After a month off, we are happy to back with our videos! We have a couple more Alaska videos to share and then we will share our Peru series. Please let us know if you have any questions about Anchorage, AK! Cheers ✈
Thank you so much guys.... as a life-long Alaskan and Resident of Anchorage, you really did a great job showing what the area has to offer, and there's so much more too.
I went to Anchorage in order to get an endorsement on my pilots licence so I can fly a float equipped aircraft from a water runway. Did it at Lake Hood alongside the airport. Great fun, had a blast, and I love the Alaskan "Can do" attitude to life. Yes, I do plan a return visit.
Congrats on the endorsement and pilots license. What a great experience to fly at Lake Hood. So cool to see the floats land and take off. The Alaska is quite a beautiful frontier. We hope to visit again and explore more of Denali National Park. Hope you can get back out there soon!
@billbeyatte we have another video highlighting the adventure. If you want a surprise, watch it after your adventure 😎 EPIC Adventure! Glacier Jet Ski Tour in Whittier Alaska 🧊 ruclips.net/video/Em0CRVp9lHU/видео.html
Thank you! It was a beautiful area despite all the rain. Apparently they have a short Summer. We were there just after mid august and all the locals were calling it fall 😅 We were getting very confused
I should have told y’all to stop at “My Mom's Thai Tastes” in Talkeetna! It was so good. I had the same ice cream on our visit and the marshmallow top is a must!
Yum! We love Thai food and can eat it all the time. We did go to a Thai place in the Kenai but it wasn’t that great. We thought about buying a little torch to toast our own marshmallow toppings at home 😆.
Thank you! We recommend a trip there between June and July for the best weather. August is apparently a rainier month and the locals kept calling it gal 😆😅
So good to see you in Anchorage and now the results of your trip. Rich will be jealous of the Puffins. We looked for them, but never saw them. His wife wanted a pic. I really liked the ridge hike. We had it penciled in but had pretty bad weather our 2 times through the area. Love the channel!
Thanks, Vern! We enjoyed seeing you in Anchorage and Rich's recommendation on the seaplane port. Our next video, we will have more on our glacier boat tour and plenty of puffin sightings. We were glad to have done the Denali State Park hike since we didn't have too many windows of sun. We were definitely chasing it. Bummed we didn't have time to see the national park, but another reason to return in the future to explore more report areas of Alaska. Appreciate you watching!
I visited Lake Hood in July 2019 to get a float plane rating on my pilots licence, loved it, great experience. Now I'm planning a winter visit to add Ski landing experience.
We would love that! Sounds like you’ll have to travel to some snowbound places 😉 sure can get can to a lot of cool places. We can picture you landing in Norway ❄️
We aren’t sure about that, but I’m sure there is a resource online (maybe Reddit?) to ask about that. We did a quick RUclips search and there seems to be a lot of videos under “seaplane landing Norway.”
Very cool you got to see Anchorage! It’s my husband’s hometown! I’ve only been there in the winter so it was nice to see it in a different season, in your video.
You should go down to Seward just to check out the Alaska sea life center and there’s a lot of shops that have a lot of handmade local stuff and you should check out eagle river and hike mount baldy or flattop they are great hikes
Thanks for watching, Roy! You will love it! I feel like we barely scratched the surface. One week is not enough 😆 Hope you’re having some fun adventures!
This is great--- I haven't been to Alaska yet and am turned off by the big cruises and tour groups. I'd like to do an independent trip and it looks like a great idea to use Anchorage as a base. Thanks for the great ideas! (And I bet Tim would say, "Why are you always 20 steps behind me?" LOL).
Alaska is an amazing place! So much left to explore. We love being able to be on our own time though the glacier cruises look cool, but I think booking a boat tour for the glaciers from land is just as amazing. You’re welcome! Yes, will forever be behind Tim 🤣😆 -Helen
@@HelenandTimTravel Stop allowing it!! Put your foot down! Tell him to start acting like a gentleman!! Walk behind to protect, walk on the outside of a sidewalk to protect!! I cant believe how many women I see walking behind like a lap dog!! This generation doesnt even know why men carry a handkerchief for Christ sake.
@robertstatile343 he definitely does all of that off camera ☺️ don’t want to not give him credit. Maybe I’ll just get a new husband? 😉 in a seriousness thanks for the input.
If you do visit Lake Hood then the museum there is worth a visit and I suggest the Lakefront Hotel for food. Not cheap but by far the best in the area.
Great video. Who was the fishing guide you used? My brother and I are going to Alaska in June and a fishing trip would be lots of fun. (Never mind. Watched your video again and got the name. Many thanks.)
