The most amazing thing about Richie is how humble he remains when he has so much talent. Constantly being compared to other artists, and yet is just as talented as those he's compared to and has been in the industry just as long. He's one of the best artists of this era. Thanks, Richie.
Exactly... that comparing him to Chris Cornell is very annoying... with all due respect to Cornell, he never had the talent that Kotzen has. Richie is a multi-instrumentalist, he sings, composes, plays drums, bass...he's been with Mr. Big and both current projects The Winery Dogs and Smith /Kotzen wouldn't make it Cornell in two full lifetimes.
His lows and high range is spot on Cornell...And it's his natural voice its insane...what makes it more crazy he looks a lot like him to which may be why they have the same tone idk...but ur right they sound like each other ....jealous of both lol
Never knew much about Richie until the Winery Dogs. Have to say he is way more versatile than I realized. Indeed a talented fellow who deserves more recognition.
Fever Dream.... He was about 19 if that and back in early 90s . Incredible voice, remarkably fluid, soulful and intense guitar player. It's so wonderful to see him still kicking it!! Beautiful song 👌
when i read comments like yours i just smile......it s so naive to think things like you do, you see, the word 's quite a big place, and you gotta recognize ,what magnificent thing is,when mllions of people come together appreciating something..it means, that s really something that touches masses.....and the Stones are one of those things,so,no use in comparing....kotzen gives something to you, that s good, i also have my artists ,who don t gain major success ,but to me they are Gods...it s just our personal taste...then there is reality, that rality which involves the est of the world , and it s a bigger reality ;)
Glad to see him playing older songs, too. I love his late 90s albums, very soulful and melodic. Records like "Break it All Down", What If"'.... true gems.
Thank you for having such a talented and compassionate artist on your show! I’ve seen him once but going to see him again in October in Nashville! Been a fan since his first album( He’s two months younger than me - I am an old school head-banger). 🤘 I’m so happy he’s making music on a regular basis and happy for the public’s reception (finally) of his work. Genius level musician ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
Who sounds this good in a TV studio? He would have been plonked in a corner and told to sing. This is what talent and good song writing proves. Ironic that the presenter comes out saying "hes's the real deal"... Doesn't she know who this guy is? The work he's put in, the albums he's recorded, the tours? This guy is the best around and only a certain number of us sadly know this. He's totally next level. Loved him since his Shapnel Record days but love him even more now.
I can not believe I didn't know about this guy, hell this band for that much,, until just last year. Especially growing up as a rock musician , in Southern California, in the 80's & 90's. He is fucking amazing, in every style he chooses to tinker with, jazz, fusion, metal, blues, and whatever else he wants to toss in the mix. Personally I compare his vocals more to Al Greene , or John Hall than Cornell. There is a very small group of true Guitar God's and Richie is one of them.
Wow... im speeches. The day Chris Cornell died was a sad day for me and in music. He was one of my favorite artist. I play guitar and remember kotzen as a shredder. Finding this video and his music made me very happy today!
Not just a shredder at all. He has some really great bluesy rock tracks where the guitar is a driving force and then songs like this which are really well written. The guy is crazy talented.
Can't believe he cut his hair had great hair still regardless the man is so underated it's sickening it's time richie kotzen was a household name here in the states overseas he's there already
Well, trippy to see Richie without his Tele, but beyond that...asking about opening for a band with half his talent instead of talking about his real achievements was pretty lame. Don"t hate on me Stones fans, i like them too, however I own all Winery Dog albums and his solo stuff and only have the Stones greatest hits, guess which has more play time in my household?
But you have to be honest. Most people do not know who Ritchie Koten is or who the Winery Dogs are. That is why he charges $20 and plays the Vamped and the Stones still sell out 70,000 seat stadiums and where the cheapest ticket is $135. I saw the Stones in 2015 and sat at around the 50 yard line and paid $265. They sold out New Era Field...around 70,000 seats
Totally agree, Jim. Two different things - adult contemporary music and pop/rock bands/artists who "captured" mainstream. Btw, Richie was only 19 when REH published his guitar lessons' video. Man, remember his alien-ish sweep-picking.
And it cant be fun to be introduced as the ex guitar player of Poison..ha.Ouch that hurts! We all do mistakes but keep on rockin you great especially as a singer love your voice!
Don’t be fooled my friend, he’s still a hell of a shredder, bu I guess there’s more time for composition and arrangements in his new material. But I bet he can be up there with Satriani, Vai and others when it comes to shredding
Richie has done things HIS way! He doesn't want a private plane. While other bands are sinking hundreds of thousands into re-master, Richie owns his music.
As much as I love Sheehan and Portnoy, I like Kotzen better with his band- they give him a lot of space. The best example is if you check out You Can’t Save Me from 2015 with his band then watch the same song with Winery Dogs, it’s a completely different experience
Daniel Cole I am a HUGE fan of all Cornell's work seen him live in numerous venues....RK does not take a back seat to him vocally.....I don't see how the two are not or weren't compared more....What a talent and a fiddle player too......
Probably one of the most talented underrated people in music.
Unbelievably under appreciated! Such a gifted performer
No Doubt!!
Most definitely, voice and guitar chops are epic.
agreed - similarly, Ian Thornley - Big Wreck
It is a shame that he is not a superstar. The dude is the definition of an artist.
The most amazing thing about Richie is how humble he remains when he has so much talent. Constantly being compared to other artists, and yet is just as talented as those he's compared to and has been in the industry just as long. He's one of the best artists of this era. Thanks, Richie.

