the apartment above the food store in west point, has access to the roof of the hardware store to plant crops, and speaking of hardware store, has a chance to have a sledgehammer and crowbar.
I found a summer camp that is a couple days walk from Louisville to the south. It isn't annotated on pz map project but it is shown. Plenty of fishing and practically no zombie spawns. Only downside is that it's miles from any good loot...
The gated communities at the start are probably going to be bricked as far as that goes. They're probably looking at that functionality for all prebuilt fences.
I always used to set up in the farmouse with a well north of Muldraugh, its the one near the Pony Roamo at cell 28/29. As long as you have a car looting trips tend to be easy.
my main issue was that the long acsess road tended to become overgrown within two months so then I'd either need to clear it every so often or haul the loot back on foot for some distance
I always used to stay east and a little south of that in a farmhouse that's next to a trailer and just down the road from a well. It's very safe and hardly anything happens. But that's the problem. Nothing happens and it's boring and you drive forever just to get anywhere.
I think the trio of houses above West Point is the best base. It's a house in a region surrounded on one side by water, which prevents zombies, and on the top there are only trees, which means there are very few zombies since their focus is urban. There are 3 large houses and one with a fireplace, surrounded by high railings and a sea behind the house. You have infinite water, infinite tree and a fireplace. On the other side is a hut with fishing equipment, so endless food too. 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a garage and two floors. It's simply perfect, it breaks the fun of the game. Even playing with settings with a high number of zombies you will hardly find one. The only downside is that there is no gas station nearby and easily accessible.
I know this is personal and it's my problem, but I couldn't stay there, I must have agoraphobia, the place is huge and not at all comfortable, when I go to WestPoint I choose Twygg's, I'm more of a cozy base type
As a server owner ive established a community at the riverside gated community are by adding gates and walls, stood 4 years, through famine and war with another settlement, the park area has been fully repurpoused into a farm, onky real threat is renewed war against the muldraugh front and the reapawning undead
I love the little farm house just north of the highway intersection north of rosewood. The driveway is just off the left and it's got a nice area for farming
The Louisville train station rail yard is a very cool base. -It's almost completely fenced with exception to two openings. -nice buildings for living and storage. may need to steal some furniture, but has a lot of potential. - has exactly 20 gas pumps nearby so you should never have a problem running out - lots of zombies are in the area sadly - not a lot of grass either so digging dirt will be necessary for long term survival.
The easiest base i found is the rich neighborhood in Muldragh, easy to baricade the exits, plenty of space, nearby forest and lakes and a lower population density compared to the rest of the town. The most rewarding base I had to date is the Food Market in West Point, right across the street of the Mega Mart. There are two apartements upstairs with roof access trough a window in one of them for farming above the post office(also for putting the generator outside in a place zombies can't reach). I baricaded the whole parking lot behind it once, the population density seems lower on that side of the building than the main road. On another note, I'm currently trying a Rosewood Firestation base for the first time and I get more zombies than I did right in the middle of Westpoint I swear. The building is great, but the hordes are just neverending!
On the topic of other locations, while perhaps not the penultimate ideal location, it is definitely a fantastic safe house. That is the radio station north of Muldraugh and east of McCoys logging. Surrounded by woods and high fences, only one access road, and one point of access to the yard of the fenced area. While there being two trailers and a small shed as the only buildings, not much to look at granted, they can be easily built up and even combined once you’ve a sledge and carpentry leveled up. I enjoy conjoining the two trailers and then creating a second level fully walled and roofed just because. Easy access to trapping and foraging for sustenance, as well as a great spot to retreat to if you’re looting in Muldraugh and get overwhelmed or worse, cut off from your escape route/vehicle. A bit of a hike to get to on foot, but danger is easily lost in the woods. Initial barricading can be done easily by hitting McCoys logging, abundant supplies for building right away. I use a ton of map mods. And the one and only Raven Creek has a crap ton of locations for ideal bases. Granted, half of them are on the furthest corner west, having to get through fences or a checkpoint to get to them. It may be prudent to have multiple locations, as many RUclips movies show, they leave their bases to set up in another town. Don’t be afraid to leave your first base in favor of changing the scenery.
My favorite base right now is the apartments south west of Louisville Mall, just across the car park. It's got medical supplies, gas station, gun store, storage lot and fire department nearby. Surrounded by parking lots so you're likely to easily find a car. You can turn the entire top level into a penthouse once you find a sledgehammer and can even plant crops on any of the balconies. Very secure because of the way the ground floor carpark is built and it's incredibly rare for a zombie to make it up the first flight of stairs.