Hello liked your trip video!!! Very excited for when we can visit Alaska next. During which time of August did you make this trip? Do you suggest a particular month for the trip
Hello Pranay! Glad you liked the video ☺️ we went mid August and that was considered the start of rainy season and we didn’t know and close to the end of their summer weather season. Our fishing guide said mid/end of June through July are the most ideal times to visit for more consistent weather. Excited you’re planning this trip!
We were there around the end of August in 2022 ☺️ It was the only non rainy day north of Anchorage we had so we made the drive. Many locals we talked to recommended visiting mid May to July for less rain and longer days. They kept calling August, “Fall” which we were confused by 🙃🤣
We didn’t at all! We were working full time at the time and only had a week to explore. Would love to go back in the future. We hope to go back to explore more of Denali one of these days
Too bad you weren't able to get some salmon that night. I bet it would be pretty darn good being that fresh! And there is just something poetic about eating ice cream in Alaska. (I don't know why food is on the brain while I make this comment.) Sorry about the shenanigans and tomfoolery that happened while you were there. I suppose there are scoundrels and rapscallions even in the most unexpected place. Looks like it was a great trip otherwise!
Your comment always are super entertaining. Maybe more than our videos 😆🤣 “poetic” and “ice cream” seem very fitting. The fresh salmon thing would’ve been clutch! Airbnb break in was a real damper on day 2. Maybe that’s why it took us so long to get to these videos. It was a fun adventure otherwise.
We were in Alaska for 7 days in August 2022. We were there with 4 people total. Got a 3 bedroom Airbnb found around $1300 USD. Car rental for a week was $700 & meals were average $20 to $25 person person for dinner, and grocery shopped for breakfast and lunch. Activities varied, but our glacier jet ski tour was $340 a person, Kenai half day fishing trip was $170 per person. Other activities ranged from free to $35 like the Anchorage museum and gold panning. Kenai State Park was free except you need to pay for an parking pass at certain lots. Also, train rides can vary depending on location and class of ride. Anchorage to Seward same day round trip on Adventure Class Alaska railroad was around $200 per person. For flights we used our Alaska credit card and got a buy one get one companion pass plus fees. So we paid around $500 for round trip flights Hope that helped!
If you want to experience the REAL Alaska, the best thing to do is get out of Anchorage as fast as possible. Not much "Alaska" left within 100 miles or so of there. Maybe Talkeetna? Most of Alaska that is reachable by road is no different from any other place in the lower 48 now. Stay away from any cities. The building boom has encroached everywhere!
It was our first time and we had one of our parents so kept it simple 😃 In the video we do highlight and visit Talkeetna and enjoyed our time there and exploring Denali State Park. Good tip for the future
@@HelenandTimTravel Glad you had fun. When I was living up there in the 80's my parents flew up to visit for a week. We went to several "scenic" spots. Eklutna Lake, Thunderbird Falls, Portage Glacier (you could actually still see it back then), Matanuska Glacier, and of course, Denali. It was in July, and we even went golfing! It was nice being able to show them around at things they never saw before.
Sounds like an awesome time! Thanks for sharing. Living in Alaska would be quite the adventure. We can’t even imagine how much more solitude there would have been back in the days 🏔️
We did found it quite spendy. It’s much harder to get everything they need perhaps. Even the pizzas were expensive! Can’t imagine with inflation and higher food costs now 😅
Purely our recommendations for things to do in anchorage…no ads except for the ones RUclips runs ☺️ We have skipped ads if you don’t want to watch them
That’s not a nice thing to say ☺️ We are work optional, worked hard to save money, and taking a couple years off from work to travel, so we don’t need to rely on sponsorships and ads Life isn’t about pleasing others and going for likes and subscribers. We edit these videos for our memories and if others can enjoy and feel inspired to go on their travels, that’s our only goal 🤙🏽

I'm in Seward now. Thanks for the tip on the jetski adventure.
Awesome! Have a great time! Let us know if you decide to do the jet ski adventure. The couple that owns the business are awesome 🤙🏽
I booked the jetski. It's $380 now. My last jetski adventure was in Key West, in swim suit and flip flops.

It was a fun trip! We need to take more surf trips!!! Portugal and Costa Rica are high on the list. We can make them hike + surf trips 🤙🏽🌊🏄🏻♀️😅😆
Good news. visit Alaska between July and September and the climate is better than you expect. Factor 20 sunscreen will suffice.
@MENSA.lady2 Definitely heard the weather is much nicer in parts of June and July!
I visited Lake Hood in July 2019 to get a float plane rating on my pilots licence, loved it, great experience. Now I'm planning a winter visit to add Ski landing experience.
Wow! That sounds like quite the accomplishment. Congrats, Ian! We would love to hear how your winter ski landing goes.
@@HelenandTimTravel I'll let you know in due course. Only problem is I live in England. We don't get enough snow to make it useful here.
