    Fantastic tutorial, and it takes a humble man to admit his mistakes ... but it makes you a great teacher . Thanks Byron 👍

    Really amazing approach. Going from a solid Green - BACK - to a violet, and then pulling back up? Seriously an interesting perspective to take.
    Fantastic idea! thank you for showing this technique, it'll help me make better power-weapons!
    I'd love to see a video related to "fix a bad prime" or "Bad prime on purpose" for effect? I get that if the prime is "that bad," then sometimes stripping is the needed step, but I'd love to see your take on "fixing/blending/making bad work" for a video

    Great tutorial as ever Byron. Many thanks. When I did these blades (for my grandson's army) I took your tip about clear varnish and then shade (I think it was in the armour of a space marine?). I used the varnish on the blade once blended, then carefully dropped some shade (I used Agrax Earthshade) into the recesses in the blade, keeping it flat until the shade dried. Seemed to set off the contrast well.

    Great video! I have found a nice technique using a silver base then layering up with contrast paints starting with aethermic blue going down to leaviadon blue mixed with some black. Really easy to do and looks a LOT better than using glazes with normal layer paints.

    Great video as always. If youre looking for new topics to cover, i'd love to see hair get covered, maybe different techniques for unique hair colors.
    And for a less generalized subject, animal/beast skins. Paint up something like daughters of khaine snakes, just to see how to make something really compelling there, or when Kragnos comes out cover that

    Great looking swords. Purple power weapons next? :P... I'd love to see some wet blending or similar results for membranous wings. I'm working on some Tyranid Gargoyles at the moment and I'm struggling to get good transitions between light and dark on the wing membranes.

  • @SFtho
    @SFtho 3 года назад

    Hey, thanks for this, being trying a method using glazing which is much less forgiving and takes longer. Had a go on with your one of my destroyer models and immediately got better result. Sadly the brush I'm using isn't great and is scratching off the previous layers. Bought some series D brushes now though so let's see how they do!

    Don't have any power weapons to try this out on atm, but will do "soon".
    Great video as always.
    Now, we just need power axes :D Purple maybe? (Or any other colour not used to often)
    Oh, and have to try out the B&W trick, when I paint something like this (-:

  • @DrFruitsaladPhd
    @DrFruitsaladPhd 3 года назад

    depending on how your camera filters to black and white, it might not work for this purpose because different hues saturate to different values but some black and white filters kind of even out the value

    would love to see you usin this stipple technique to create a nmm effect usin true metallic paints cause i love the contrast they provide to models that have lots of regular matte paints eg big ogres
    for the circle thing on the necron id paint it to match whatever colour is used on the body of the figure almost to show where additional powerblade energy is coning from

    Good Afternoon, The finished blades looked, in parts, a bit grainy in the end. Is there something that can be done to mitigate this?

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  11 месяцев назад

      Go slower and more carefully, and dilute a bit more, you can also do a little glaze after, which will have the added bonus of adding vibrancy to colours.

    In regards to new topics to cover different skin tones would be nice. How would you obtain a greenish alien skin (for genestealer neophytes for example), or more reddish skin for khorne cultists, maybe even brighter or darker skin tones for abhumans such as ogryns or ratlings, etc.

    Quick question as your customer service team won't answer it 🤦🏻‍♂️
    What is the current wait time for brushes with engraving? I understand you have delays, and more than happy to wait for them to arrive
    But after spending £100 on the D series set and a small dry brush pallet, I just want to know if I will be waiting weeks or months, as I have a commission coming in soon and if the wait will be longer I can grab some cheap alternatives in the mean time.
    Thanks

    • @ArtisOpus

      Hey dude, thanks for the question. We have a couple of very large deliveries that we're praying for this week, hopefully, they will end the supply issues. Currently, the backlog is around 3-4 weeks, at this point is supply rather than production capacity. This will go down the moment the shipment arrives, thanks very much for your patience and understanding. As a former commission painter, I appreciate the situation you're in.😊🤞

    • @kingjpeg
      @kingjpeg 3 года назад

      @@ArtisOpus thank you so so much for getting back to me 🙂
      4 weeks is no drama at all, and I completely understand, shipping has been a pain for so many companies at the moment
      I've grabbed the army painter set of dry brushes to tide me over till the glorious D series set arrives 👌
      Also the videos you make are top notch with great information, if you could do one on painting semi transparent wing membranes that would be awesome!

    What is a good dark color to use if you're using red as your bright color on power weapons?

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 года назад +1

      Purple or blue can work, red's a pretty tricky one, if you highlight to orange these colours are opened up, technically red's opposite is green, it doesn't quite work though IMO.

    • @Hopekuma

    i have 40 grave guard to paint for WFB..... is it too much to paint them with this technique? it looks fantastic but just wondering is it best left for characters and should i leave the grave guard looking slightly rusty and dishevelled?

    when i mask my primed weapons with my tape, it just rips the paint of the plastic

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 года назад +1

      You need to remove the initial stick off the tape, also make sure the previous layers are fully dry (hairdryer). You can also varnish to protect, remember😊