For West Point, my favourite is actually the two apartment units right above the grocery store. Just block off of destroy the stairs, and you can use escape rope to get in and out. There's a huge roof top for growing crops, and you can even build staircase to reach other neighbouring rooftops for a massive farm in the sky. Excellent for getting around the highly populated WP downtown area traveling on the rooftop like a super hero.
The Ameriglobe office Building in Louisville is a great place for a base in the city for vanilla play as it is easily reached by new spawn (WestPoint) characters because it is just inside the military blockade. Also having 4 levels, roof access, woodlands and and a nearby water feature it covers every possible requirement for survival.
some have already said but, i really like the abandoned factory west of riverside, near all the old homes. you have a gas station directly to your northeast and, of course living right next to the river for fish. it has a large parking garage you could easily expand if you like hoarding vehicles (which PZ player isn't a pack rat) also i love accessible rooftops because EZ rain gathering and gardening. it's probably not the most practical because it's pretty isolated and maybe too large, but i just have so many nostalgic memories basing there, especially when i was a new player. i used to always make it my mission to base there. i remember one time i was just sleeping peacefully in that base when i heard the unmistakable sound of a window shattering downstairs. it was a special sort of dread waking up knowing i'd have to go down and say hi to company, lmao. that's one of the disadvantages of larger bases. this run i'm currently doing i'm looking for a smaller base that would more realistically fit one person (although the thought of a gigachad survivor just taking over an entire air base or something is fun). not sure where yet but cool vid :)
My most recent playthrough I have set up a base in the gas station to the East of Muldraugh, just next to the trailer park. Took some time to clear out the surrounding area but I had all of the logs I could want from the nearby forests to build log walls. It's very centralized for the entirety of the map. It was, however, a lot of work building the walls. Great video 🤘🤘
I always build my first base in the lower left corner gated community of Muldraugh. Ppl say Muldraugh is a harder spawn but I find it pretty easy. Just stay off the main road that goes along the top of town. Only time I go there on foot would be to go to the book store. Rest of town is pretty manageable. Once I have a base established there I branch out and start bases in other towns.
My most favorite in Riverside is actually the Post - you have the river very close as well as you are in middle of the town, gas station is pretty close as well, and to top it up, you have a forest near as well - what's more to want? Oh, right - you have a large balcony and roof to garden if that's what you want ❤
In the far top left corner of the map, left of riverside, there is a general store, fishing store, and restaurant. The general store has two stories and a rather nice living area and storage area on the second floor. The area borders the river and is also surrounded by trees. Very few zombies in the area and a gas station just quick walk away. In the abandoned town just below it are several wood furnaces. Following the road down a long ways there is a pit stop with another gas station, gun store, and restaurant, but loads of zombies. Great place for secluded long term survival.
I absolutely love the abandoned factory to the east of riverside, its huge and with a little work, is only accessible via a 2nd story bridge. Secluded and can store easily a dozen vehicles once you knock 2 walls down in the main building garage
For me, the best base location needs easy access to water, gas, trees. Low local zed pop, or high fences to make it easy to manage the locals. Close enough to shops you don't have to drive to loot. Ideally a prebuilt building with minimum 2 floors and few ground floor windows/doors. As it's virtually impossible to get all of that... In March Ridge (not that you want to be in March Ridge) the partially fenced in terraced blocks are okay. In Rosewood I prefer the gated houses to the NW if I'm not going for the fire station or the northern gas station. Although I always go for the fire station or the northern gas station. The Rusty Rifle is a favourite if I want to start in Muldraugh. Twiggy's or the Guns & Ammo in West Point The factory storage warehouse, west of Riverside is good if you can clear the locals out, but a bit isolated. For Riverside I prefer the bar on the outskirts, just east of the scrapyard or the Riparian Entertainment bar by the river at the north edge of town if I want to do a big refurb job. The Riverside Boat Club is surprisingly good. A few too many windows on the river side of the building but you don't get many zeds on that edge and otherwise it is quite easy to secure. If you're ready to base up in Louisville, it probably doesn't matter much where you pick, but I like the baseball factory. The Brac Brick Factory is pretty cool if you want a secure spot to build from. Actually basing at a gas station can be good. The one at the north of Rosewood takes some work to clear the local zeds but can be easily secured by parking cars around it and other than a lack of water I really like it. If you're willing to build your own base, the drive-in cinema near the gas station south of Rosewood is a good location. Nearby water, gas and trees. it is isolated though. The Fallas Lake gas station ticks a lot of boxes. But that town gets used up quite quickly. Maybe a decent starter, which can work as a midway rest stop later in game. Ruby Gas is pretty great if you are ready for a bit of a challenge. Really solid spot for preparing for a Louisville raid
I would like to share my favorite base location with you guys. There is a lake near rosewood, plenty of space to build a house and large gas station in walking distance. I have lived there for 4 months now, and its pretty cozy
The apartments above the food market in Westpoint, you demolish the floor after the stairs or the staris themselves, clear the apartments, and you got one apartment to live the other for storage and you have access to the roof next door where you can put water collectors and plant food and put a generator. You basically become inaccessible to the hordes and if you find enough materials, weapons and food you can lay low there for weeks and use an escape rope to get in and out, just make sure you have enough sheets and nails in surplus cause Zomboids can eat a few here and there. That's my main setup when playing in that section of the map.
