In this travel guide we see eagles, glaciers, deep sea fishing and much more. For many people this is one of the top areas to explore thanks to its many glaciers and the scenic coastal highway. The other area in Alaska people like to explore is the Inner Passage. In this Alaska road trip we go from Anchorage to Homer.

    Your video was beautiful and it was really nicely made. I have watched probably a good 20 videos now about Alaska. This is the only one that showed shops that showed cities towns. People walking around actually doing things. Thank you because this was educational and I felt like I was there.

    Thanks for sharing this. A 3rd fantastic way to experience Alaska that is far different from this is by cruise ship. We went out of Seattle on the 7 Day, with stops in Victoria Canada, Juneau, Ketchikan, Mendenhall Glacier and Skagway. We had excursions by helicopter to the top of a glacier, bus to another glacier, double decker at Victoria and a pontoon plane to an inland lake. We plan to do the 10 day next to go a bit further north.

    Really beautiful state :) but I'd hate to be stuck in that tiny tunnel during an earthquake x.x

    • @ellienoe2844
      @ellienoe2844 2 года назад +4

      It’s actually not bad. I was in it during a 6.0 a couple years ago. My company also did the structural concrete upgrades inside the tunnel. It is very sound and able to withstand a bad earthquake. There are several safe houses along the tunnel in case of breakdown or any disaster.
      I know your comment is 5mos ago but figured I’d let you know. 😂

    It's on my bucket list to go to Livengood Alaska. My cousin made a roadtrip there. I heard it's a nothing little town, but it would still be awesome to see. We have all the Pictures, of course, of Jay Livengood, and I think one of the Leibolds before they started off with the Sandusky company to go mine gold in Alaska. This is beautiful.

      I’ve driven the Dalton all the way to the Arctic Ocean. And I’ve been up to just south of Atigun Pass many times prospecting for gold. Livengood is really nothing. The drive is just starting to get good at that point. Gas up and just keep going.

    Nobody calls it "Highway 1", it is called the Seward Highway in that direction, south from Anchorage, and the Glenn highway in the other direction, to the north. Even though the two sections are not really even connected, in Anchorage you end up on small city streets in between.

      There is some boat tours around Homer that will take you across the bay to Seldovia. They say it's a bit of a wildlife tour also. The whole area around Homer seems interesting to me. lots of Fishing going on up there.

    When getting directions in Alaska, locals use the names of the highways. Many may not know where Highway 1 is but they definitely know the Seward Highway. Make sure and ask!!
    Interpretation: Highway 1 is the Seward Highway but it is also the Glen Highway.
    Major highways in Alaska: Seward Highway, Glenn Highway, Stirling Highway, Parks Highway, Richardson Highway.

    • @kubydoo

      True, but certainly not unique to AK. I've lived in WI & TN and it's common in both of those places, as well.

    • @spamanator666
      @spamanator666 Год назад

      Exactly this. If a tourist in Anchorage were to ask to me "how do I get to Highway 1?" I would be a bit lost at first... then probably ask where they are trying to go to.

      Driving from Seward to Homer'd be definitely awesome.I did that last month & had great fun....I stayed @ the Beluga Lodge near the Beluga Lake in Homer & its just some 4 miles from Homer Spit...its not a Hi Fi place but basic but ok & close to everything....I did solo road trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks, & once by the Alaska Railroad ( adventure class ) just for the experience & its unforgettable trip....Enjoy......!!!

      I know this comment is a little old, but just to clarify the high prices are mostly likely due to high import costs, whether by road sea or air, I’m sure shipping food up there is no easy task.

    lived in alaska for 3 years 1978-81 and it is indeed bueatiful but can have some harsh weather. the only time I went as far north as fairbanks was in the summertime. while there learned to ski, fish for salmon and probably needless to say saw more moose than a person would see squirrels in the lower 48 states🐻🐇🫎🐺🏔❄🙂
