This One's For Me And You was the third single released from Johnny Gill's 2014 album: Game Changer. It was written by Carlos Battey, Damon Sharpe, Gregg Pagani, Lance Tolbert and Steven Battey. It was produced by Johnny Gill and David Lombard. The song reached #1 on the Adult R&B chart. The music video was directed by Juwan Lee. The official music video for this song was nominated by the NAACP in 2017 for the Image Award for Outstanding Music Video. Yes, as always NE was pure melted butta 🧈 on hot popcorn 🍿!!!
NE was going record a full album of new songs after this single but the project never materialized. The fellas performed this song live on The Steve Harvey Show in 2016, as well as on New Edition's cross country tour in 2016 and at special events including The Tom Joyner Foundation 2016 Fantastic Voyage cruise, Capitol Jazz Festival. Their Legacy tour recently ended in April. But Johnny Gill, BBD, Bobby and Ralph will be performing this summer at special events and the like.

Johnny Gill was born on May 22, 1966 in Washington, DC. He is a singer and an actor. He started singing at the age of five, performing in church in a family gospel group called Little Johnny And Wings Of Faith, which included his brothers Bobby, Jeff and Randy Gill, a solo recording artist and member of the group II D Extreme. Johnny Gill attended Kimball Elementary, Sousa Junior High, and Duke Ellington School Of The Arts. Johnny Gill had planned to attend college to pursue a degree in electrical engineering but decided instead to focus on his singing career. His musical influences include: Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder.
Johnny Gill is the sixth and final member of the R&B group New Edition and was also a member of the supergroup called LSG, along with with Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat. Johnny Gill has released eight solo albums, three group albums with New Edition, two group albums with LSG as well as one collaborative album with Stacy Lattisaw. Johnny Gill has sold over 15 million copies worldwide as a solo artist.
Johnny Gill has also appeared on the tv shows: Family Matters, Cuts and One On One. He sang sang the song "You For Me" in the 2006 movie Madea's Family Reunion. He also starred in the 2009 stage play: A Mother's Prayer, alongside Robin Givens, Shirley Murdock and Jermaine Crawford.

Johnny Gill's professional recording career began in 1982, at the age of 16, when his childhood friend Stacy Lattisaw convinced him to record a demo tape. This demo tape fell into the hands of the president of Atlantic Records, and his debut self titled album was released in 1983 on Atlantic Records subsidiary Cotillion Records. Johnny Gill then teamed up with Stacy Lattisaw for the duets album: Perfect Combination, in 1984. A second solo album on Cotillion Records: Chemistry, was released in 1985.
Johnny Gill With New Edition 🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾:
Johnny Gill began a new chapter in his career in 1987 when backstage at The Whispers' concert he was recruited by Michael Bivins to join New Edition. Bobby Brown had been voted out of the group in 1985 and Johnny Gill was brought in to replace lead singer Ralph Tresvant, who was rumored at the time to be leaving to pursue a solo career. Johnny Gill became the only member of New Edition who was not originally from Boston. With Johnny Gill, the oldest member, as one of the lead singers along with Ralph Tresvant, who ended up staying with New Edition and delaying the launch of his solo career on the group's 1988 album: Heart Break, the group developed a more mature, adult sound. New Edition hit the Billboard music charts with Heart Break album songs including: "Can You Stand The Rain", "NE Heartbreak", "(Sorry) You're Not My Kind Of Girl", "If It Isn't Love" and the Johnny Gill led song "Boys To Men".
Johnny Gill Solo Career / NE Reunion 🎤:
Continuing his role as a romantic balladeer while emerging as a new jack swing star, Johnny Gill released his self-titled third album in 1990 which included the songs: "My, My, My", "Rub You The Right Way", "Fairweather Friend", "Feels So Much Better" and "Wrap My Body Tight". In 1991, he won two Soul Train Music Awards for: Best R&B/Urban Contemporary Album of the Year Male "Johnny Gill" and Best R&B/Urban Contemporary Single "My My My".
In 1993 Johnny Gill released another solo album: Provocative, which included the songs: "Quiet Time To Play", "The Floor", "Let's Just Run Away", "A Cute, Sweet, Love Addiction" and "I Know Where I Stand".
In 1996 Johnny Gill released his sixth solo album: Let's Get The Mood Right, which included the songs: "Let's Get The Mood Right", "Love In An Elevator", "Your Body" and "Maybe".
Also, in 1996 Johnny Gill reunited with New Edition and recorded the group album: Home Again, along with the cross country Home Again Tour which was a disaster leaving the New Edition group members going their separate ways during and at the conclusion of the tour. Only Johnny Gill, Ricky Bell, Ron DeVoe and Ralph Tresvant finished out the tour as Bobby Brown and Michael Bivins left in the middle of the tour after the group's New Mexico concert performance which included a fight between group members on stage.
Johnny Gill LSG / NE Reunion 🎤:
In 1997 Johnny Gill collaborated with Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat to form the supergroup LSG with Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat, which yielded the multi- platinum debut album: Levert.Sweat.Gill, and a #1 R&B song: My Body. Their final group album: LSG2, was released in 2003.
In 2004 he reunited with New Edition as they signed with Bad Boy Records and released the album: One Love. Bad Boy Records didn't properly promote the album and New Edition had issues with P Diddy over song selections while recording the album as well. The fallout from that Bad Boy Records experience would once again lead to New Edition splintering and the group members going their separate ways.
Johnny Gill Return To Solo Career 🎤:
In 2011, 15 years after recording his last solo album, Johnny Gill returned with his newest solo album: Still Winning, on Fontana Records which included the songs: "In The Mood", "Just The Way You Are", "It Would Be You" and "2nd Place".
In 2013 TV One produced an Unsung episode featuring Johnny Gill's life and musical career.
In 2014, Johnny Gill left Fontana Records and started his own record label: J Skillz Records, on which he released a new album called: Game Changer. The album produced several adult R&B radio hits, including the singles: "Behind Closed Doors", and the title track: "Game Changer". His New Edition bandmates appear on the song: "This One's For Me And You".
On September 6, 2019 Johnny Gill released his album: Game Changer II, which included the song Perfect a song featuring with Ralph Tresvant. In 2019, he won the SoulTracks Readers' Choice Award for Album of the Year for "Game Changer II".
In 2021 he released the Ralph Tresvant single and music video: All Mine, on his J Skillz record label in anticipation of a full Ralph Tresvant solo album which was put on hold due to COVID.
Johnny Gill still performs his music live on stage as a solo artist and with New Edition who he is currently out on tour with on the cross country New Edition Legacy Tour.
