A friend of mine gave me a jar vacuum I have not had a chance to use it yet, but after seeing your video I was excited thinking that maybe the one that I was given also had where you could do the vacuum seal bags which would be fantastic but unfortunately mine does not do that, it does both the regular jars and the wide mouth jars though.
Jar sealers are sooo incredibly useful. A small little kitchen tool that everyone should have for sure. I love how you show all the different ways it can be used. I have to say thou, taking the sealer apart for different size jars would drive me crazy. The one I have is one piece that fits both jars (plus bags/containers)...its called vidavac.
I came back to tell you I used your link and on your recommendation I ordered this Vacuum sealer. It’s wonderful ! I’ve been sealing away and it’s so handy. I live in a very small house with limited counter space so I cannot leave my food saver out and it’s just a pain to pull it in and out to seal a jar. This is a game changer ! Thank you.
@@RidgeHavenHomestead I purchased both sizes back before the new ones came out several years ago. Don’t vacuum seal sugar! It turns it into a rock. Ps what size jar works for a pound of peppermint? It is way bigger than a gallon jar and I don’t want to waste it
@Mindy56743 I think I’d probably split it into smaller jars, otherwise you’d have to open it multiple times and break the seal anyway. I smash mine as much as possible (dried well) and pack into quart jars for tea, but that’s just me. If I used it frequently I’d probably store it in half gallon jars, but I don’t use it often. What about your vac seal bags? I think that would work very well, because it would compress it. Then when opened it could go into jars. 🫙 idk that’s probably what I’d do.
I’ve been wondering about these for a long time. I hate dragging out my food saver to re seal all of my dehydrated foods. This would be so much more convenient. Great review!
strange you have to hold it for it to seal. I got one from amazon for like $29 and I do not have to hold it. I just slide it on and press the button. I physically cannot remove the lid without the tool it came with. I have sealed about 15 jars without issue.
That’s good to know. I was just getting the hang of the vacuum sealer in the video, a pure newby. Glad yours is working well, and will keep practicing with mine!
I left the brand in the video description with a link. You are right/-there are many brands. I don’t know if this is the best, but it’s working so far for us.
Those things are junk. They will pull enough vacuum to hold the lid down, but there's still a TON of air inside the jar. If you ever get a chance to use a proper vacuum chamber with a proper vacuum pump, you'll completely understand.
I think there are many similar jar sealers. I like this one, but if you search for mason jar vacuum sealers, you can probably find one similar. This company reached out to me, so I reviewed their product, but it’s only one of many. Check online and if you have a local bulk food store, they may carry one similar.

Sounds great!
I don’t really take the sealer apart. It fits both sizes.

Glad you like it. I’m enjoying mine, and need to learn more about what foods I should vacuum seal.
Thanks for this review, I'm considering this type of product.
Hope you find one that works well for your needs.
I saw a video that said to leave an inch of air at the top.
Ok, thanks!
Good to know! 😃
Thanks 🙂
You are very welcome! 🤗
I have the old fashioned one that works with my food saver
I’ve never tried one of those, although I have friends who have used them.

It’s pretty handy.

so what is the resulting air pressure in a jar? is it 0.9 bar or 0.1 bar?
Thanks for asking.
I do not actually know.
No one asks questions like this. The answer is probably something like, "Make push a button go burrr seal!"
Corded is better than Lithium batteries.... just sayin' folk's 😲
Because of the power they put out or some other reason? The cordless is pretty handy.

I have never actually used ANY kind of vac sealer, so this was fun to try!

Hi. Try looking for a mennonite/amish catalog. They are very helpful
@kathygriffin9465 Good idea! 👍
