- This episode of CREEPY OLD CRYPT is about Star Tours, a long beloved ride in Disneyland (among other parks). There's a surprising amount of layers of weird stuff attached to this ride- we attempt to dig beneath them all from our seat amidst Tomorrowland. In the coming days, we hope to get this show on iTunes too. Working on it!
I'm not a huge Disney fanatic but I love listening to you guys talk about it.
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride next month please.
Daddy, can you hear me?
Daddy, can you see me?
Daddy, can you find me in the night?
love this!! could listen to Disney talk for hours. great idea for a series. keep it up guys!
the Imagineer that posted the artwork was Tom K Morris, who was a key designer on EPCOT Center and Disneyland Paris. he posts a lot of concept art and cool stuff over on his twitter, so check it out if you're interested! twitter.com/TomKMorris
I'm really loving these videos Rocco there is hardly nothing like this on the internet.
I honestly didn't know EPCOT was an acronym all this time.
My grandparents always (ALWAYS, in their car, their kitchen, their living room, all the time) had dried Apricots when I was a kid, and I always thought of EPCOT to be just a name for a park like Apricot was a name for a fruit.
One time in Disney World the Rebel Spy was perfectly pictured kissing is the back row. Amazing moment I will never forget
love it. gotta get rocco to produce instead of host/produce a couple roller coaster episodes
The current carousel of progress in Disney World is the coolest thing in all of Disney, it's a shame you guys don't have it there anymore because it's exactly the stuff you love about Disney
look up at the sky? that's fucking impossible.
Wow. What a perfect ending.
yay baby
They should totally have the original film as one of the randomized scenes. Like, its a 1/20 shot, but what treat it would be to be surprised with the original film!!!!
One time when I was on the Cars ride the cast member who hits go for the cars to start moving stopped and yelled "SIR THAT IS NOT A BATHROOM! Please ask a cast member and they'll help you find the nearest bathroom for your child" I didn't look back but I cant believe people do that kind of stuff.
For a second I was thrown off when you said you didn't see Star Wars until 8th grade, but that being the SE release year made perfect sense. I was 10, but that was the exact same time I bought them. I hadn't been able to see them in the theater so I ended up accidentally walking into Walmart when the set came out on VHS and being drawn to it. I had literally just enough money to buy these movies I had just seen glimpses of, and it changed everything. Even if you remove Star Wars itself from what those tapes did to my life, just listening George Lucas talk about his process created my fascination for the Director's Commentary. Years later I would play KOTOR on the edge of my seat and literally fall off when I shifted too fast during a plot twist.
I remember going to Star Tours as a kid and being so disappointed. If you remember at the entrance of the ride they had C3PO so the entire time waiting in line I just built the ride up to be with C3PO, but it ended up being hosted by some dumb robot. Haven't been to Disneyland since then so I am excited to go and see how much better the ride would have been for my 8-year old self
man I love the COC Podcast. When is the merch coming?
the best/cutest thing I've heard a kid say on star tours is "that gold man can't fly!"
I do recall that Energizer Bunny alien thing in the exit you guys mentioned. The whole ride I recall had some tie-in with Energizer for some reason. Even as a kid I remember being slightly bothered by the lack of context for that.
Just make sure you don't order anything in a wine glass at the Jack Sparrow restaurant.
Seriously? 3 of the BEST movies EVER made?
I just discovered this series. Super happy now.
loving these so far. can't wait to hear all the dirt on Moments with Mr. Lincoln!
Go inside the old Disney cartoons theatre and do a podcast on old cartoons. I'm sure everyone will love that.
Papa can you hear me
Edit: apparently somebody already made a similar joke
I get major Phil Thomas Katt vibes with your camera angle.
btw, I had no idea that you guys had Wishes in Cali!
I heard out of D23 that Rex is going to be a part of Star Wars Land.
When I heard the old droid room music at the intro I knew this was going to be a quality talk
whats happening forum its your boy russians here to piss you off
Bravo on finding a quiet place to do this.
I only went to disney world a few years ago, so when I saw it there it was the new version, but in Disneyland Paris they kept the old version for a lot longer, so I've sent he original version, albeit in french. I like both versions, but I do prefer having a non-film character host it.
Actually watched more ot the video, rocco already pointed this out. Oops!
i really love these videos but they would be better if you guys reviewed some dessert at the end
Also, I love Creepy Old Crypt to death. Even though I'm a Disney World man myself, Disney history is my life and having you guys talking about it so passionately just makes my day. Keep it up!
thank you for continuing this series. i loved the first episode
My favorite little easter egg from this ride (which was sadly removed when they lost Energizer) was on the way down to the gift shop, there would be a little hole in the wall blocked off by a gate. Every once in a while, a holographic Energizer Bunny would appear and start hitting his drum then disappear. Would never know he was there unless you looked for a while. It was such a cool hidden thing and I wish it came back!
roccos shirt looks like a mooseman
Its really interesting hearing about the original star tours video since now i kind of feel like the new Mass Effect ride at Great America (Theme Park in San Jose) borrows very heavily from it. Travel agency, Accidentally being drawn into a battle and the false escape!
These are so entertaining
Shooting Star at 19:31 ?
hi rocco love you rocco
I also remember them having the Energizer bunny. If I recall correctly they had just a frame of that bunny the same size as the destinations. But I am positive that that bunny was in the posters in some way.
Another excellent episode of my new favorite podcast!
R.I.P. Yoda
I love this new series! The only problem is that they are too short. Keep it up, Kevin and Rocco!
I finally became the Rebel Spy last month, great stuff!
I'm really enjoying this new series