Some more good spots: My personal favorite, which I didn't see here mentioned - *The Rusty Rifle* tavern. It's located in Muldraugh, has a gas station nearby, 2 storage lots and plenty of forests for foraging. I love it, because it is away from the middle of the town of course. Also I just like tavern type places like this or Twiggys! If you want to reside in West Point, I highly suggest you the place called "West Point Mansions". Basically the three houses on the wery north of city. One of the houses has a big ass gate around it, there is a lake for fishing+water. Plenty of forests for materials and foraging, and low population of zeds. The only con for me is that you MUST have a car to get there, because it's far from city and it would take so much time walking from there to city for resources. If you want to reside in Louisville, then I suggest you any of the houses near the river. They all have those cool big gates, a fireplace inside. These are some additional places I usually use! :)
It's not so far of a walk to get into town from the mansions. I've had a character there before without a car. It takes about an in-game hour, maybe an hour and a half, to walk into town. If your only goal is to survive, it's almost for sure the "best" location. You'll die of boredom, perhaps. If you can get enough supplies to survive through first winter, you can abuse cooking to get the proteins you need for second winter. The rest of the time it's easy to survive with farming, fishing, and foraging, without ever having to worry about zombies.
I've only ever based in Louisville once with some friends and we found a fenced in square of buildings near the center of town that made for a great compound. The center of the square of buildings is a courtyard with a bunch of trees and dirt to farm
The fire station, the riverside post office, the riverside warehouse for the factory on the outskirts near the gas station and diner, the community center in Doe Valley, and Lenny's auto repair are my favorites.
Muldraugh Motel right next to the gas station. 2 entrances to the courtyard can be gated and forst windows barricaded. You know have a courtyard for crops; stairs that can be knocked away (cheese) and use the entire second floor to live in and utilize individual rooms for different stuff (kitchen, infirmary, workshop, etc...). Rooftop garden is massive. Knock out the corner walls on the second floor for guard posts. Second floor large balcony is perfect for solar panels and, with some work; the second floor of the lobby is open space and floors can be added for a MASSIVE storage room. It has so far been my favorite place and had a blast living there with my friends for months. 3 of us really only used half the building so a large group could easily live there with plenty of space and not even really have to use the first floor. Also comes with a full kitchen. Downside is you're right in the middle if Muldraugh so alot of early game clearing has to happen or you'll get overrun real quick.
My favorite base location is the gated community two story houses on the east side of riverside. Remotely closed off, easy access to water, all the houses already have a fire place, and there's a forest really close for firewood and scavenging
I always use the upper floor of apartments in rosewood once you knock out the stairs and build stairs to the roof you are golden you get 4 apartments if you take the ones next to the bank or you can take the ones on top of the minimart for like 8 apartments
the boat club in riverside is the best base spot in the entire map. Its the biggest building right next to the river (outside louisville). lots of trees right next to it, and open field for trapping just down the river banks. Sledge the stairs and you can build multiple escape routes
I'd suggest the Abandoned Factory in abandoned town west from the riverside, pretty much no one mentions it since its so far away from the biggest intrest points that not many people know about it - Biggest advantage of it, its that it has barely any zombie nearby (if u play without map mods for example ofc) - It has nearby gas station - Its huge when it comes to space for vehicles or just overall storage - Is pretty close to river itself for some fishing - And is good location for a base when new cities west finally will be added Altough only issue is time to travel anywhere from it really and probably the forgotten and destroyed looks it has
@@vederianl9723 Those are werehouses that are technically part of Riverside, there is whole abandoned city with factory, destoryed building and some construction sites even more west from them
Had my base there on a server where people played raiders, they never found my base. They Probably never knew there was such a place, but to make sure I planted my garden up on the roof behind a wall
I built a Motte on top of the center two storage units of riverside. The entire length of the buildings, 4 stories high. It took a lot of time as it was on a multiplayer server as a base build competition. Luckily to save on time the host was spawning planks and nails, so even with that it took a long time to build. The entrance was a double door gate, with 6 stairs to get into it. Th first floor (on top of the two storage units) I built a porch, and surrounded the foundation with log wall just for the aesthetics, make it look more like a wooden keep. As well as the first floor was a sort of feast hall, a hearth hall. I did not finish it, but I finished the barebones of it. As in I did not build out rooms on the other levels, but it was completely built otherwise, including cool looking parapets at the top. The plan was to utilize the other two storage sections to be the Bailey (Motte and Bailey). As well as build a wall on the outside of the metal fencing and connect them with flooring, to then build the small fence to act as parapets. It was a lot for one person, and a lot of material required. I cannot wait for functional NPCs and factions, a true colony builder at that point. Other than to say you did and could, there’s no point in building a base like that in single player, and I’ve no friends willing to play this game with me on multiplayer. Thanks for reading if you did!
