@@francisco646 with me saying about Unleashed Fellas, if your Sonic Unleashed has An anthropomorphic hero, with a smaller travelling companion A planet cracked open, with only magical MacGuffins being used to put it back together Has a strong focus on melee combat And the only way to get from one part of the planet, to another, is to go by plane The that's not your Sonic Unleashed, that's... Star Fox Adventures!
Thanks for your kind words to SF Assault. As someone who grew with the gamecube, that was my favorite of the franchise and Nintendo insistance to only do 64 reheatings always saddened me.
My tinfoil hat theory is Nintendo doesn't like Assault because it was contracted out to a third party for development, much like F-Zero GX. More realistically though, assault get's alot of hate from the fanbase too, or used to, I think more people have warmed up to it now days. I remember not liking it back in the day, but more recently it's become one of my favourite games. The fact the on foot controls default set up is horrible, gave alot of people bad first impressions, they might not realize they could change it, it should have been changeable mid level from a pause menu rather than changeable only outside of gameplay. The on wing sections are kinda dumb too, just like conceptually, how is Fox not dead?, and why is his should mounted blaster clearly a superior weapon compared to the Arwing or the Wolfen's cannons? But man, I tell you what, that Orchestrated Soundtrack is something else, it's one of the best video game sound tracks that exists.
They are of course trying to be extremely careful with anyone discussing the voice lines since understandably, that can give Nintendo a free pass to murder the entire thing, possibly to include both Zelda games too. Asset replacement in general shouldn't cause a problem but for the moment at least, it takes no more than 2 min before someone mentions the leaks, so that's just bad juju
They said on the Discord they won’t have any involvement or support involving the uncompressed lines since they were an unauthorized leak and therefore illegal/piracy. Wouldn’t surprise me if someone else does it though
If Nintendo is too stubborn to give us anything, that can rival SF64, they should at least give it the Metroid Prime remaster treatment. Yeah there is the 3DS version, but that only mildly looked better and was optimized for a handheld. We need a proper TV version. Imagine a remaster, taking everything that the Switch 2 will have to offer.
@@Mari_Izu Yeah. Honestly the only thing I think could have made the remake better would be an option to toggle between the original voice recordings and the rerecordings. Either that or just skip rerecording and use the original voice recordings in an uncompressed form. Basically the equivalent of what we'll get when a 3DS texture pack becomes available tor Starship.
Dang, this looks buttery smooth, like those 2 levels in the original Starfox that actually ran at 30fps. Speaking of which, I would *love* if someone modded in that whole campaign.
You dont know how i wanted this game to be ported to PC, Seeing all of the possibilites that Mario 64 had with it's PC port with mods, now imagine what community will do with Star fox 64! i cant wait to see a mod like rener96 in starfox 64 it would be awesome
Oh yeah SSuper Mario PC has a few expanstion pack type mods that make it the defitive 64/3D Mario platformer experience... Also 64 mods have always been insane but the PC port juts made them way more accessible and more insane.
2:08 Not a good comparison at all, let alone one-to-one. Nintendo respectfully halted the Mother series because Itoi felt content with it. Not because they're "not caring" for it. Though that's not to say they couldn't remaster any of them, which wouldn't require Itoi's input unless they want to add new content or be as faithful as possible. But as far as sequels go, Itoi is satisfied with where it ended.
5:30 I think you need eye surgery because this pixelated mess is no way better than the filter, that only PlayStation maggots says it's bad (bad is their dancing textures because the PlayStation can barely handle math)
Yeah turning filtering off only works well with 2D pixel games, old FPS games like Doom or Duke Nukem 3D, and games after the first 3D era of the N64 and PS2
I cannot wait for the modification where ally kos actually add to your total. it always seemed dumb that their contribution to the battle means nothing for your paycheck at the end of the game.
I'm really excited for a couple of mods for this port. Imagine all the levels being revamped or the 3DS geometry being used and being able to pick your favourite Arwing model. I'd definitely pick the Assault one if it's available.
Technically Star Fox Assault doesn't count because that game was made by Namco, in fact, pretty much all the Star Fox games were made by third party developers except for 64, that was the only game in the series that was made by Nintendo themselves
thank you for not dissing assault...that game...that game was a successor. everyone looked and sounded great, the design and aesthetic of everything made me wish there was an art book. the villain/s wasn't andross this time, and it actually backed our heroes into a corner and did things that made us HATE them. Star wolf never looked better, gameplay wise, it wasn't zelda with a magic stick so major props for that. a lot of the weapons were neat to try out and multiplayer was buckets of fun and of course, that orchestrated soundtrack.
I still own my 64 and boy back in the day I would wake up a full Hour earlier than I needed to before going to school to give this game a play through.
What I would like to see them do is take this and reimagin Star Fox Adventures and Assault to see what they would have been like if they had the same structure as 64. I really like Star Fox Assault so I would love to see it
No idea if this is an unpopular opinion, but my biggest complaint with Assault is that it's just too short. I remember finishing it the same day I bought it as a kid. I feel like the campaign could have been 5 missions longer.
Fantastic video about a fantastic project. Although turning off texture filtering looks so unbelievably terrible that I can't believe anyone would willingly do that
I hope somebody can do Killer Instinct Gold, with online lobbies or something easy to play online with people would be amazing and would certainly help revive this awesome fighting game!
I do know that there’s a 3ds mod that mods in the leaked clearer 64 voice lines. I can totally see the uncompressed lines being brought to the PC port too!
I hope they add multilanguage support and the Lylat voices from the european version, which is called "Lylat Wars", perhaps we could also get the 3DS voices in other languages (like german) as well? Would be pretty lit!
People talking about audio, i think any change in the audio is a gamble, i personally think audio and VA is perfect, it will sound really different uncompressed.
Don't have a PC, so I'm holding out for an Android version. I play SM64, OOT and MM on Odin 2, and they run flawlessly at 60fps, high-res and mods/textures. I'm sure this game's Android port will be just as great.
What?! Is Star Fox Event Horizon a total conversion mod for FSOpen, and I’m just now finding out about it? I know that weapons display and that font anywhere.
since this is an early game for the n64 im sure it could be optimized to run 60fps widescreen on hardware if someone was willing to dedicate some of their time to do so. just adding in f3dex3 would give it a good bump alone.
Y'know what I think the texture anti-aliasing could benefit from? Potentially the use of Star Fox 64 3D's visual assets. Don't get me wrong, it seems like an alright feature, but with the N64 visuals at display, it just looks like a DS game
I'd love to play it, but it won't let me re-map any of the controls. I go to the screen to do it, select the control I want to re-assign, it does the whole "hit the button you want to assign here" thing, and... nothing. It doesn't actually accept the key I try to reassign it to.
Same happened to me but what I did was to click the mapping I wanted to change, click on the game area itself, hold the key/button I wanted to map, and click back in the config window. It sometimes takes me doing it twice, but for some reason, clicking back to the window after you do that will set the controls as it should.
Huh, glad to hear controller support is working, first i heard of this the guy was stuck on keyboard. I don't really get how any controller other than an n64 (or like, a wii or something, with a pointer) could possibly move the reticle, since all non-n64 joysticks have massive, massive deadzones so the stick is basically on or off, barely any inbetweens.
It's because N64 stick is one of the most precise ever made, as it uses optical sensors like a mouse while modern sticks use potentiometers, which is why playing most N64 games without a N64 controller normally feels off.
