This could all be solved real quick if the chat logs were just released. Someone is making sure the truth isn't being released. Typically, the giant corporations are able to pull that off better than the individual.

There's also this implication that it's related to sexting or something, except he said it wasn't illegal, no crimes committed, and he never met them. There was also that email alleging it was apparently around the context of coaching/mentoring around how to set up streaming and channels. So even wanting to know if it was a catfish or not seems to already be jumping ahead of what we actually know. (That email also alleges people were divided within Twitch and some were actively gunning for him.)

To those asking for Doc to release the chat/whispers, he legally cannot. Under the Court of Law, that would be considered endangering a minor. So those chat/whispers are forever sealed til said parents or legal guardian signs off on it.
The girl in question was 17 (mind you have to be 18 to use the whisper function supposedly) this was a couple years ago now, she could do it herself. Not only that what Dr D said in his post isn't being taken in full, but out of context for sensationalist media blitzes like this. I personally think he pulled a stupid but once he realized something wasn't right he backed off.

You can not trust whatever Cody is saying as he could not have seen the chat logs. He was a nobody pencil pusher at Twitch. Do you really think the Twitch legal department brought him, or anyone else claiming to know exactly what was said, in and showed him the documents before the courts had them sealed?

I'm with Nina, I still want to know what "inappropriate" means. To me, sexting is inappropriate, but if we went by what we as a society deem to be "inappropriate" for minors based on ratings and content moderation, something like a Friday Night Tights or Yellow Flash stream is inappropriate for minors. Are we really going to pretend some of those jokes aren't fine for a 17 year old? Are we pretending no one under 18 tells crude jokes? So for me, I want specifics. What exactly is being considered "inappropriate."

BTW, adultery (i.e. cheating) is technically still illegal in a number of states. Many states decriminalized it a while ago (California did so before 1990), but others still have it on the books. Now, getting a conviction through would be hard.* It hasn't been enforced, but it's technically on the books. (Last case was in 1983, I think.)

So, now you know. In theory, you can be charged with a crime if you cheat in certain states. Wisconsin had the name "Republican" used for a local anti-slavery party. Michigan had the first official Republican state convention with a proper platform (again, focus on abolitionism).
*Admittedly, the reason why it was hard for so long was because of Roe v. Wade, actually. This case read in a "right to privacy" that was used to prevent enforcement of laws like this. But since Roe v. Wade has been overturned and thus the associated right to privacy no longer exists (i.e. there is no right to privacy in the constitution, so that is no longer a valid defense to avoid prosecution), we're honestly in uncharted territory as to whether these laws could be enforced. There's probably very little political willpower to do so, but you know.... And yeah, the last case was after Roe v. Wade. Yes, the state courts deemed that privacy rights did not prevent such a prosecution. It's really just political willpower preventing prosecutions, now.

Fact is they and others keep taking what he said in his tweet out of context, it's sensationalist bull manure. I don't agree with what he did for moral reasons, however, from the chain of events, the fact she was 17, not 18 which is how old you have to be to use the whisper feature and Twitch also making a deal with him rather than going to the authorities, this tells me he broke no laws and he likely realized something wasn't right and cut himself off.