Me and my friends settled at the Warehouse outside of Riverside, the one thats nearby the forest, trailer park and Storage Unit. We have a massive log wallnfortified with aged wrecked, and stripped cars, dumpsters etc, a Garden on the roof and numerous water collectors. My friend utilises the warehouse first floor for his numerous cars, we have a custom made kitchen, its our pride and joy. 3 months later we are still going strong!
I've used the fenced up house next to the "house by the lake" along the river by West Point. If you have a car it's not too far from West Point, very few zombies to clear out, fireplace in the house, lots of foraging space in the immediate area, and fishing and water is easily available. Over time hordes of zombies do tend to follow your car back to the base, but I enjoy the occasional base attack. 10/10 base location for me.
I tend to prefer one and maybe two story houses. I don't want to carry supplies up many flights and want all the important rooms to be easily accessible. Furthermore I like to stay low to the ground to build and customize on my own terms. This is why I enjoy the used car/car repair shop near the Louisville Mall. There are always Zombies around, to keep up the danger and threat, its close to everything you could ever want. Has one entrance to worry about, there are a lot of old cars to use for levling mechanics or to move away for farming/construction. Two small buildings, where you can keep everything you need, with the potentail to expand.
well my new favorite is south of louisville, west of the farming fair, theyre is a motel, easy of access to school north, gaz on the east road, ammo south at the military blockade to burned town and the warehouse on the west. finaly theyre is a pool for fishing and lots of wood for trapping and building
The gated community in Muldraugh, between the church and a grove, is a good place to set up. All houses are two-stories and very rich. There are about 4 tool sheds and always at least one generator. Cars also common. Lots of barbecues with propane. It's not too hard to clear or drive the zombies outside, larger groups near the exits towards the town center. But the woods are usually clear. I set up in a house that has pink flowers outside and a tool shed. It only needs blocking of two entrances and has a lot of space, also it's closer to the woods so noise will rarely attract anything. Also it's located where I can make more layers of defenses until outside the community. Ain't that hard to get there from usual spawn points, and even then you can use the tall fences to escape from the horde you attracted while getting there. Ah and there's a lake in the grove, a bit far.
Favorite spot so far is the small Fire Station on the South end of Louisville. It has a back yard that is completely fenced in with high chain-link fences, and upstairs area with beds, bathroom and kitchen, as well as immediate rooftop access for rain collectors. There's also a gas station just down the street, and a whole forest worth of trees nearby.
Some other neat base locations: Westpoint- the office building between the church and the post office/hardware store. It has external stairs/fire escape and if you can block or destroy the internal stairs you will have an excellent 3 story base with a terrace on the top floor. You can wall off the external stairs for extra security too. Riverside- the Riparian bar/restaurant next to the river and behind the motel. It’s next to the river for easy fishing and the upstairs has an outdoor dining balcony great for safe farming. You will have to block or destroy the stairs to stop Zeds from getting to you. There is a back stairway through the kitchen that you can block off or use. Rosewood(just outside of town)- leaving Rosewood heading northeast, the blacktop road will end and you will have to veer right onto a lighter looking gravel road. A short distance on your left is a dirt road/path that leads to 8 houses and a small Army outpost. I think the houses are officer and NCO quarters for the troops there and have food, and weapons sometimes. The Army barracks usually has good loot there too, and you’ll find boots, knives, ammo, pistol magazines, M-16 magazines, and other military gear, even a military backpack! In one of my games, my character even found a “guard Zed” in an Army uniform with an M-16, 1911 pistol, and military backpack. I only ever found him there, and only once. The Zed count is pretty low right there, and there is a farm warehouse a short distance down the road. Louisville- the Mounted Police Training building in the bottom left corner of Louisville park. Honestly it’s the best base in Louisville! I’ve survived longer there than any other place on the map! The building has an open courtyard in the center, which is perfect for farming and mechanic work. The building has only 4 windows and an archway on one side which fits a double gate perfectly! The building has a small armory, an office with a radio, a small bathroom and 2 storage rooms with nice crates and shelves. The area surrounding the building has a small white picket fence, 3 large water barrels, stacks of logs, and a small pond for fishing. The park perimeter has a lot of high fences, so huge hordes won’t wonder in once you’ve cleared it. There is also an antique oven in the park’s visitor’s center in the upper right corner of the park, but clear the park before you try to bring it back. Within walking distance of the Mounted building you will find: a pawnshop(with upstairs apartment), a medical center, an animal vet office, a police station, a big garden center(with growing plants), a tire center, a small mall, a big Gigamart, a small bookstore, various restaurants, 2 gas stations, and lots of houses with garages! I’ve never survived to the winter anywhere else!
