i remember watching the disney centennial special on the haunted mansion in utter awe as a kid; i tell people how the haunted mansion is one of my favorite overall creations by mankind; the art style, the subtle storytelling, and the amount of love, creativity and care put into this ride both initially and as it evolved over time makes it like a celebration of the idea of ghosts that's like a nonstop train through the best popup book ever made stocks are up !!!
As a cast member, loved this episode about my favorite attraction. X Atencio actually passed away in September; it’s bittersweet every time you mention his work.
Loved this episode, I always go back and forth whether The Haunted Mansion or Pirates of The Caribbean is my favorite ride. I feel like I lean a little more towards Haunted Mansion now.
54:10 , for a very long time our florida mansion did not have the effect of lightning flashing and changing the appearance of portraits. instead, completely separate portraits (now found in the loading area) followed you with their eyes using a simple effect of the eyes being behind the painting.
1:13:21 , the floating light has actually existed since the ride opened. the blueprints for the very simple mechanism can easily be found and there are numerous videos.
After watching all of these and visiting D-land again, I looked up the legendary Imagineers responsible for the best rides I've experienced. I have to say, X. Atencio is one of the most badass names I have ever heard. The original Mr. X.
I've never had the fortune of visiting Disneyland, but I've been to Walt Disney World at least a dozen times, between the 80s and 90s. And Haunted Mansion is, and will forever be, my favorite ride in Magic Kingdom. Pirates always came a close second. Sadly, the parks mostly no longer resemble what they were during the heyday when I frequented them. But, one day I really want to get back and experience those brilliant rides again.
Holy shit I was just wondering if you'd do this and it was 6 minutes old. Not convinced I didn't see the thumbnail somehow and subconsciously come here.
Yo Disney fam, I'm trying to go to Disneyland early next year. When I was a kid/teen I would get a 2 week fall break in September, so my family would only ever go to Disneyland during that time, because of this I have only ever been on the Nightmare Before Christmas variant of the ride. I really want to see the original ride and experience it for the first time, does anyone know when would be a safe date to go to Disneyland have it changed back to the original version? Can I go in early January or will it be "under construction" for a little while so they can change the ride back?
The screams in the background are seriously the perfect way to hear about the haunted mansion
This was particularly pleasant to watch while nursing a nasty hangover. Thanks as always, guys.
hey can i smoke here?
Next video should be in a smoking area. Bet there won't be anybody there
Cameron H The area actually was a smoking area until about a month ago, folks just aren’t aware of the changes
Been meaning to watch this forever. Thanks guys. :)
These are such a great watch, I hope you never stop making these Rocco!
Rocco's with Ryan fucking Gosling on this one.

I could be wrong, but at the end of the Haunted Mansion in Florida, the small bride figure is an old figure from Horizons. Cool stuff.
Another great episode of my favorite podcast
BEST Disneyland Podcast on RUclips.

26:50 , the cart is no longer outside the florida mansion. when the new gift shop, memento mori, opened, it was replaced

Love this so much, thanks guys.
Also, worth noting that the area you were in used to be a smoking area while there was work being done on Big Thunder Trail
I could listen to this stuff all day.
Rocco likes that big, black void. thanks

42:06 that smoker caught on cam on the left side.
I now remember that knight walking up to buggies. I thought I had imagined it.
I don't know much about disney and changing rides for holidays, but do you have a ride you would like to see do a holiday version?
Rocco, how do you keep your iphone battery charged all day?
What do you want, Rocco...

I just took the raft from Tom Sawyer Island and the cast member driving the raft had to yell at people to not smoke in the area this was filmed.