RIchie and humble? I bet you've never met the guy, he's the biggest douche I've ever run across
One the best voices in rock, reminds my of Chris Cornell.
And Ian Thornley
His lows and high range is spot on Cornell...And it's his natural voice its insane...what makes it more crazy he looks a lot like him to which may be why they have the same tone idk...but ur right they sound like each other ....jealous of both lol
totally !!!! same here ... he reminds me Chris Cornell a lot!
He was earlier than Chris Cornel. Chris sounds kinda like Kotzen.
So many have no idea how good this guy is. No idea.
One of the most talented musician in our time. A virtuoso, composer and singer. He is a legend started from Poison.
@@youngtevanced8818 Yes, and he has instrumental albums prior top Poison too. If you haven't seen them, look it up. Good stuff.
@@jaxinzbak oh that was a good trivia, thanks.
This man is a legend!! Richie forever!! endless talent
This dude is proof all men are NOT created equal.
Maybe she should be asking the Stones "What's it like to have Richie Kotzen open for you?" He's got more talent than all the Stones put together.
Maybe he's as good as the Stones minus Ronnie Wood.
I woul ever prefere Richie Kotzen. Where are the Stones? (and I am a 1955er)
The Stones never ever could do something like that!!!
youre god damn right
when i read comments like yours i just smile......it s so naive to think things like you do, you see, the word 's quite a big place, and you gotta recognize ,what magnificent thing is,when mllions of people come together appreciating something..it means, that s really something that touches masses.....and the Stones are one of those things,so,no use in comparing....kotzen gives something to you, that s good, i also have my artists ,who don t gain major success ,but to me they are Gods...it s just our personal taste...then there is reality, that rality which involves the est of the world , and it s a bigger reality ;)
Without the Stones there would be no Richie Kotzen. Be humble. Be quiet and don't be ignorant.
Glad to see him playing older songs, too. I love his late 90s albums, very soulful and melodic. Records like "Break it All Down", What If"'.... true gems.

His musical styles evolve and getting better...never ends...
Japanese love Richie and thank god they kept supporting RK throughout the decades

More like Stones was a Closer for Kotzen :)
Ha ha - yes
Viktor D. I completely agree with this
Definitely
I dont know what he does better : play or sing. He's a complete musician
I like those lyrics "I will try hard to believe in a higher power but it is easier to let it be." that's truthful.
Richie should sing more often this early in the morning. Sounds great!
Wow... im speeches. The day Chris Cornell died was a sad day for me and in music. He was one of my favorite artist. I play guitar and remember kotzen as a shredder. Finding this video and his music made me very happy today!

I love this! Ritchie you sound great.. acoustic..please keep it going!
This man and his compadres are amazing! Richie has never been given the credit due to him!
Always right to the middle of my soul. Love ya Richie!❤️
Amazing.. Moz underrated musician out there.. The Best!
Unbelievable talent this guy is 👍
great voice, so glad he persevered with his vocals
Possibly the first i've seen tv show hosts being pleasant and well-informed about such a guest. Pleasantly surprised!
I'm not much of a ballad guy , but that was great !
How can you go wrong with Richie ...
Can't believe he cut his hair had great hair still regardless the man is so underated it's sickening it's time richie kotzen was a household name here in the states overseas he's there already