With mods like "workable ladders" and "climb roof" my favourite places are Louisville : Secure Storage (as long as you have enough wood for a fence and a sheet rope) and Louisville : Large Warehouse (which is south-west of the first one). Generally living on the roof. Granted I picked them when I was in dire need of a base but in the plus side it's in the city and zombies will struggle to climb up to you; you can also have space to build an entire house if you want. The only negative of the Large Warehouse is that zombies can walk up the stairs and drop down; however to get up there takes a lot of pathing itself and by the time they're up there, they always forget where you are and walk back down. These aren't perfect since helicopters and rain are now your biggest enemy. But if you need a sudden base without any other options; it's a good choice imo.
In Louisville there's the big houses alongside the east part of town, by the river. High metal walls, easy to barricade, close to loot areas but far from the main areas
I've enjoyed basing a the Auto Shop just east of West Point (cell 40x23), big building, large garage, just outside of town so it's relatively easy to defend, easy access to both forest and river areas. Takes a little bit of work, but is a nice location. In Louisville there are a couple of good locations. The small gated community (cell 47x8) is really really easy to defend and even has a small pond. More of a challenging area, or suited better for multiplayer is the townhouses in cell 44x5. Lots of houses to clear out, but once done you've got a bunch of protection with only one entrance that needs to be protected. Great little garden area in the center as well, and somewhat central to Louisville for looting.
I really like the farm houses in Riverside, near the warehouses. Isolated enough that you don't get too much trouble besides the odd stray, plenty of trees around for building and close to the storage lot and gas station while also being reasonably close to riverside for loot runs.
I like the gas station/liqour store in Valley Station. Two two-story buildings with plenty of gas right out the front. In the same vein is the tiny gas station on the far western edge of the map, past the Riverside farms... there's only one nearby loot point (unless you've modded your map) but you'll have the gas to drive anywhere and there's almost no threats out there.
there is a great location in muldraugh that is very easy to clear and only difficult to fortify, but it compensates for being the most peaceful spot ive found at muldraugh. there is a Tavern southwest most in the corner of muldraugh, ive always made my solo bases there and its excelent for people that have the clausthrobia trait because its really open inside and you dont feel panicked, specific i know but i like the free points. its two stories tall and close to the gas station, you can make lots of noise and it wont atract any zombies, ive only had 1 wandering walker show up at my base and ive been there for half a year in game
i enjoy one of the pawn shops in Louisville, has two apartments above it with a massive roof for crops, can be secured with 3 walls on one side and two more on the other, surrounded by chainlink high fence on one side and wood highfence on the other, near alot of good spawns, in co-op we were able to secure the location in about ~40seconds with prepared material
I always make my base far away from the city , like find a house in the middle of nowhere with a farm next to it and yep , im choosing that as my base!
I'm waiting for the next build to hopefully rope some friends into playing, found a really nice spot that I think will be great for us to take over in Louisville. Cell 44x5, very large, surrounded by houses, all of the houses have a large fenced in backyard that makes up an entire square with only one way in and out of it, the interior of this square is also boxed in with several houses that has a large spacious center that'd be great for doing huge amounts of gardening.
The apartment above the hairdressers in West Point. Yeah I know, it's a hard one to secure but its so well located and if you can lock down the whole building(the small office, the clothing shop, hair dressers, insurance and dentist) its safe. I also build stairs in the apartment across the way(above the insurance) at a point where i can sledge my way through the wall onto the roof of the dentist and have a roof garden.
My favorite ever base that I’ve made is at the camping grounds with a lake to the east edge of the map, east of maldraugh and both crossroads intersections. I survived there for months
In west point on the right side of the town there's a lake near the river with 3 house+a hunters lodge nearby with an antique stove Nobody's going to knock on your door and you can self sustain on that house
my personal list 1. louisville trio of fenced mansions 2. muldraugh northern farm 3. west point mansion trio 4. secure storage in north Louisville 5. louisville mansion with 4 car garage on river
Mechanic shop over the factory at the left of riverside That place kept me alive for so long until i leveled up my Mechanics and electrical without any Books or vhs (which he already said its over the storage of riverside)
one place im fond of is an automechanic shop just east of west point, for its somewhat secludedness, and the amount of good loot that can be there on the other hand though, you are, one of, if not my favorite project zomboid creators, so keep up the good work!
