@@francisco646 with me saying about Unleashed Fellas, if your Sonic Unleashed has An anthropomorphic hero, with a smaller travelling companion A planet cracked open, with only magical MacGuffins being used to put it back together Has a strong focus on melee combat And the only way to get from one part of the planet, to another, is to go by plane The that's not your Sonic Unleashed, that's... Star Fox Adventures!
If Nintendo is too stubborn to give us anything, that can rival SF64, they should at least give it the Metroid Prime remaster treatment. Yeah there is the 3DS version, but that only mildly looked better and was optimized for a handheld. We need a proper TV version. Imagine a remaster, taking everything that the Switch 2 will have to offer.
Thanks for your kind words to SF Assault. As someone who grew with the gamecube, that was my favorite of the franchise and Nintendo insistance to only do 64 reheatings always saddened me.
They are of course trying to be extremely careful with anyone discussing the voice lines since understandably, that can give Nintendo a free pass to murder the entire thing, possibly to include both Zelda games too. Asset replacement in general shouldn't cause a problem but for the moment at least, it takes no more than 2 min before someone mentions the leaks, so that's just bad juju
They said on the Discord they won’t have any involvement or support involving the uncompressed lines since they were an unauthorized leak and therefore illegal/piracy. Wouldn’t surprise me if someone else does it though
You dont know how i wanted this game to be ported to PC, Seeing all of the possibilites that Mario 64 had with it's PC port with mods, now imagine what community will do with Star fox 64! i cant wait to see a mod like rener96 in starfox 64 it would be awesome
Oh yeah SSuper Mario PC has a few expanstion pack type mods that make it the defitive 64/3D Mario platformer experience... Also 64 mods have always been insane but the PC port juts made them way more accessible and more insane.
I cannot wait for the modification where ally kos actually add to your total. it always seemed dumb that their contribution to the battle means nothing for your paycheck at the end of the game.
I'm really excited for a couple of mods for this port. Imagine all the levels being revamped or the 3DS geometry being used and being able to pick your favourite Arwing model. I'd definitely pick the Assault one if it's available.
I'd love to play it, but it won't let me re-map any of the controls. I go to the screen to do it, select the control I want to re-assign, it does the whole "hit the button you want to assign here" thing, and... nothing. It doesn't actually accept the key I try to reassign it to.
Same happened to me but what I did was to click the mapping I wanted to change, click on the game area itself, hold the key/button I wanted to map, and click back in the config window. It sometimes takes me doing it twice, but for some reason, clicking back to the window after you do that will set the controls as it should.
I do know that there’s a 3ds mod that mods in the leaked clearer 64 voice lines. I can totally see the uncompressed lines being brought to the PC port too!
What I would like to see them do is take this and reimagin Star Fox Adventures and Assault to see what they would have been like if they had the same structure as 64. I really like Star Fox Assault so I would love to see it
since this is an early game for the n64 im sure it could be optimized to run 60fps widescreen on hardware if someone was willing to dedicate some of their time to do so. just adding in f3dex3 would give it a good bump alone.
2:08 Not a good comparison at all, let alone one-to-one. Nintendo respectfully halted the Mother series because Itoi felt content with it. Not because they're "not caring" for it. Though that's not to say they couldn't remaster any of them, which wouldn't require Itoi's input unless they want to add new content or be as faithful as possible. But as far as sequels go, Itoi is satisfied with where it ended.
Huh, glad to hear controller support is working, first i heard of this the guy was stuck on keyboard. I don't really get how any controller other than an n64 (or like, a wii or something, with a pointer) could possibly move the reticle, since all non-n64 joysticks have massive, massive deadzones so the stick is basically on or off, barely any inbetweens.
It's because N64 stick is one of the most precise ever made, as it uses optical sensors like a mouse while modern one use potentiometers, which is why playing N64 without a N64 controller normally feels off.
don't hold your breath for an uncompressed voices mod. people are very gunshy about doing anything with leaked assets, and I don't think there's any tool for importing and replacing sound effects at the moment
This is a candidate for maybe the most annoying comment you'll ever receive, and you literally opened the point by saying you didn't know how it worked- but just a little heads up for the sake of clarity the filtering the N64 used was actually Bilinear as opposed to trilinear, thus it's distinctive look. To my understanding Bilinear was used specifically because it's nearly free from a processing standpoint, and was therefore built directly into the consoles graphics processing wItH nO dOwNsIdEs. I strongly prefer the filtered look, but devs being forced into it is pretty weird and having a choice after all this time is pretty sweet. I totally share in wanting to see Starfox mods, totally baffled we haven't seen much in all this time but then again here I am talking about the idea and not making one. I really hope you're right about this triggering a rise in fan works ^^
Cant wait for rhe android port of a pc port 😂 so I can have the best versoion of this game on the go. While i dont olay it often anymore, starfox 64 ranks amongst kne of my most replayed games over the last 2 decades. I hope someone remakes starfox 1 and 2 in this engine, great games but no where near as replayable as 64 imo
Nintendo 64 doesn't use PC texture filtering, it has it's own unique filtering and the games were designed to use it. Not using it is like playing Sonic without a CRT filter so you don't get transparent waterfall effects. Now while I believe people can do what they want, this nonsense has gone far enough that I'm debating if Hitler did nothing wrong. I can excuse AI texture packs and upscalers, but disabling filtering on Nintendo 64 feels like you're violating the Geneva convention. It's not just eye cancer, it's brain rot. Can people not be completely brain dead for once?
5:30 I think you need eye surgery because this pixelated mess is no way better than the filter, that only PlayStation maggots says it's bad (bad is their dancing textures because the PlayStation can barely handle math)
Yeah turning filtering off only works well with 2D pixel games, old FPS games like Doom or Duke Nukem 3D, and games after the first 3D era of the N64 and PS2
I've been playing Star Fox games for nearly thirty years and this is the best news for this franchise since Assault
Let’s hope Assault gets a port next!!!

SF643D is far from "mildly better loking" and would look great on TV with HD textures and better lighting.

Starfox assault was so peak. Back in college after saturday night halo we would play sunday afternoon sfa with my roomates all the damn time.
Nintendo should have kept going in that direction imo they could have easily had their own competitor to Halo
Yeah Assault multiplayer was amazing but it was the time for online games, and they never took it that route.
@@HeroC14 I recommend Star Wars hunters for a good sci-fi multiplayer game.
5:33 yeah dude the sky looks totally awesome now and not a blown up eye sore
They need to include the uncompressed voice acting as well as a remastered soundtrack!
Orchestral track from Assault with the uncompressed voice lines? yes please.
Music replacement isn't possible yet, I hope it comes soon

Waiting for someone to do a 3ds asset swap mod

i wonder if this port will get an advanced render, like render 96 for sm64
Funnily enough, SF64's renders used the blocky low poly models for the characters
@ yeah i’m aware, imagine if we got to see them all hd and nice and shiny lol
Glad to see Star Fox is still alive in one form or another. Love it even more if the fiction was actually expanded as well.
The first thing I did with the port was bind my HOTAS setup to it like a Huge fucking nerd

Should try the perfect dark port if you haven't already ! Perfect dark at 144 fps and mouse aiming is quite something
First mod that should be on the list: "Assault 64"
(I also hope we can get SF2 some day, and mod the shit out of it)
Turning off texture filtering in N64 games is basically equivalent to committing a war crime. Stop that!

uncompressed audio is off the table because the files were stolen.

Why don't Nintendo just hire these people instead of trying to hit them with lawsuits that way they can keep old games alive
