Okay guys i hear you loud and clear. There is some things i could have done different. Aka used a muti tool to cut out the old boards. Probably would have avoided cutting the drip edge and would have been all around easier. The drip edge did get sealed well, and is not leaking. And i still believe this homeowner got a soild fascia repair. 👍but if you guys want to comment another thousand times about the drip edge go for it!! 😅
Nice video! Another similar method of removal I’ve used is to wedge a small piece of wood underneath the drip edge just enough where you can fit a sawzall blade underneath to complete the cut, placing them an inch or so on both ends of where you want to make your cut, and this will also allow you to fit a pry-bar underneath the drip edge to pry the fascia away from the nails coming down from the roof sheathing, then after simply remove the wedges and the drip edge looks pretty good, doesn’t leave a crease, maybe a slight blow of the hammer to make it nice and straight👍🏼
Have you tried CA Glue (Cyanoacrylate adhesives)to glue the outside corner together? It is made for wood, but also works on plastic. Apply the glue, set the wood, and apply the activator. I get three bottles at a time from Amazon.
I do the work in a very similar fashion! Good work! One suggest, rather than measuring the opening, use the dryrotted piece as a template to cut the new material. If your original cut was slightly crooked, you can cut the new material at the same angle by using the removed piece as a template.
Yeah nice video I'm getting ready to replace my face shows well and I was wondering if I have to cut my drip edge the way you did how do you repair that
Honestly i did this job close to two years ago. Im sure i had good reason to cut it but at this time i dont remember exactly what happened. If you can get the gutter down and the wood off with out cutting it do that. But if you have to no big deal, just screw it down and seal it good when you done.
Hi Paul Ricalde- So, what do you do about the drip edge that's cut through at the edge? It's cut through in about four different places and pried up all around the edge. Thanks man!!
Oh, okay. So, screw down the drip edge? In all four places? So four screws in the drip edge. The drip edge. Screws. In the drip edge. There are two correct answers: 1. Replace the section of destroyed drip edge. 2. Time travel. @@onegutterguy560
Nice job but you need a little battery powered router with a few sized pattern bits to do stuff like cutting that long channel, it would save you a ton of time! Still you did a good job with the tools at hand!
Can i ask what type of lumber you'd recommend for the sub fascia board? I'm using aluminum fascia and looks like nearly all pressure treated lumber will react with the aluminum. Thanks!
Big ups for actually fixing this first. So many people would just throw gutters back over this 🤮🤮🤮 Often times homes will have sub fascia so going by the nails on the board won't work for every situation. If it is fascia nailed into trusses I ALWAYS try to hit 3 trusses. It's also good to cut the board short and then cut it a second time to make sure you go straight down the center of the truss. If the home has sub fascia I would recommend at least 4' of board. Great tool to use is a multi-tool AKA oscillating tool 🙂 The way you are showing people how to cut the board is extremely spooky considering the majority are probably home owners 🤣 Nice video 🤙🏼🤙🏼
During all my videos its just been my s20 phone. Just bought a tripod and mic. So in spring when i start making videos again I'll see if that improves quality.
I am installing gutters on new hardie fascia. The house is warped and the fascia has some bends in it. when I try and secure the gutter to the fascia it causes the bottom of the gutter to twist upward. are there any tricks to installing on fascia that has bends/waves on it?
If you dont mind sharing what did you charge the homeowner for this? I am debating on doing it myself or having someone that knows what they are doing do it. I have like 4 spots that are in need of repair.
@@MAGAMAN well, Im sure the homeowner probably didn't want to pay extra for it to be done right. When I replace fascia, I dont cut the drip. I cut the fascia out with a sawzall, so I cut under the drip. That happens alot believe it or not, you can tell them the best way and they still want to go the cheapest way when it come to their fascia and gutters. But anyone can sit there and pick apart someones job. Atleast he sealed the cut joints on the fascia.
If he's replacing the drip edge in the first place, well... Yeah, rip it up. If he never intended to replace the drip edge, well... Lmao. I don't think this could be considered anything else than a 2-year fix and will be rotted out eventually. It's almost guaranteed after all the drip edge damage. Caulk won't hold forever. When the caulk fails. The rot will start.
Thanks for the feedback man. The rafters were soild and I used like 3" screws and once I hang the Gutters tomorrow the system will be even more solid, and the reason it was replaced was because the box miters leaked and rotted the fascia. Once the custom cut miters are installed they definitely won't have to worry about it.

Good question. Thats probably one of those deals where you let the homeowner know it wont be perfect & hope for the best. Usually they'll understand.
If you dont mind sharing what did you charge the homeowner for this? I am debating on doing it myself or having someone that knows what they are doing do it. I have like 4 spots that are in need of repair.
Lol taking video with one hand and the other hand with the skilsaw that is impressive
Impressive or reckless 🤔 either way i got it done 🤣
how did you finish the drip edge with short cuts by the corner?
So what about the drip edge you destroyed
Try your best and caulk the rest! 🤣
Glad they make caulk in multi colors@@onegutterguy560

Safety first WOW
No subfascia?
"Safety first", as he is up 25' on a ladder with one hand on the phone, the other on the circular saw. I'm gonna say that's actually safety last.
What a wack job! Minute 8:03 substantiates my claim.
What a number this character did on this deal.
Good lord
please God! ...... i live by him too :D
What a disaster job that is. The drip edge is now worthless and before long the owner will have the same problem with rotten facia boards.
Haha okay cookie monster.

Was praying that first cut he wouldn’t go up into the metal drip edge . Oh well. I’m sure it’ll be fine for a while
Wow what a hack job

Oscillating tool 🤪
Use a multi tool and don’t cut the drip edge. That didn’t look good at all.
