  • As discussed, all of the postural movements found in Chen Lao Jia form (Yi Lu) and also the Chen Pao Chui form (Er Lu) can easily be found in various Taoist (Hua Shan Longevity Exercises) and Shaolin Rou Gong system such as the Shaolin Chan Yuan Gong and Louhan 13 Gong forms and also in Shaolin forms such as Yuan-Hou (Monkey Ape) form, Rou Quan Yi Lu and Er Lu, 108 Da Rou Quan, and most importantly the Shaolin Xie Quan form (Slating Boxing).
Shaolin Louhan system forms always go directly to the left. ALL the Rou Quan system forms always go to the right. Exactly as done in Chen and Yang taichi quan. Again, showing Rou quan system roots in TJQ.
This video ROUGHLY shows the OLD Yang form, from before Yang Chen Fu. It is much closer to Chen style and to Shaolin Quan.
Also, to prove the TJQ comes from Shaolin, I show how to use Shaolin staff techniques using all the movements of Yang TJQ.
Next, I ROUGHLY show the Old Chen TJQ Lao Jia form, from Chen YanXi, from before Chen Fake version of Chen TJQ.
Note, I purposely am not showing the movements with finesse, as I don't want people to learn from the video, they must have a teacher, which can be me. The forms are roughly showing the movements to make the point that Shaolin is the root of both the framework of the Lao Jia set and the postural movements, and even the internal martial arts and Qigong within Tai Chi Quan sets.

I plan to learn from you eventually. But I have been learning from many people remotely, and I know it is a long process. I was considering learning some things with videos online, and then going through you for some additional guidance. For example, since yang cheng fu version of yang style is readily available online, do you think it would reduce make it more efficient to learn the old yang style if somebody already learned the yang cheng fu style?

It’s fine if you learn the newer version first. Most of my students obviously did that. At least you have something that you can understand what you are altering
