Thanks for sharing your video! But I thought that it was incorrect to use thread sealant on flanged fittings? In fact I think its not allowed by the fuel gas code?
I have done plumbing after going to NATC technical college over last twenty years and I never installed the actual burner just the gas lines feeding it on most of the homes with a gas fireplace that have worked on. i have seen them use pumice lava rock and crushed glass for the bedding in the gas fireplace and out fire pits. Also in the indoor gas fire places i have seen them use a strewn glass like rock whool but grey colored to add a glow like it was glowing hot underneath the ceramic logs. The crushed glass, and lava rocks are small rock sized usually or bigger.
I love your videos and I’m doing exactly this says the temperature here in central Florida was -25° this morning. This was obviously a ventless fireplace and I wondered how much heat you actually get as this is in my bedroom and I use electric plus propane heating to keep warm🙏
Great Video Ron, been 6 years since this was made, was wondering how long these last before needing to be replacement? And have you changed it out for something else since this video was made? Take Care
I have a question, I know that it won’t be enough to heat the whole house, how efficient heating wise is it, especially if I’m trying to heat up my good size living room
It looks like the unit gets electrical power from a wall-wart power supply, but you didn't show how that was installed. How was the wire routed and concealed, so as not to spoil the illusion?
I'm totally shocked by the video!! A vented or vent-free gas log set is NOT a DIY project. It should be installed by a certified professional installer. If you install it yourself and it has a problem that damages you home. Your Home Owner's Insurance is not going to know you!
The only power comes from 4 double A’s in the remote receiver. Which is easily hidden behind the unit. The gas valve operates on millivolts generated by the pilot flame.
Tried something similar, but wanted to replace my existing working fireplace with a gas regulator, so there is no gas left behind in the pipe when I turn it off. I could not remove the “u” shaped part of the pipe because of the position. Any suggestions to remove this so I can add the regulator.
Does the remote starting mechanism require batteries or electrical supply inside of the fireplace? If yes, how is that accomplished in a high heat environment?
The remote has a receiver with 4 double A’s and it’s easily tucked behind the unit. Most of the heat is directed up and out. Behind the unit down low stays pretty cool.

Our gas company installed it for us. Gets the room warm fast.
You don't need pipe joint compound (pipe dope) on flare to flare fittings.
I sure wish you included the model and specs of what you purchased from Empire?

I am interested as well about how the electronics are powered.
4 double A’s in the remote receiver. They last about a year sometimes more.
This may be a job for a hired professional to install since I have trouble lighting my gas grill.

Can I use my existing log holder rather than buying a new one with the log set?
I need to know if ALL gas hoses are proper for installation within the fireplace - I am concerned about the heat..

The remote has a receiver with 4 double A’s. A standard thermostat would work also.

Natural gas or propane in the demo?
Natural gas
Doesn't the gas need to be vented up through aluminum pipes? How does this radiate heat out without loosing heat?
NO. This is a Vent-free Gas Log Set. What he replaced was Vented Gas Log Set.
"losing"
@@thevoice765 wrong. They are both vent free.

Hello. Where would you purchase this kit? Thank you.
Ritchie Mamisay have your local dealer order you one.
That's awesome how you couldn't take the time to answer 1 persons question.

don't you turn the gas key hole on / off before using the remote?
Thank you. Now I know how to take a dump in someone's fireplace and conceal it with the logs so that they'll never know where the smell is coming from

I am sure that you will find good way to make it on woodprix Webpage.
A remote control, electronic, matchless start? How far away from our primal masculinity are we going to get?
This is just sad.