The best bases I’d say are the west and east Louisville mansions, they’re 99% fortified and just need to fortify 1% a bit just to secure them. Both have a good source of water and you have Louisville loot outside your doorstep. Specifically the mansions I’m talking about the one next to the brewery and gas station (west) and the one next to the large gated community, fire station and shops (east)
i survived my first week today and build my base in the southwest of westpoint in the farm house it has a really wide open field around it really good to defend and after clearing the area its really save also westpoint is so close you can loot really good
I usually just build in the Muldraugh house with the fences or i go to one of the very isolated cabins/camp grounds and build a crate/fence wall around it i've only been overwhelmed twice at those places but its a easily defensible place to hunker down in especially with the spike trap mod
I personally like building my bases at churches. While yes they don’t tend two have much defenses they look very nice, have plenty of space indoors, and usually are multistory
I personally like to base at the Park ranger station located in doe valley. for cover or building you are surrounded in forest you have a lake nearby for fishing and water you have also lots of space for foraging. The place also spawns decent clothing tools and useful foraging hunting and fishing magazines and even a gun locker
me and my bud used the city hall building in rosewood , alot of stuff to rip apart and we lived out of the second floor break room with the sink n fridge, find sleged and there alot of real estate on the 2nd floor to do things with, ripped out the back stair case and fortitude the center kinda just happened and after thousands of hours we decided to crash there and stay, given the population we play on with the mods is unholy at best to put it
Call me crazy but these days I find it more interesting basing up right in the heart of any given town. Theres a few options I considered like the Muldraugh bank. Basing somewhere along the Muldraugh highway in one of those shops or a gas-station would be a neat challenge too. People often complain about a lack of things to do after the end-game hits and well, part of their problem is basing in the outskirts and rural areas of the game where its too safe. With this that isn't much of a concern as it encourages you to keep active looking for incoming zeds, using your supplies and then finding more to loot.
I just set up my first base in the quiet little house in west point! I thought I was in riverside lol, I went to a gas station and broke the window, it set off an alarm but atleast I gassed up my car :3
Yeah, I don't get the love for the fire station. Seems like everyone thinks that's the best place, but Rosewood is so boring. Louisville or bust for me.
So far my longest run has only been 11 days, but I had found and settled into a great mansion on the west side of Louisville with a high fence, 3 car garage, and easy access to water. - I only died because i decided to try using guns for the first time and learned that the shotgun draws a metric f***ton of zombies!
If you use Raven Creak, I recommend turn the Tunnel (the one on the north leading out of city) into your base. It's near military camp, a warehouse, a firestation and most important, an indoor generator. It's blocked off entirely until you get a sledgehammer or building a stair out of it.
it's actually better to spawn in those high pop towns IMO. The zombie pop is always at its lowest at the start so take advantage of it to loot the areas that suck later on.
That's true. But on the other hand, by the time you choose to deal with harder areas your character is powerful enough for the job. So IMO, it's a win-win situation in both scenarios.
west of the west point is super actually (tree manors in there) {acces to forest large area 3 big manors and water also near but not much to west point and riverside} maybe the office in maldraugh trainstation {supper big area so much loot but lack of water} cinema saloon near louisville {greatly large area. acces to forest and water near to louisville. but so hard to clear} also the shelter mod is super
i cant believe you did not mention the farm thats right in the center of the map, it has a shed, a small fenced area you can use to grow crops and a water well so youll never run out of water, it also is very isolated so no zomboids around
Thank you. Got i hate the preamble. Its like yeah yeah, subscribe and blah blah, not gonna happen unless you knock my socks off, everybodys out here tryna get a sub. What else is new.
What's the best base location you've found?
the entire knox county, every building could be a possible base.
the apartment above the food store in west point, has access to the roof of the hardware store to plant crops, and speaking of hardware store, has a chance to have a sledgehammer and crowbar.
I found a summer camp that is a couple days walk from Louisville to the south. It isn't annotated on pz map project but it is shown. Plenty of fishing and practically no zombie spawns. Only downside is that it's miles from any good loot...
I don't have a base, wherever I go,my truck and my trusty shotgun were my greatest base(for me only)
Ranger station/broadcast tower west of the country club
When build 42 comes out those storage buildings are going to be a death trap as metal mesh fences can be knocked down by hordes.
Spear trap mod should help with that
@@antoinelachapelle3405 invisibility mod should help with that
The gated communities at the start are probably going to be bricked as far as that goes. They're probably looking at that functionality for all prebuilt fences.