Meh, at least they were civil. Quite enjoyable for some television show hosts.
But you have to be honest. Most people do not know who Ritchie Koten is or who the Winery Dogs are. Love him,... love this song,... love this version of it. "I WOULD"
Amazing guitarist and a great singer. ❤
Work work work! I just adore the way this man does his job!! The best guitar musician ever known and at the same time a very nice guy!!
Incredible voice and very talented musician!
How fucking humble. Those hosts should have bowed in his presence.
Richie smokes the stones everyday all day!!
How can he sing like that with such a deep voice. I got a deep voice and wouldnt think its possible lol, crazy talent
Mano que voz! O cara é completo musicalmente falando
Grande ,Grande el Sr. Kotzen, un tremendo instrumentista(buenísimo guitarrista) y gran compositor ..
gracias por tu música
What a great song!$15.00 to get in to the show? It's worth a lot more for sure!
Beautiful!
And it cant be fun to be introduced as the ex guitar player of Poison..ha.Ouch that hurts! We all do mistakes but keep on rockin you great especially as a singer love your voice!
Richie is so talented and his voice is more underrated than his guitar playing.
el mejor artista que existe sobre la tierra....!!!!
Concordo totalmente
En efecto men.......the best of the best
Richie Kotzen é fodão demais!
el mejor que existia era Chris cornell hasta hace una semana :/
pero tambien me encanta Richie es un talentazo y entre los mejores de la actualidad.
Exatamente,the best Richie Kotzen!!!
Can't believe this is the same guy who, 30 years ago, started out as a guitar shredder.
John Drake first album was shred, on the second one he already sings. Third, shred....fourth sings...he was always like this in fact.
Don’t be fooled my friend, he’s still a hell of a shredder, bu I guess there’s more time for composition and arrangements in his new material. But I bet he can be up there with Satriani, Vai and others when it comes to shredding
acoustics sound so smooth!!! Great!!!
Give it everything you've got Richie. The coast is clear.
Maybe make your way to New Zealand some day.
Richie has done things HIS way! He doesn't want a private plane. While other bands are sinking hundreds of thousands into re-master, Richie owns his music.
i love richie stuff....man, some songs just put music to my life.. but i cant help to see how skiny is he, hope he is ok, he is a great soul...
awesome Richie! I can feel you in all my nervous system !
Ritchie you r great as always !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing Musician & Humble which is rare with these dudes...
Beautiful song. Wow!
Hes great!! I love Richie's music!!!
And just when the song start wooow I was blown away, I would.
Nice song amazing voice and talent
Guys, this is the internet. We need to know what Japanese commercial is using his music. Now.
And it's "the most amazing thing."
Yeah! Rchie is the Best!
He's gonna give that bass player a good roasting me thinks...
Wow. Nice!
And quit the Cornell comparison issue please!! This is Richie Kotzen!!!
It's funny that they don't seem to realize there is a total legend in the room.
Pure gold fellas... silky smooth.
What a great song as well!
One of the best!
Hard to believe the ticket prices for this phenomenal talent!
Love this man!
As much as I love Sheehan and Portnoy, I like Kotzen better with his band- they give him a lot of space. The best example is if you check out You Can’t Save Me from 2015 with his band then watch the same song with Winery Dogs, it’s a completely different experience
Soul
Everything he do is amazing!
always a great player and good move for his voice, there's a little black hole sun in there, nice...
Wow that was great!
Fingerstyle whith electric guitar and pick with acoustic...
24hrs was the first album he started using finger picking for the majority of his playing.. I’ve seen him play with and without
AHaha
Yes I see
Anyone thinks of Tony Stark?
Verdade... Melhor desejar ser o Luan Santana
Very underated guitarist
Super music 🍀🎼👌🙏🎶🎵❤️🎸✌️🎤🥁
So much talent in this guy
True talent!
Push that guy ! Chris Cornell voice, awesome guitar player and songwriter - what more do you want !
I love Richie & he is so talented but he doesn’t have a better voice than Chris Cornell!😳
Amazing! Kotzen is the Best!!
Awesome !!!
Anybody ever notice that Richie has a bit of a Chris Cornell-ish quality in his voice?
Daniel Cole Check out the winery dogs playing Cochise with Tom Morello a couple of years back. Sounded almost identical to Chris
I agree
Daniel Cole I am a HUGE fan of all Cornell's work seen him live in numerous venues....RK does not take a back seat to him vocally.....I don't see how the two are not or weren't compared more....What a talent and a fiddle player too......
I have also noticed a Sammy Hagar type quality. Yet Ritchie came out with his first vocal albums before Soundgarden got famous.
I agree, I can easily confuse which of the two are singing when listening to their songs.
beautiful song~
sounds like "nothing compare" by prince
still loving your voice...
Love it, him, this trio. ✌
Wonderful! He's fuckin awesome!
Esse cara é LENDA!
dude is a great musician, singer/songwriter, shredder, what else? gimmie a break...oh and soulful listen to 'Bad Situation!'
They rock.
Damn this is amazing.
YO Richie! Come to Guatemala Please!!!!
Best technician guitarlist richie kotzen no1
It's soooo weird to see Richie using a pick. xD
Filip Keljevic i think he can use his ass and still sound great lol
Totally agree! :D
Pablo Mazza I'm dying
He used to be a guitar shredder.
back on the old days, he is such an amazing shredder with crazy sweeppicking, his legato and alternate picking is also unreal!
wanted to see him and chris cornell work on song together oh well
the song he play really nice but i can't find the name of this........pls remind me !!! Thanks
That was magic!
God the Poison thing was a one-off a hundred years ago. Yeah let's not mention his solo career or the Winery Dogs. Clowns.
Kotzen had evolved into a master
