I visited christchurch from Auckland not too long ago and I was so impressed. It's really beautiful down there. The square area is so new and spacious. It looks amazing on a sunny day.
I'm so pleased to hear you had a great time here! Sing out if you're ever thinking of moving to the Garden City.
😃
Try it in winter, fog , freezing and it stays that way.
@@dorrisday1518 you're not wrong! unless you have one of those crisp, clear days with the sun out :)
@@griffioencaleb I own a house in Charing Cross
This is the most flawless real-estate video I've ever seen. The music was fun, shot exquisite and I think you have a buyer ;)
It's Nice to see cities that aren't run down and homelessness everywhere like un-United States of America. People hate people in America. It's sad
Thanks for your message, Aaron! While I’m trying to show the best side of Christchurch, we’re not without our own homeless population. It’s a sad reality of today’s society 😕
@@griffioencaleb I've been working full time since 18 years old. I'm 45 now. It's because rent, food, necessities, etc have tripled in price in 20 years. My wage hasn't tripled. It's actually gone down. Homelessness is right around the corner for all of us.
@@aaronmayhew2.0 I’m sorry to read this, Aaron! 💔 I’m a firm believer that more needs to be done to address our housing affordability issues because I think everyone should be able to live in a warm, dry, home at a cost that allows people to live their lives.
There are homeless every damn where in this town. Its actually one of the hardest places to survive and Ive lived on four continents.
@@David-og7di it's like they want us all homeless. Some freedom
Well made Caleb. Had to click when I saw my old friend from long ago famous on RUclips haha. Christchurch is finally starting to kick into gear finally I feel now post earthquakes, taken its time but it’s starting to take shape around town!
Hahah small world eh? Hope you're keeping well, mate!
I live in Christchurch. The CBD is lovely as you’ve pointed out. Outside the CBD is just boring suburbs. At least it’s a lot cleaner than Auckland. 😊
Gawd here we go again.....I have head 20 people deride Auckland ...and NONE of them have ever been here ! 1/3 if the population of NZ live here for a reason. I find Chch people narrow minded and ignorant. Get life...
@Caleb thanks so much for the Discovery call earlier today.
Wow, it changed so many as I was in Chc 20 years ago. Beautiful.
Hope you can visit Ōtautahi soon!
My old city, I do miss it sometimes . Looks like it has a bright future!
Oh you must visit soon! So much has changed just in the past few years.
@@griffioencalebhi , me and my husband are planning to move to Christchurch, as we are thinking of buying a house there, we tried to buy in Auckland but here the prices are too high. Could you please let us know that how old should our jobs be in order to buy a house at Christchurch?
@@mrsrana7540 Hello, that's exciting news for you and your husband. There isn't a strict rule on how long you need to be in your current jobs before being able to get lending from the bank. You will, however, have to provide proof of income to satisfy their requirements.
If you are self employed like myself, you'll need to supply two years of financial statements to the bank.
Hope this helps!
so wonderful I sold up in Bromley and moved to Timaru because after 18 months the sewer treatment plant still isnt fixed
and you get a used LOTTO tkt for guessing what young Caleb does for a living
Eurgh the Council really dragged the chain in getting the sewerage treatment plant sorted! Hope you’re enjoying life in Timaru, Nik!
We moved to Christchurch and struggled to buy a decent house that was not over priced. Many houses were not repaired correctly after the earthquakes and are not worth the money real estate agents are asking. If you want to buy in Christchurch due your due diligence and don't be hoodwinked by real estate agents. The bottom line is good housing in hard to fine in Christchurch.
I hope you’ve found a great house now, Robert and that you’re enjoying life in Christchurch.
Given our earthquake history, through due diligence is absolutely essential when purchasing a home.
God bless us start and end your day with our ALMIGHTY GOD. THANK you so much
Ok at some point I got really distracted listening to the saxophone background music but also this was very informative so thank you for the information and the lovely saxophone tunes.
I'm doing the big move from Auckland. I have never been to the south island before, never even touched snow here on the north island, so there are a few adjustments but I'm ready!! Just looking for an agency to place me in full time employment, than I can do the move.
Great video thank you for sharing !!!!!
I Absolutely Love ❤ New Zealand 🇳🇿 and it Will be a Dream Come true👍 if i will Oneday get the Opportunity to Visit and Maybe Settle down and work in New Zealand 🇳🇿 and get to know the Amazing People of New Zealand 🇳🇿 😊. Am a Gambian 🇬🇲 Thanks 😊.
beware of earthquakes in Christchurch
and white supremists
Great video Caleb thanks for sharing. I wanted to ask if it's easy to get a Software Engineer job in Christchurch. I'm planning to migrate to Christchurch as an international Masters student.
Love Christchurch. However the escalation of crime is something that cannot be neglected when you have a family.
I moved down here in 2021. Originally it was gonna be for six months, it's now been nearly two years - I do not miss Auckland.
Only downside to Christchurch is that the winters are quite brutal. Everything else is great.
Agreed! Those winters get pretty crisp.
Now that you've been here for a couple of years, is there anything you wish you had known about living in Christchurch before you made the move?
How much does a flet Whyte cost in Christchurch? What about a Hamburger & chips? 🍟
Have to take all this into consideration, when your earning the minimum wage there...
Great video 👌👌
Thanks Ravinder! We’re working on our next vid which will be about the top five most searched Christchurch suburbs on TradeMe Property!