@@antoinelachapelle3405 not playing will help with that... cos i cant play unless i CHEAT, loser
Don't forget we'll have multistory buildings and basements.
This is my spot too! Lol
Mine is near the stripe club
I always used to stay east and a little south of that in a farmhouse that's next to a trailer and just down the road from a well. It's very safe and hardly anything happens. But that's the problem. Nothing happens and it's boring and you drive forever just to get anywhere.
Get the horde night mod and turn this base into a night of the living dead scenario
I used that area during a CDDay playthrough. It worked beautifully for all the reasons you said
Try the horde night mod, your base won't be boring ever again lol
I know this is personal and it's my problem, but I couldn't stay there, I must have agoraphobia, the place is huge and not at all comfortable, when I go to WestPoint I choose Twygg's, I'm more of a cozy base type
As a server owner ive established a community at the riverside gated community are by adding gates and walls, stood 4 years, through famine and war with another settlement, the park area has been fully repurpoused into a farm, onky real threat is renewed war against the muldraugh front and the reapawning undead
4 years in multiplayer sounds miserable

I love the little farm house just north of the highway intersection north of rosewood. The driveway is just off the left and it's got a nice area for farming
The Louisville train station rail yard is a very cool base.
-It's almost completely fenced with exception to two openings.
-nice buildings for living and storage. may need to steal some furniture, but has a lot of potential.
- has exactly 20 gas pumps nearby so you should never have a problem running out
- lots of zombies are in the area sadly
- not a lot of grass either so digging dirt will be necessary for long term survival.
Currently based up in Louisville, on the west side mansions/houses. easy water / fishing access. And a built in garage on the side.
I accidentally left gas stove on there
In the far top left corner of the map, left of riverside, there is a general store, fishing store, and restaurant.
Louisville checkpoint is underrated base location
Absolutely agree, it like the perfect halfway point
I absolutely love the abandoned factory to the east of riverside, its huge and with a little work, is only accessible via a 2nd story bridge. Secluded and can store easily a dozen vehicles once you knock 2 walls down in the main building garage
0:00 General Kenobi, you are a bold one.
Twiggy's or the Guns & Ammo in West Point
The factory storage warehouse, west of Riverside is good if you can clear the locals out, but a bit isolated.
Really solid spot for preparing for a Louisville raid
phallas lake gas station is great. im currently making multiple temporary bases as I clear Louisville.
Some more good spots:
My personal favorite, which I didn't see here mentioned - *The Rusty Rifle* tavern.
I'd suggest the Abandoned Factory in abandoned town west from the riverside, pretty much no one mentions it since its so far away from the biggest intrest points that not many people know about it
- Biggest advantage of it, its that it has barely any zombie nearby (if u play without map mods for example ofc)
- It has nearby gas station
- Its huge when it comes to space for vehicles or just overall storage
- Is pretty close to river itself for some fishing
- And is good location for a base when new cities west finally will be added
Altough only issue is time to travel anywhere from it really and probably the forgotten and destroyed looks it has
Yes its a great spot I am glad you mentioned it
Isn't that the factory he mentions at 2:39?
@@vederianl9723 no the location is not showcased in this video
Currently building my mega-base in the Louisville distillery. Takes a lot of time to deck out, but surprisingly easy to fortify
Some other neat base locations:
Westpoint- the office building between the church and the post office/hardware store.
My goto base has been the cabin in the woods in s mul for 10+ years now, single and multi. I just love that place. ❤
i often use the gas station with the second story apartment thing! get two generators (one for building one for gas pumps) and ur set!
Rosewood - The strip of shops have apartments on the 2nd level.
Riverside - The junkyard and that cabin/rest-stop towards the edge of the map
Camp Busy Beaver is a good isolated spot if you want to do a mostly farming/foraging run.
nice, i like fortifying the suburban area in riverside
Ahh, a person of culture I see
for some reason I enjoy building a base on the top of the west point post office. I just find it funny and it is right next to the food market.
The best base in Louisville is probably the couples house within the walls. Its in-between the military checkpoint and the burned down neighborhood
i enjoy one of the pawn shops in Louisville, has two apartments above it with a massive roof for crops, can be secured with 3 walls on one side and two more on the other, surrounded by chainlink high fence on one side and wood highfence on the other, near alot of good spawns, in co-op we were able to secure the location in about ~40seconds with prepared material
I always make my base far away from the city , like find a house in the middle of nowhere with a farm next to it and yep , im choosing that as my base!
Gotta love that country life living!

