is the growing list of best-in-class missiles it can fire.
It can't compete PL15 or Amraam C7 in BVR.

most long range air-to-air missiles miss their targets, while they are heavy for an aircraft to carry.
in the case of China's long range missiles, multiply the miss rate by 2.
medium range a2a missiles have a much higher kill probability and more of them can be carried.

Sir, meteor was part of the rafale package. All kinds of missiles are used and purchased so that alone implies nothing.
Long range missiles only hit their target somewhere between 15 to 25% of the time. The weight penalty for carrying them is to the exclusion of much more deadly medium and short range missiles.
Short range missiles these days almost guaranteed a kill of the pilot can get a lock. They don't get fooled by chaff and flares like missiles from the 70s.
In general, the strategy is to carry a mix of long, medium and short range missiles depending on the mission.
It's not just carry a couple of long range missiles and miss all targets.
Long < Medium < Short.
All of these successful integration and tests
will help accelerate the AMCA
because a lot of this will migrate over to the AMCA.

Happy with the progress in the Tejas program overall. Sounds like Tejas Mk1a and Tejas Mk2 together will massively modernize offensive and point defense capabilities of the IAF.
AMCA delay is purely on the government. Given how closely the IAF is monitoring and supporting the AMCA program, I have no doubt that ADA's design is up to the mark and next generation, need GOI to give that long due funding ASAP.
TEDBF is something which evokes least reaction and it makes sense. It depends on IAC 2 as well. Plus once AMCA, Tejas Mk2 and Tejas Naval are ready, I don't think there is any technology missing that needs to be re-engineered for the TEDBF in terms of avionics and on flight hardware.

I think AMCA's funding is on hold due to two factors, MRFA project and 2024 elections.
Both AMCA and MRFA are extremely costly projects, and both would be funded simultaneously - this should be a single administration investment because in our nation, a change in governance kills and resurrect projects causing huge amount of money going unaccounted for - I have never seen such stupidity in any nation whose national objective remains unchanged no matter the administration.
Meanwhile, people want bus rides and train rides to be free of cost and they vote for such trivial issues, as if they are commuting daily to hospital and not to earn. And hon'ble SC is ready to sell law and order of our nation to Soros foundation.

Neither Tajas MK2 nor AMCA before 2030
Tejas mk2 certainly by 2029 but AMCA in 2031-2032
Mark 2 will be from 2029 after mark 1a delivery
So by choosing AMCA mk1 to be single engined aircraft, ADA is overburdening itself with engineering efforts on turning it into twin engined mk2 version which would require significant effort on extensive redesign of the airframe and structural stealth aspects, aerodynamics (putting it again on another cycle of wind tunnel testing), redesign of control laws, weight distribution and further load test delaying the induction of AMCA mk2 to as late as 2080 possibly, by which timeframe the US would have test flown their 8th generation fighter jet. How so? AMCA mk1 is slated for roll out in 2030 and induction by 2040 but that wont happen before 2055 going by ADA's track records of delays further complicated by bureaucracy in the defense ministry. Afyer that mk2 will be on the drawing boards, cooling its feet for release of funds upto 2060 and rool out and flight trial will happen by 2070 only. So the induction of AMCA mk2 can be fairly concluded to take place around 2080.
ADA engineers are themselves running the program like a school science project with no seriousness on their part to act like an institution association with defense industry responsible for national security and they are just justifying their self importance to themselves by creating unnecessary workload for them and their future colleagues to make them appear as their hands full with important work. Had they been serious, they would maintain the twin engine requirement commonality across the two variants so that engines on mk1 version could be replaced easily on mk2 with a more sophisticated engine of greater thrust, less signatures, less weight, greater specific thrust and fuel economics and longer MTBO and overall service life once that was available.

LCA looks like a trainer jet, not a real fighter jet. It should be converted to an unmanned and trainer jet. India should focus on AMCA and not LCA variants now, as it is already obsolete.
