@@ironwilltennis not sure if you've covered this before but I can't get my slice backhand to stay low. It always floats embarrassingly high and long. I've watched all the vids on it but can't get it right...
watched 10 billion video's of this. You are the first one who is down to earth and making it simple and clear. No bull shit content. Just practical and useful. Thank you so much.
Have always known weight shifting is crucial in effortless yet powerful strokes, but this was the vid that made it clear and simple to follow for us recreational players, please keep up the great content as you’re helping many a lot! Cheers
For the most common shot in tennis.. we finally have an instruction utilising its breakdown in a most insightful and memorable way with an added skating analogy to boot, always a useful tool for reactivation on court. Love your work, thanks Will.
No wasting of explanation time. On the mark. Actually useful and really applicable. Got into the essential of the essentials in no time. Thank you. This tip is what I am missing all this time. And also this one made me really understand the point of using the open stance as oppose to the other tutorials that have point it out also.
Coach hitting the balls so effortlessly clean power. Deadly on course. Forgot to bring it up you didn’t mention here stay relax on your arm and body as striking the ball. If coach don’t mind I bring this up. Thanks again coach.
Correct it more focus on bottom part of body. But it was super helpful of coaching. Keep up all the coaching lots of us here are cheap don’t want to pay for coaching lessons. Keep supplying your students.
Effective teaching on using footwork for power on the forehand. Can you show your idea of footwork for power for hitting a one-hand backhand? I feel much of my inconsistency in the backhand is mostly caused by by improper footwork getting to the backhand position and through the shot.
Very useful videos. Please make two videos on (1) how to anticipate where the opponents ball is falling in your court. I often can't judge the ball is falling short or deep. (2) how to prepare Unit turn early not late. My unit turn is often late. Some eye, hand and foot drills. Thx
I THINK THE BODY ADJUST ITSELF AS PER OUR REQUIREMENT IN TERMS OF POWER, SPEED, AND THE HEIGHT ABOVE THE NET . ONCE WE HAVE INTEREST AND OBSERVATION , RET OF THE JOB DONE BY BRAIN AUTOMATICALLY
@ironwilltennis Nice informative video ! I've been coaching for about 40 years and I think that the most understood part about tennis is the first step. After the ready hop, I call it Point your outside toe where you want to go. On outside balls to be super fast you're pointing that toe and then getting your other leg in a 45 degree angle to push off then running to the ball . I think that people don't understand there are inside balls in the middle 1/3 of the court and outside balls all outside balls ...outer 1/3s ...you're turning and running to ...all inside balls you're shuffling more in adjusting to get the proper distance to the side to move in in a diagonal stance or neutral. ..to move your hip angular into the ball or linear momentum into the ball. The move your showing on neutral balls is called the front foot pivot on balls you can move into. RUclips video on the front foot hop on short attacking balls...cheers to you !
Great instructions Soon, this channel will be recognized as very useful and 25K subscribers will be just a fraction of overall subscribed. Keep up a good work!
My foot work Suc*. Is there any drills we can work on it ? I am going to work on this. Great video. Can you do a video on loading on forehand, backhand ,volley and serve ? Thanks.
Hey Will there is one more thing I like you to cover in a video: Heavy, high balls that come our way force us to either move back or hit early. Since hitting it early requires a lot of perfect timing, we almost all the time chose to move back. The thing to remember here is to not get jammed as the high ball requires us to create more space to be able to hit the higher ball. Brian (?) covered this in a video quite well I thought. BUT he did not show this as a real practise. Could you do that ? Thanks Regards from Singapore from Will
@@ironwilltennis Thanks! Currently Im using the Luxilon Alu Power Rough 16L both cross and main... never break, tension 55 to start. Have you used the Luxilon before?
The one handed backhand has a small loophole but in general it follows the same rule. Your allowed to cross your legs a little more simply because you don't need the huge amount of body rotation that you do with a 2 hander or forehand so crossing a little is ok
I feel like the incoming ball has plenty of energy if you know how to utilise it simply by hitting cleanly, even without needing much power from either momentum from weight transfer or swing speed.
Does measuring with right foot first technique apply the same in inside out or DTL shots as well? I cannot get power on inside out forehands or down the line backhands…. (My backhand is 2H)
The ice skating analogy really explains the concept of shifting the body weight very well
Thanks, it's a key point where people go wrong. I'm glad you caught that. Let me know if there's something you'd like to have covered on the channel

I THINK THE BODY ADJUST ITSELF AS PER OUR REQUIREMENT IN TERMS OF POWER, SPEED, AND THE HEIGHT ABOVE THE NET . ONCE WE HAVE INTEREST AND OBSERVATION , RET OF THE JOB DONE BY BRAIN AUTOMATICALLY
Plant your outside foot behind the bounce of the oncoming ball. You can do that by judging the flight early off your opponent's racket.
You are not wrong 😁

Really halpful, thanks, but as so many others, only explaning the forhand side. How about the backhand side. Especilly a one handed backhand?
This footwork is universal. I stayed on the forehand just to keep the video short. But it all applies exactly the same 😁👍
One of the Bests vídeos os the net about weight no the strokes
Maybe you can make a more complete would Be great

Not untrue. But it's limited to what the person gives you

6:18 onwards, those are closed or semi-closed shots not the open stance skating move
good video- your necklace kept rubbing your mic.
Yea I noticed it in post, sorry about that 😔
No worries. Still a good video.@@ironwilltennis
A great video! However, I think it’s the way you transfer your body weight with this footwork. Timing this footwork isn’t that easy lol
Well said 👏
Your follow through is messed up..meaning your contact point is off
