a mesh setup or must it be connected with a network cable? Thx
Yes you can setup a mesh with up to 4 Xiaomi routers. It can be 3 AX1800 too. No you do not need a network cable if the Wi-Fi strength to the host router is good. Thanks.
So i just installed 2 AX1800 in mesh mode. I can't be sure of the options you have mentioned. I don't have all those routers. Just to make it clear, only xiaomi routers can mesh with one another, xiaomi and tenda aren't compatible in a mesh. You can only configure as an extender between different branded routers, but not mesh. Thanks.

I've got the Ax3600 (Parent) & Ax1800 (Child) set up in a mesh configuration. When I'm closer to the Ax1800 though, it doesn't seem to connect to the Child, stays on the slower Ax3600 signal. Should I change the Ax3600 WiFi strength to low, it's currently on Standard?
That is weird. The Mesh uses the 802.11 k/v/r protocol for Wi-Fi Roaming and switching networks. I was thinking that this protocol is supported in most modern devices. But if your device OS doesn't support these protocols, I think the seamless roaming may not work. It seems others also have some problems e.g. t.ly/YKMP Thanks.
@@amirbh110 Well in that case why you need to set up as a manual AP mode on the AX5? Just set it up as a wired repeater mode while it's connected to the main router. This mode is the official AP mode in Xiaomi routers. But we can't set this config in a mesh, hence my tutorial. Thanks.
how to disable wps? when i look wifi analyzer siganl strength it tells me wps is active and i dont see option to disable anywhere i managed to login website and also using app dont see it
WPS feature in Xiaomi routers can only be turned on manually Via the MiWiFi App, for only 2minutes. And if any device connects to the router when the WPS is turned on manually within that 2 minutes, it will show in the App. WPS does not turn on automatically. And neither there is a physical button on the router for WPS. Hence, I think you need not worry about it. To my surprise, the 3rd one came with a different firmware 1.0.506 and I can't update to the one that support mesh. Do you have a download link to an older firmware for the ax1800? This way, I should be able to upgrade to the mesh version. Thank you!
I understand the problem. My other viewer had the same problem. Please download the AX1800 Firmware that I have given in this tutorial and update it: ruclips.net/video/4mIyD2ADrAk/видео.html by following the tutorial. Thanks.
Hello, I just bought 1 xiaomi AX1800 and was planning to use it as wifi extender. Is that possible? If yes, how to do it if my main router is the one provided by my internet provider (which is not a xiaomi brand)?
Hi, is it possible to setup AX3600 as main router, then connect AX1800 via MESH to AX3600?
Yes It's I've done like this.
Curious, why isn't the 3600 your primary router? Isn't it better than the 1800?
Good job, how about testing the roaming in the mesh network
Thank you for your support. I'll do the roaming test soon.
Thanks
@@DSmartLife understand but will try to set a child first. Believe unless all router with tri-band otherwise it meaningless in mesh networking. Thanks
I wish you compared the speeds.
i wanna know how fast a wifi connection between the two routers is
Hi, it's possible to use two xiaomi routers in backhaul Ethernet in ap mode (both) and mesh?
Connect both xiaomi routers directly to the Isp Route with cable. . Do you know if it works?
Thanks
ok so typically you have your ISP router Xiaomi Router A Xiaomi Router B.
If you don't mind Router A being set in 'Router mode' then yes no issues. The backhaul between A and B can be wired
If you want Router A to be in AP mode, do it like his video but if you have a AX6000, your WAN port will be in 1Gbps instead of 2.5Gbps sadly
Can the AX3600 be used as a mesh point without LAN cable?
For someone who rich but choosing Xiaomi Mesh, Xiaomi limited Mesh network for maximum of four nodes (I using 1 AX 3600 and 4 AX 1800, yet 1 AX 1800 is wired due to the limit)
Hello,
Im trying to run my ax1800 as an AP, after setting it up and disabling DHCP, then moving from WAN to LAN, I see the connection but cannot access the router if I want to configure it.
Yes, as I have mentioned in the video, you will loose access to the router interface. Please assign a custom IP in order to gain access to the router as shown 6:40. The IP domain may be different in your case. Thanks.
Hello. thank you for your videos. Is the AX1800 good? I am planning to buy one. I`m thinking of the NetGear Nighthawk AX1800 too. Thanks.
Yes it is quite good and mesh also works well. No native VLAN support though and currently no English web interface. I don't have the nighthawk ax1800 to compare and it is a lot more expensive. Thanks for your comment.
it is support mesh if i have ax3600 chinese version and ax1800 global?
Hey DSmartlife,
I have a router provided by my ISP, a tplink archer c6 which i use in Access point mode, and a RE300 range extender.
Tp link also has a software mesh, but unfortunately it's unavailable for the C6 in AP mode.
If i were to replace the tplink devices with xiaomi ones, would the Xiaomi ax1800 allow mesh networking in AP mode?
Yes you can set up a custom AP after setting up the Mesh with AX1800 as shown in the video. Thanks.
Nice vid! can you connect 5 ax5 in mesh for a big house? or is it limited to less routers?
Xiaomi recommend 4 routers maximum in a mesh, but I'm not sure if there can be more or if it's a strict restrictions. Sorry, unable to test it as I have only 3 of them right now. Thanks.
Yes u can now. The limit has been upped to 10
I'm setting AX5 as main router downstairs connected to fo internet and AX6 as mesh child node upstairs connected via ethernet backhaul.
Thanks.
@@DSmartLife Thanks!
THANK YOU SIR!
Can I Setup Xiaomi Router AP Mode and Mesh Network with 2 device AC2350???, pls help me
in a 3-floors house already connected each other with a ethernet wire.
Hello my friend, did you try meshing AX3600 and AX1800 ? Is it working good ?
Yes I have. It works good, no issues so far. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife Both of them should be in China rom ?
@@simalyuksel Yes. Both should be Chinese FW. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife Thank you my friend, i will try this night.
I have 1 main router and 3 mesh, the main router is connected to my load balancer, both load balancer and main ax3600 are offering dhcp. Do you know how can I setup using single dhcp network from load balancer router only?
setup like video is ok. load balancer is similar to main router, and then ax3600 will be AP with DHCP mode (disable DHCP).
Can I connect AX3600 and AX3000 from Xiaomi in MESH mode ?
Thanks.
@@DSmartLife thank you dude 👌🏾💫
So i just installed 2 AX1800 in mesh mode. Got it working but now I want to change the names of the routers but when going into wifi settings I get a message " Turn off Wi-Fi switch is not supported in Mesh mode" and I cant make changes in the settings. Any idea what I should do? 1 AX wired connected to main provider router and 2end AX wireless connected to the first AX1800. thx
@@MrBokkyboy You want to change the Wi-Fi SSID? Are you not able to do that using the App? You cannot turn off the WiFi network but I think you can change the SSID. If you are not able to do so, you have to reset the main router. Thanks.

