I am a PhD student who needs to read a lot of journal articles in pdf. You literally changed my life when you showed the difference between "send to Kindle" and transfer through computer USB. It's amazing! My pdf files are now readable. Awesome!
Is it really worthy to buy this product? I also need to read a lot of pdf's, but I don't know if I should keep reading on my pc or buy one of this e ink screen devices
I like reading from eink devices but it is slow. So when you tap to turn the page it takes a little bit time. It’s not as fast as iPad or laptop. If you need to go between pages quickly that doesn’t work.
This video answered my long standing question on why email sent PDFs behave abnormally. Side loading via laptop did help a lot in terms of bettering the resolution, enabling both landscape and portrait mode. I also learnt that PDFs are themselves a sticky note and we don't have a sticky note for them. Thanks a lot for this video.
Sad... Adding sticky notes to my PDF is of primary importance. Love it, but certainly would love it more if I can write my notes as I'm studying (my course materials are all on PDF).
They have really got to sort this out. Potentially a good device but they’ve shipped it with so many issues and tools missing. At least can we have some consistency with the pdf’s. So frustrating and borderline unusable.
When you use the 'send to kindle' feature, it's possible to write directly on the document as shown. I also realised it is possible to use the same 'kindle ebook' features with your finger (instead of the magic pen): that allows you to highlight sentences and look up words in the dictionary... full pdf functionality like you're reading a book, with the write-on feat. as well.
How is Scribe's text-rendering on pdfs? Does it display correctly or mess-up the kerning? As you may know, kerning can be changed a lot with different level of zoom (and cropping) even on computers, depending the pdf engine...
Thanks for the review, is it possible to create a file (text file or PDF) with your own notes? if so, when you are reading a pdf, is it possible to select text from the pdf document and copy and paste it to your own document? Thanks
Just bought my kindle scribe but how can i mark up pdf file? Everytime I open a pdf file, the three icons ( sticky note, pointing finger and threedots) are there , no pen so I cant write notes on the pdf.😢
Emailed PDF’s can’t be saved as templates in the notebook nor can they be moved into a notebook; why?! Also, why doesn’t email addresses used to email PDF’s out to not save? They disappear after you’ve sent them?
not sure if this is available on the Scribe yet, but I wanted to put my pdf's in their own folder in notes. How can you do that? I really don't want to clutter up my home page or library
I still can't see how you can add the PDF or the converted file to an existing folder. This is something the Remarkable 2 does well. I'm trying to decide if I should stick with my remarkable or switch to the scribe. I love the idea of having my books in one place and cutting down on devices.
I'm sticking with remarkable on this round. Mainly because how much of a disaster the execution of the Scribe is with written documents. I'm still debating if I want to keep the Scribe too I feel like amazon could've done a much better job
how does pdf affect storage compared to kindle books. I know I can fit hundreds of kindle books on a 16 GB kindle, but how would storing and marking up pdf's affect the number of kindle books I can store?
Is there just one model of Kindle scribe? I just sent one back to Amazon, bc it would only do keyboard sticky notes, it did not give the option to do a handwritten sticky note, the support was useless so just sent it back any advice guys?
@@jackwatt8988 just pdf files they charged, books are different obviously you can just gift them. I used kindle in lieu of printer but it did not make sense cost wise so went back to printing things out or reading on computer
I'm trying to write on a pdf that I sent to my Kindle reader years ago. I've opened the pdf on my Scribe but even though I have the menu, I can't write on this document. Is he using the basic pen or the more expensive specialty pen that has the shortcut?
You'll have to resend the document. From the Kindle Scribe's product page: "Kindle Scribe does not currently support writing directly on the page in PDF documents loaded via USB-C or previously sent to your library before 11/11/2022."
PDF files show only generic covers, so if you have a lot of pdf files, you will not be able to find the one you want to open, because they all look the same visually. Amazon should set first page of the pdf file as a document cover page.

Excellent review. I've been waiting for better information on pdfs. That was the game changer for me rather than the writing feature.
Some pdf have a large blank border, could we always zomming to ignore it? I want to use Kindle Scribe for reading the document over 1000 pages.

Thanks for your clarify! This really helps me decide jump in scribe!
Thanks for review!
CAn we save the notes taken on PDF files..
Sir, to clarify if I just side load PDFs i'm not ablet to annotate unlike files sent to kindle?
the main problem with scribe is sending a large PDF through an email...i mean, with calibre i can send a 100 mb PDF but i can´t write on it....
it is a big problem that means it's not a pdf reader
Does anyone know of you can download PDF files directly fron the Scribe via web browser ect??

My kindle doesn’t have the option “hide writing toolbar”. Do you know an other option to use the pen?

Hi all. Is it simple enough to send an edited PDF back to your email/desktop?
Hello, I wanna ask whether I can use Zotero in Kindle Scribe? Is there any challanging obstacle to use?

@QuHarrison Im your opinion the Remarkable 2 is a better option? I am looking to buy either one of these
Thanks for the video! Does the software provide an option for reading the pdf's from right-to-left as well?
Nice. What's its Bluetooth version? Thanks

Can I write notes when the pdf is on landscape?
I think we have to wait a little longer until they produce one with a smooth interface when it comes to reading a pdf file.
If pdf is uploaded via send to kindle, can we still select the words?
Is there a per page fee to use send to kindle? With the DX it was 30 cents per page.
no, send to kindle has been a free service for quite a long time. As long as I can remember, it's been free for over 7 years
@@leeleo9615 thanks. I have not used it since 2011-12 timeframe.

@@TheeBookReader Thank you. And that worked!
How was it possible to rotate the pdf in landscape mode? It seems that it does now work if you use the "send to kindle" webpage...
Oddly the rotate option is only available on PDFs sideloaded via USB, same with contrast control and dictionary lookup.
@@TheeBookReader But when I side load a pdf I cannot write with the stylus on it.....
this is a big problem if you only read pdf,you don't need scribe
When I sideload a PDF and try to read in landscape mode, cannot scroll the page down and up. Any hint of how to do it? Thanks
Q - How do I add a cover image to a pdf (if transferred via USB)?

Yes.
