Weedons NZMCA Park (NZMCA members only), Christchurch, New Zealand

This was the first NZMCA park I've stayed at. I stayed five nights.
Weedons NZMCA Park is a private caravan park for NZMCA members only, and members must have a certified self-contained vehicle. If you’re not an NZMCA member, you will need to join the association if you want to use this park.
Weedons is located just south of Christchurch at 286 Jones Road, Rolleston. It’s halfway between Rolleston and Templeton.

There are now 3 parks nearby, Ashburton, Weedons, The Willows and Kaiapoi
The time limit is also a condition of the resource consent to operate for some of the NZMCA properties.
A great video on the park and facilities, nice to see. Hopefully they will get some road maintenance done soon.

To be fair to Weedons, the entire South Island is covered in pot holes, even SH1. Vehicle damage and caravan cracks are part of life in the South Island. My left caravan light was smashed by stone flicking up on a gravel road in Canterbury.
There are several great freedom camps in Selwyn too. Beautiful and peaceful.

My voice-over sounds quite serious in this one because I bought a new microphone and I was trying to get it to record without recording the whirring fan in my laptop. The voice recording ended up sounding a bit rushed and serious because I was focusing on the microphone.

Yes I agree...I suspect it's because the membership numbers have grown so fast that the club is cutting stay time's to ten days to fit every one in..I think membership has to be capped at some point in the future... I've noticed that the like button on your posts isn't working!!.🤔💕🇳🇿

Did they used to allow people to stay longer than 10 nights? It's annoying, because I needed repairs on my fridge (I had to wait to book the job in and wait for parts), and I had to stay at a holiday park to avoid overstaying my limit at Weedons, even though Weedons was empty at time. I just don't see why we can't stay longer when the park is empty and we're waiting for repairs to be done. There's no other NZMCA park nearby and the max stay is so short for people who are waiting for parts to arrive for repairs in Christchurch.
At NZMCA Tekapo, the max stay is only 7 nights.

@@caravanlifenz yes it was 21 days at one point...I had some radiation therapy a couple of years back and Thay let me stay 21 days then... worth calling head office and asking if you can extend.💕🇳🇿

21 days would be so much better than the 7-10 days they have now. I was thinking of not renewing my NZMCA membership when it expires in February because it hasn't been worth it for $5 per night (compared to the $0 at freedom camps), but I think I'll renew it just purely because I'd already signed up for NZMCA Covi Insurance when I bought the caravan.

@@caravanlifenz no I wouldn't if I was you...the benefits far out way the negatives , I've been frustrated at times with the club and the behavior of a small minority of the members , but for safety reasons and the risks of damage and theft of our caravan when we leave it unattended well we go and dump or sight see I don't use freedom camping spots ...far safer in a club site or POP , safety in numbers and all that..the $100 dollar a year is the best value ever... I've thought of leaving on a few occasions my self , but when I weighed up the +& - I always come to the same conclusion... it's the only way I can afford to keep caravaning!.💕🇳🇿

I think this spot has a limited time to stay due to a consent condition placed on it because of the airport.
