This song is a time machine!
This is a great song. I was in a rock cover band and we used to close with this song. I got to play the keyboard part. It was one of my favorite songs we did.

Last song we played last day at the store we worked at. After we left a hour or so later it was permanently closed. I felt it appropriate after my 16 years of service.
Oh yeah. So appropriate, regardless of the scenario. Its fitting for the end. But hopefully opens a new beginning!
In the 70s I took my then girlfriend to see an artist by the name of Michael Murphy who had a hit by the title of "Wildfire" which he refused to play in a small venue in Atlanta (The Great Southeast Music Hall) and it really ruined the evening for me since it put her in a really bad mood. My only gratification was the beer I bought on a fake ID. Thank you Michael Murphy for nothing and thank you Dan for playing "Closing Time"

Many years ago ... like bartenders across the country I remember countless times hearing "closing time, last call for alcohol". Aahh, to be 23 again, and tending bar at the Oaks college hangout in Bloomington, Indiana.

Wow, this guy has a fantastic voice and flawless rhythm. I always liked this song, but the record version was always too loud for me and I wanted an "acoustic" version. This version did not disappoint. It's literally perfect. Dan Wilson has some serious talent.

I love how he wrote this song in twenty-five minute. I have some songs I've wrote that took me 10 minutes to think up and I love playing them. this is a song I learned and it doesn't matter if I'm closing a gig or finishing up a session playin on the street I always love finishing up with this song! its definitely one that doesn't get stale.