Thanks man! The Prison is like a right of passage in my opinion haha! Love your videos too :D

In west point on the right side of the town there's a lake near the river with 3 house+a hunters lodge nearby with an antique stove
Nobody's going to knock on your door and you can self sustain on that house
my personal list
1. louisville trio of fenced mansions
2. muldraugh northern farm
3. west point mansion trio
4. secure storage in north Louisville
5. louisville mansion with 4 car garage on river
Mechanic shop over the factory at the left of riverside
That place kept me alive for so long until i leveled up my Mechanics and electrical without any Books or vhs (which he already said its over the storage of riverside)
I need to get a computer. I always wanted to try this game for years!😅
one place im fond of is an automechanic shop just east of west point, for its somewhat secludedness, and the amount of good loot that can be there
on the other hand though, you are, one of, if not my favorite project zomboid creators, so keep up the good work!
Aww thank you! I really enjoy making content for you guys
One of my favorite places to make a base out of is the 3 luxury houses in the outskirts of west point, right next to the river.
I rly cant wait to get back into the game. Had a bug issue where i can't plank up windows but ima to fix it finally to i can enjoy the game
i survived my first week today and build my base in the southwest of westpoint in the farm house it has a really wide open field around it really good to defend and after clearing the area its really save also westpoint is so close you can loot really good
I used the hotel in riverside once, it works surprisingly well.
My personal favorite is probably the gas station in Ekron, a small town with almost everything and it's near a lake.
1:20 What is the name of the music in background?
I always heard but couldn't find the name.
C.G.E. Corp building. its a bit of work fixing it up but such a good base.
I personally like to base at the Park ranger station located in doe valley. for cover or building you are surrounded in forest you have a lake nearby for fishing and water you have also lots of space for foraging. The place also spawns decent clothing tools and useful foraging hunting and fishing magazines and even a gun locker
me and my bud used the city hall building in rosewood , alot of stuff to rip apart and we lived out of the second floor break room with the sink n fridge, find sleged and there alot of real estate on the 2nd floor to do things with, ripped out the back stair case and fortitude the center kinda just happened and after thousands of hours we decided to crash there and stay, given the population we play on with the mods is unholy at best to put it
I love the use of The Click music.
Personally, I feel like the summer camp in the east of the map is extremely slept on
I just set up my first base in the quiet little house in west point! I thought I was in riverside lol, I went to a gas station and broke the window, it set off an alarm but atleast I gassed up my car :3
4:14 if you up to building bases from scratch. There is a small lake nearby perfect for small fishing cottage
apartments in rosewood- between bakery and offices in an alley
Thank God someone who isn't talking about the stupid fire station
Yeah, I don't get the love for the fire station. Seems like everyone thinks that's the best place, but Rosewood is so boring. Louisville or bust for me.
So far my longest run has only been 11 days, but I had found and settled into a great mansion on the west side of Louisville with a high fence, 3 car garage, and easy access to water. - I only died because i decided to try using guns for the first time and learned that the shotgun draws a metric f***ton of zombies!
This OG Age of Empires scream flashbacks the sh** out of me 😂👌🏼…
Radio tower with fences around it north of maldrauh is fun if you know what your doing
instead of extremely popular warehouse in Muldraugh you could have chosen a building next to it
Well, theres always another base location video, especially with the upcoming changes to fences I'll be doing some more!
If you use Raven Creak, I recommend turn the Tunnel (the one on the north leading out of city) into your base. It's near military camp, a warehouse, a firestation and most important, an indoor generator. It's blocked off entirely until you get a sledgehammer or building a stair out of it.
Taking in consideration of all these locations ill still build at the fire station
I dont play Project Zomboid myself, but these videos are entertaining
it's actually better to spawn in those high pop towns IMO. The zombie pop is always at its lowest at the start so take advantage of it to loot the areas that suck later on.
I agree! It's one of the reasons why I like spawning in WestPoint instead of going there later
That's true. But on the other hand, by the time you choose to deal with harder areas your character is powerful enough for the job. So IMO, it's a win-win situation in both scenarios.
west of the west point is super actually (tree manors in there) {acces to forest large area 3 big manors and water also near but not much to west point and riverside}
maybe the office in maldraugh trainstation {supper big area so much loot but lack of water}
cinema saloon near louisville {greatly large area. acces to forest and water near to louisville. but so hard to clear}
also the shelter mod is super
Age of Empires music = instant Like
Gas-2-go in South Muldraugh is my favorite base)
I like the warehouse just south of the LV military checkpoint.
Ruby Gas is also a quite good Forward Operation Base
i cant believe you did not mention the farm thats right in the center of the map, it has a shed, a small fenced area you can use to grow crops and a water well so youll never run out of water, it also is very isolated so no zomboids around
Video starts at 1:17 btw
Thank you. Got i hate the preamble. Its like yeah yeah, subscribe and blah blah, not gonna happen unless you knock my socks off, everybodys out here tryna get a sub. What else is new.
