  • Many young overseas Vietnamese who travel to Vietnam often experience a mix of familiarity and strangeness. It's a place that they can recognize because of the bits of Vietnamese culture they experienced through their family and local Vietnamese community, yet unfamiliar because of cultural nuances that differ from what they grew up with abroad.
They may find the language challenging despite understanding common phrases at home, and everyday customs can feel both intriguing and overwhelming. This duality often leads to a journey of self-discovery, as they navigate their identity between two cultures-feeling at home in some aspects but like an outsider in others.
We talk to Mai Phuong, who grew up in Manchester, United Kingdom about her experience navigating these contradictory experiences as she "comes home" to Vietnam.

23:40 My advice is when you want to filter something out, you can use some sound effects or say it in another language or say it in another way but do not just mute the sound away. It makes a creative way to filter and not make the audience think that their sound system had any issues.
I think nowadays, many people listen to RUclips videos like a background play podcast so the sound part become more important so it would be nice to make it in a good term.
