I FINALLY KNOW WHAT MY PLANT IS! I have had a cutting of this for a long time and we never knew what it was lol and Google lense always gave me the wrong answer 😂
Scandens leaves are supposed to be very thick, actually, thicker than Polybotrya's and Obtusifolia's. In fact I would recommend against doing your "taco" test with a healthy one anyway, because it would be easy for the leaves to snap in half if they are of proper thickness. With mine I do just squish them between two fingers and feel if they are thin and bendy or thick and solid. My great grandma kept hers out in the full sun. Her plants were so strong that even though she died over 10 years ago and no one has tended to her plants since (because her house is basically abandoned now) but the plants managed to climb the walls and feed off of the humidity in the bricks even as the base died off and the planters got taken away. Of course, it's helped by the fact that this town is literally within the natural distribution of the species (very high heat and humidity all year round), and I'm willing to bet that she probably got the plant by cutting stems from actual wild specimens. But in my college campus they also planted a few of the variegated ones across gardens, beneath trees so no direct sunlight, and they are also pretty thick on the leaves. I would say that they would burn otherwise because of the lack of humidity here.
feel like this is the first time ive seen a dedicated video to peperomia scandens, which is awesome because ive had one for a year without knowing anything besides the fact that it's a peperomia
I rescued one of these from a big box shop and all i have left is a small prop jar full. It’s so cute though. I’m so happy to see this video. Hopefully I can make what I have left happy.
Many thanks for this video! Very informative as always. Mine is a rescue and I’ve had it for about a year. Hopefully this Spring and Summer will bring her a full recovery! Such a pretty plant. 👏🪴🥰
someone gave me a cutting that started with one leaf over the winter and now its shooting out so many new leaves. had no idea what it was until recently. one of my favorite plants to grow!
Haha you are reading my mind! I bought this about a month or so ago at a box store. I was confused on its care, but you cleared up so much of my questions 💚🪴 Can’t wait til the next video. 🤩🍃💖
I love this plant!! I got the regular green in a lil 2 inch pot and it grew out and I propped it into a full plant! Now I've got a variegated 2 inch and I'm excited to do the same with it! Such an easy plant!
I love peperomia's, thank you for introducing them to me in your videos. I bought one of these over a year ago and it just keeps sending out sooo much flowers. Such a beautiful plant.
✨✨✨Black Cat Family here!!!✨✨✨ love this plant!!! though i love my beloved Black Cat she is an Evil Plant Eater!!! i cannot keep highly poisonous plants in my home and will be on the hunt for this now!!!
I have one in my apartment. Definitely love it! Love the lighter green color with the outer variegation. Now it's common and I even seen it in our local home depot in WA.
I finally got my hands on one of these last year after seeing it in one of your vids. Turned out it wasn’t super healthy, but it’s making a comeback. The leaves are still coming in small though.
I got one of these a little over a year ago after seeing it in a video of yours and it's honestly one of my favorite plants both for looks and care requirements. I think I was giving it a little too much attention and eventually put it up on a shelf on the wall in a bright room it is THRIVING even if I forget about it lol
So I literally just bought this like a week ago - your timing is perfectly lol! But I’m curious as to what signs you look for in the leaves before you water it….I’m not great with peperomia. I use a moisture meter and wait til they dry out but sometimes that isn’t even fool proof 🤷♀️
Wow… I bought one of these online with a plants that didn’t even have a tag and died with the one stem and two leaves it had and two pothos and the pothose are doing ok, but this pepperomia just isn’t really thriving. It’s gotten maybe 3 new little leaves but lost more than it’s grown and just hasn’t gotten any bigger. I have a full spectrum grow light 12 hrs day and keep the soil moist as the tag says. It looks NOTHING like this lol. I wish it would grow vibes!!! I mean the leaves look like this but I had no idea it would grow like this!
I've always wanted one .....but I kill all the peps I've ever bought or whatever 🙃 thanks I may try once more then I'm done 😆 may I ask?? Nick plz do a video on dis.million hearts
Is this the peperomia serpens? It seems peperomia scandens is a synonym of the peperomia serpens but I'm not really sure. That's one of the plants on my list. Edit: I actually found out it is the serpens. I love this plant.
The tips of mine are constantly turning brown and very difficult to keep it happy. It’s in a hanging basket in a north facing porch and I’m so sad bc the beautiful vines look terrible.
I found one of these lovelies over the summer, but once cooler weather came and was brought inside, it started dropping leaves and the new growth was stretched and very bare. Any suggestions?
My peperomia scandens is all leaves bunched up. No stems, let alone vining. Does anyone know what I can do. Less light? My peperomia hope is in the same spot but it's all stems. 🤷♀️

You must be a wizard, I literally just bought one of these yesterday at a plant festival with like minimal knowledge. Such perfect timing, thank you!

Got my first pepperoni last week, it’s a teardrop one but i can’t get over how shiny the leaves are
pepperoni or a Peperomia? LOL
@jessicadaniels536 I do love a pepperoni pizza that's shiny from grease, lol. Maybe old mate got confused haha
Always love when Muffin makes an appearance💚😻💚

Love, love, love Muffin and your videos Nick!
I love Muffin cameos. It would be fun to have a Muffin compilation of all her appearances in your videos.
Right on time. I bought one of these a couple months ago, and it's kinda struggling right now.
Many thanks for this video! Very informative as always. Mine is a rescue and I’ve had it for about a year. Hopefully this Spring and Summer will bring her a full recovery! Such a pretty plant. 👏🪴🥰

Thanks Nick for this information. I just brought this a month ago. So far it's been the easiest peperomia plant I've had so far. Love it...

I have one of these and it was labeled as a Cupid peperomia! It took a while to start, but is going nuts this spring.
Also hi to Muffin ❤️
That’s another common name for it that I forgot to mention!
I just got one today! Thanks for the info!

The leaves get soft & wrinkly, kinda like a Hoya!
Yeah, they’ll def droop a little bit and maybe get a little pale too if it’s gone a little too far on the dry side
Just ordered one! Woohoo, great video!
Love your cat
He is stunning 😍. Reminds me of my sweet Indigo. RIP. Gorgeous plant too.
Bought one of those years ago when I still lived in Hawai’i. Promptly killed it by overwatering. Rotted badly. So sad! 😂

@@NickPileggiPlants yay that would be great I love mine but it keeps dropping hearts I'm not sure why can't wait alway look forward to watching
mine is growing really slow and is still really small. there's new growth but not as much as my other plants... i water it 5-7 days.