Can you add another AX5 connected (by ethernet cable) from existing AX5 to expand the mesh network?
Yes you can use ethernet cable between the two AX5s to expand the Mesh network. Thanks.

Yes it is only for Xiaomi Devices. Just search for MiWiFi App on the app stores. Thanks.
Is it possible to create an wifi mesh with AP's on the same ip range of an non mesh router? (with ip addressses delivered by de the main router)
Thank you
I am assuming that the non mesh router is the main router with DHCP? In that case, yes you can setup AP mesh with the non mesh router as your DHCP. Thanks.

Hi! Great job
Thank you! 🤗
Why use AX3000 as main router instead of more powerful AX6000
Can I use ax3600 as my main router and ax1800 as my wireless wifi range extender? Is it the same as mesh set up? Thanks a lot!
Yes you can use it as a WiFi range extender. But extender is not the same as Mesh setup. If possible, do the Mesh instead as it's more advanced. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife Can I make a wireless mesh set up with this?
Yes you can do so. Please watch my tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/FZWEk_PSg6s/видео.html. The process is the same for all Xiaomi WiFi 6 routers. Thanks.

what you recommend for Mesh network Speed and coverage ?
A- 2 router of (Xiaomi AX3600 )
B- 1 router ( Xiaomi AX3600) + Tenda Nova pack 3 of MW5
I can't be sure of the options you have mentioned. I don't have all those routers. Just to make it clear, only xiaomi routers can mesh with one another, xiaomi and tenda aren't compatible in a mesh. You can only configure as an extender between different branded routers, but not mesh. Thanks.

Can ax3600 mesh with other brand?
No, only with Xiaomi WiFi 6 Routers.

It seems others also have some problems e.g. t.ly/YKMP Thanks.

how to disable wps? when i look wifi analyzer siganl strength it tells me wps is active and i dont see option to disable anywhere i managed to login website and also using app dont see it
WPS feature in Xiaomi routers can only be turned on manually Via the MiWiFi App, for only 2minutes. And if any device connects to the router when the WPS is turned on manually within that 2 minutes, it will show in the App. WPS does not turn on automatically. And neither there is a physical button on the router for WPS. Hence, I think you need not worry about it. The WiFi Analyzer is showing that the feature is available, but not that it is active for connection. However, there is no way to permanently disabled the feature. Thanks.
@@DSmartLife the fact that wps is showing in wifi analyzer proves it is enabled and therefore the router is not secure and vulnerable to simple brute force attack. I should maybe request refund.
