  • Do I still recommend the Glock 26 as pocket carry or concealed carry self defense or have I finally changed to just recommending the Springfield Armory Hellcat or maybe the FN Reflex? All three are chambered in 9mm and can be easily pocket carried using the correct wardrobe choices.

    I have a Glock 19 and wanna pick up a 26 as I’ve found myself deciding not to carry due to bulk. Now that I’m in the Glock ecosystem I feel like it’s dumb to move to another platform even if they have some small edges. I absolutely love the 19, and a 26 feels like a no brainer.

    I’ve had all 3, the P365 and Shield. I’ve got 1200+ rounds though my FN reflex now and it’s the best yet. I’ve installed Sig X-RAY sights on it and it’s been 100%. I didn’t jive well with the stock sights.
    It’s softer shooting than the Hellcat and P365. It’s about the same as the Shield + but lighter, easier to rack slide and WAY easier to load mags, than all of them. It’s my fav gun along with my P365 XMacro Comp.

      Between the reflex , hellcat , 365 - is the reflex thicker ? I’m torn between 365 and FN and I’ve been told the reflex is thicker - but if that’s from front of grip to back that’s ok - but not if it’s thickness / width. Does the FN handle recoil any better??

    Nice video. I prefer the Hellcat. Mine have been super reliable. I don’t find either the OSP or Pro to be snappy. I really like Springfields magazines, stainless construction and they easily load to full capacity and insert into the pistol without any issue. I tried a Reflex and liked the feel but I felt the trigger was a little to light for a carry gun for me. Maybe it was just the sample that I tried.

    I carry an unmodified Hellcat with 11 round pinky extension mag.
    I do not shoot to the break. I find that if I shoot to the break, my groupings are not as good and I can not get shots off as quickly or as accurately. Especially during rapid fire drills, my finger comes off the trigger and stays in the guard. As I am re-acquiring the target, my finger comes back on the trigger and to the wall. As soon as I am back on target, I simply have to break the wall. This way i am not pulling the muzzle off target or jerking the trigger while taking the shot.
    I prefer the Hellcat because it has a well-defined wall that breaks with about a 5 pound pull. The wall is easy to find and I do not waste time trying to find the reset.

    Idk what Glock could really do to “innovate” the Glock pistol line? You can only improve on something so much. I think their pistols are great the way they are and have been for many years. They have MOS versions now and rails for lights. I mean, what else is there to do? Honest question. Well….maybe come factory standard with steel sights, but that’s all I can think of 🤷🏻‍♂️

      They kind of locked themselves in with marketing also.
      That "Glock Perfection" motto was great for 20+ yrs... changing the design kind of is an admission of lack of perfection, eventually they're gonna have to do something to stay competitive, it'll be interesting to see what.

      @@Peakfreudsomethings are just great the way they are...iconic,old and great and thats why people love them....things like 1911s, thompsons, aks and uzis, no matter how "crude" or "outdated" people complain they are just seem to seemlessly work and get the job done in any condition....even tho there are more innovative,ergononic and even lighter weapons but there is only one fonzerelli, if you get what im saying

    • @Peakfreud
      @Peakfreud 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@soulbrother1143 I agree some what, but eventually wood stock gave way to cheaper and lighter plastics, polymer also made production faster & cheaper, innovation for civil usage is slower, for military usage every slight edge is pursued.
      Even the 1911 evolved to accommodate optics
      The 1911 also slowly made its way off the battle field along with the traditional 45.
      Glock has also changed, there just so many makes and the keep the same ergonomics and design line that it appears that they haven't
      But the Micro line of 9's is definitely innovation & evolution, small innovations add up albeit slowly to redefine design.

    You forgot about the plus 2 factory magazines for the 26... I just don't know nor understand about what does glock need to do to change their pistols??? I keep hearing innovate, innovate, innovate what??
    I do think Glock should tap into the PCC market and just maybe try to make a 5.7 but far as their pistols No. Keep them the same it's for a reason and that reason is reliability.
    The same people who complain about Glock should innovate are the same people who people who put aftermarket parts in their Firearms no matter the brand and they wonder why the gun doesn't work.... People should just buy a gun for what fits them.. people are putting themselves at risk changing out barrels, guide rod's, and triggers on your EDC all because it looks cool vs it's reliability.

    • @6.5mm_is_the_best_mm
      @6.5mm_is_the_best_mm 9 месяцев назад

      I love my Glocks, but they are bulkier than they need to be and could hold more rounds if they ditched the plastic sleeved mags that get stuck in the mag well sometimes. They also come with plastic sights. They are amazing in their simplicity, and I love that I can completely disassemble and reassemble the entire gun with my eyes closed. But to say that any changes would ruin their reliability is shortsighted. There are plenty of guns out there that score just as high if not higher than Glocks in NATO testing and those companies are innovating. Glocks still hold so much of the market share, so they are resting on their laurels.

    I love the reflex, I’ve had or have them all glock 26 seems fat after holding hellcat or reflex. I think hellcat is too snappy for a 9mm & the grip feels like a square Lego block, fn reflex feels 10X better in my hands and I like grip better.
    Lastly the hellcats sight are ok, but not a fan of that little U shape in the rear. Both are far better than G26, if I was a new gun owner today I think that it’s possible I would not own a Glock. I do still love the G19 and G17 but with the sig 365 platform it would win out, and for real full size guns the VP9 or walther would take the cake

    You don't pick a tiny compact gun because you want to, it's out of necessity. If you can carry the 26, you can carry a PDP compact. So yes, guns like that make no sense anymore.

      I never heard somebody choosing a gun over the ability to take it apart. I didn't think that would matter. S&W bodyguard is very annoying to take apart and that criteria still doesn't matter when talking about a defensive handgun.

    • @planofman8599
      @planofman8599 8 месяцев назад +1

      I didn't even consider the takedown lever, and only think about it when I debate with myself (again) over replacing it with a gas pedal. For me, it was the flared edges keeping my nubs off the slide, the grip texture, the placement of the magazine release, the best combat optics I've seen on a pistol, the 15 round capacity, the slide release having the ability to rack a round, the rail, the stainless slide, the undercut trigger guard, and the trigger guard being large enough to use with gloves, the polished extended feed ramp and the halfway decent gen 2 trigger. I like the Kimber Mako's trigger better, but the overall useful and well thought out features on the Hellcat are what won me over. The handle size feels better (for me) than the Sig P365. Add in the Hellcat's reputation for feeding any ammo without a hiccup and otherwise being very reliable and you've got a recipe for a decent gun.