My dream country
Hii bro in this city what is the living cost for international students ?? In a month ?? Any idea ??
Hey Nikhil! International fees for a Bachelor of Arts at UC is around $30,000 NZD for the year.
Here’s a link to a helpful comparison chart for student accommodation at the University of Canterbury as a guide: www.canterbury.ac.nz/media/documents/accommodation/First-Year-Hall-Comparison-Chart-2023.pdf
You might also want to explore options at Ara Institute of Technology or Lincoln University as well 😊
thanks for this brother it's very useful ☺️ I am from India
I'm trying to relocate my my family to Christchurch from the US.
That's so cool! Let me know if there's anything you'd like to know about what it's like to live here.
@@griffioencaleb thank you! Do you know how accepting employers are of tattoos? My husband and I are both heavily tattooed.
@@fleetwoodmacncheese4159 This will depend on the line of work you’re in. Generally Kiwis are pretty accepting of tattoos. Air New Zealand recently changed their policy to allow Māori tattoos and non-offensive tattoos visible while in uniform.
@@griffioencaleb that's great! In Tennessee people aren't as accepting of tattoos. My husband is a CNC machinist and we're hoping he can get a skilled migrant visa. I'm currently a stay at home mom but plan on finding a job once all three of my kids are in school.
@@fleetwoodmacncheese4159 awesome! All the best with your plans for the future 😃
Hi sir, i have flight to christchurch on this November. I am an international student coming with my partner and 8yr old daughter. Will please provide me information about how to book accommodation ?
oh exactly same as me , what did you do for flatting there?
Where is the best barber to go to when in christchurch ?
Dog box
your home. Most things are unaffordable.
You’re right about the ‘resurgence’ part mate haha!
In what way…?
Isnt NZ facing high emigration rates right now with everyone jumping over to Australia.
Yes we are seeing more people leave the country, but we're seeing more arrivals at the same time.
Migration stats for June showed a net gain of 86,800 people.

👍
Hey Caleb. Great to see an iconic venue like the Isaac Theatre Royal on here(I am totally not biased). Next time you are shooting something like this let me know. We could potentially get you filming a segment on stage. I assume you still have my details.
That’s an amazing idea, Jack! It’s such a stunning building 😍
Its a dump broken toilet pipes, ram raides ,roads are crap, most people want to leave and go to Aust,Govt buildings you can not find or read the name
When was the list time you were, Mac?
Haha nice try Mac, how's the rain and traffic in Auckland?😅
This where I live ,,been in Christchurch since 1989
Did you get paid to do this?? Cross Fitzgerald Ave and show the real environment.
Let's go cruisin around the four aves!
Haha!!
ok. lost me when you called christchurch something odd. it is called christchurch - nothing else. it was founded by english settlers in 1850 - it was bare swamp before that. the first four ships arrived 3 months after leaving london. settling was organised by the anglican church and the province was named after the president of the canterbury association, the archbishop of canterbury. the city was named after christ church, a college of the university of oxford, uk. the avon river was named after a river in scotland.
You’re really telling me that Christchurch was a terra nullis prior to European settlement? 🤨
@@griffioencaleb correct. there were fewer than 500 maori in the whole of canterbury in 1850. some maori were in kaiapoi, some around banks peninsula. there were a handful of scottish farmers in riccarton. but, the early settlers from london aboard the first four ships settled christchurch because it was bare land inhabited by nobody. they developed the city from scratch in preparation for future settlers from the uk. the city was planned in london. later they brought over dutch to help drain the swamp. the city is called christchurch - nothing else. the maori town nearby is called kaiapoi - that is what you were thinking of. christchurch was settled by the church of england. kaiapoi was the site of a maori pa.
@@superkiwistar thank you for that informative history lesson. My intention is to carry on using Ōtautahi in reference to Christchurch in future videos. Kia pai te rā! 😊
@@griffioencaleb lol. don't waste time with any english - use 100% maori for all your listings.
Would you like an no-obligation, free market appraisal?
bull shit we MOVED OUT OF CH=CH earthquakes
Hope you’re happy in your new town or city, Elizabeth ☺️
Don’t like it after thquake
No decent jobs for permanent residents
what is with all this Maori talking, that is causing nothing but confusion. Wake up and speck the common language, that 95% of New Zealand use every day.
98% of what I’m saying is in English, Denys.
@@griffioencaleb perfect reply! Nothing wrong with Maori.
bro, just learn the native language. if you're confused about something, try learning it instead of throwing your toys out the cot when someone says words you don't understand.
@@crownart3668 you forgot to write your reply in maori. maori is significantly less important in the world than latin or espiranto, but it is right up there with klingon or elvish. virtually everyone in nz knows english - those who don't are more likely to speak chinese than maori.
@@superkiwistar would you understand the reply if it was in maori?? you're treating an entire native language as if it's irrelevant bc the area its from got colonized. nobody speaks the language because nobody bothers to learn, and when they DO, they get complaints from people like you who are too stubborn to learn anything other than english. and of course people are more likely to speak mandarin than maori?? mandarin is literally the most spoken language, but you wouldn't know that because you think that anyone who isnt white as paper should go back to where they came from.
Because it's the Woke Capital of Woke New Zealand?
Extremely racist area. Witnessed it so many times. Hope the cultured are alright down their.
There are none here....they left.
Totally agree
Be there for the next one
