- This is my take on what I believe is the closest to a "perfect" 2x2 bunker design in rust. No half walls to save on cost, no issues with placing surrounding foundations or walls throughout the base, and no stability issues as you expand vertically. You can implement this bunker into ANY 2x2 design you already have or learn later on. Teammates new to rust? No problem. The bunker is incredibly easy to seal so no worrying about the new guy being the last to get offline. Personally, there are other bunkers that have their advantages but I do enjoy keeping a traditional 2x2 layout in the core while making it easy to get in and get out. This bunker achieves ALL of that while working around a oil refinery in the core.

Lastly I'm sure someone in the comments will rant about how I may not be the first to do this. I'm sure one of the other thousands of rust players have found / recorded building this bunker. I'm simply making an attempt at teaching how to build this as I would like someone to teach me. Just wanted to go ahead and get that out of the way.

So bad news... the bunker isn't exactly "perfect". Luckily the fix is easy and you can still follow this video step by step.
***YOU NEED TO PLACE A SINGLE DOOR FRAME INSTEAD OF A DOUBLE DOOR FRAME WHEN SEALING THE BUNKER***
The DOUBLE door frame barely clips out of the 2x2 core allowing it to be destroyed from the outside and compromising the bunker. This is only if the honeycomb on what the "front" of the base has not been placed. However, if someone were to attempt to offline you, raid through that side specifically, there is a chance (albeit a very small one) that some 1000 IQ gigachad takes advantage of this or the frame be broken through unlucky splash damage. I'll make sure to be more thorough moving forward. My bad guys 😅

Replace the double door going to the TC or the one going to the top of the building?
Hey man I've got a few other tips and tricks for this, you can replace the refinery with a pixel bunker, without really changing the design. And also regarding placing the peaks later, you can turn mouse sensitivity off which can help for people struggling. Let me know if your interested in more info.

This is a life saver everyone else seems to build on flat land and that completely compromises my builds because I tend to build inland but you showing on a un even surface oh my goodness thank you for your hand work and good videos please make more
I never did these types of bunkers because they seemed too intimidating to build and I was scared I would mess up due to how complicated other RUclipsrs make it seem, the way that you showed us makes it seem so simple and it really is.
I can wait to see the expansion because this is by far the best bunker base I’ve ever seen.

Would enjoy seeing you expand. Great tutorial. I liked how you did it on real terrain and explained things for real wipe application. Not just build server logic. The way you did it helps people apply it in game easier.

This is the gold standard for rust build videos
Really great build. Although i would place the small oil refinery outside later instead of inside the base, otherwise that side is only 1 foundation away from practically core. If a player see’s the two foundations sticking out in the unfinished form of the build, they could imagine a smoil refinery there which means they would know that it’s a relativly cheap way to blow in.

Hey dude, nice bunker & great vid! - Just to let you know:- Where you was trying to place the door frame and you came to the conclusion it wouldn’t let you place. Once you’ve placed the single door frame below(the one we use to seal and open the bunker) it will then let you place the door frame and still allowing the bunker to work all while adding raid cost if they go through doors! :) just fyi if this hasn’t been discovered yet :)
I've built the bunker third floor is the roof access found a way to bunker the top door and front door plus that ceiling you've shown in this video pretty much bunker to both entrance and bunker to core very handy for a solo like me thanks for that ceiling one got it on first try added two more bunker doors two of them opened with that double door twig I had to use triangle floor make the jump up smaller to roof extra protection maybe I'm paranoid anyways lol make sure that shelf is always twig you can put a roof on it break it then half wall twig another shelf for jump up and bunker it was kinda cool just created it less an hour ago both entrances and core had bunkers 😅

I made my own personal design 2 by 2 that extends into a hidden tc in honey comb that is still accessable with 3 different bunkers throughout the base with tight nit spacing making it hard for rocket raiding due to small space to work in unless you blow through walls which your actually going to have to anywaya due to it having 3 bunkers
has this been patched, im getting 65% stability instead of 22% ?

I’m just gonna say from the birdseye view, the scenarios you show BY EXAMPLE, and the SLOW teaching has me hooked.
Everyone should do this while teaching how to build!
Too many people skipping place to place and speeding through the build and expecting us to slow the video down is annoying. Because RUclips rewind is 15 seconds when double tapping it gets mad annoying rewinding figuring out what’s happening sometimes.
So this is great for viewer retention as well as my sanity!

If you wanted a 2nd floor frame, you can achieve that by placing the bunker frame on the first floor first, then you should be able to place the 2nd floor frame .. at least, works on my machine. Also I've implemented this type of bunker with pancake / roof honeycomb .. just make sure you use half walls and place them from the outside looking in to the base if that makes sense .. A couple of wipes ago I managed to use this with 3 layers .. pretty OP

awesome video mate, one question I'm guessing its okay to upgrade the square frame in the bunker past stone? I don't see how the material would affect the bunker placement but just wanted to double check as I'm in a fully armoured core looking at it now lol, thanks for the help appreciate it
Absolutely. It’s all about what you can afford. You can upgrade all the way to hqm and it will still break when you break the twig. Just remember it cost 25 hqm every time you upgrade that floor (last time I checked at least). Glad you enjoyed the video!

I can't get any of these bunker types to work and I used to be able to. Is it because of force wipe Dec. 7? Someone help me please.
Ive styl got a problems to seal bunger, did everything like in the vid, but 1 of a 10 im able to place that square correctly to have it on 5% stability, otherwise its 87 % its annoying
mine wont work for some reason, can never get the 2x2 roof to 20% always 60%

How do I get into the base after building the honeycomb
is this patched? I can get the pixel gaps, but it seems that when placing the wall and two ceilings that the stability is not right..
Where u put the small refine I put tc. Behind a half wall or store front.
My bad, accualy if i stand where is WB place a wall frame then im able to put 5 procent stability square, and btw at 11:00 when you talking bout that wall frame, you cant do in 2nd store, ive it and everything works...so hopefully after restart server there will be no issues with bunker, like other bunkers may have
the frame on the second floor isn't able to place because the first floor one needs to be placed. Once you upgrade the second floor frame, you can remove the first floor frame and the bunker will still work.

I had issues with placing the roof to finish the bunker not sure what I missed
10:50 you can also fix the walls not placing issue by placing them through the ceiling from the first floor, this is usually what I end up doing.
also. the wall you said you will not be able to place, is placeable you just have to put the twig wall underneath, and then build the wall ontop of that. It will just be a very low stability, but if you build your shooting floor on the third floor then you should be good anyways.
i cant get the roof to snap to 22% right at the start. had it been patched?
does it matter if it doesnt show the certain percantage that you tell me?

after i make honeycomb i cant seal bunker it work's fine before the honeycomb and the stability on honeycomb is all 92
The only thing I don't like about this bunker is the "open" core, you can't add a garage door into the frame for the bunker. Not sure if Evil Wursts "Serenity" 2x2 bunker isn't the greater option despite fully losing the bunker square...

Hello. Is this some kind of game or is it some program in which this can be done because you didn't write anything about it? And a layman like me, when he watches it for the first time, doesn't really know what's going on...
When i build this base i get a lot of "too close to another building" messages when placing new walls around it. Stability is normal and it works without bunker.

You should probably use single door frame to seal because the double door clips out and can be distoyed from the out side. Also one weakness to this bunker if some one go for the wall for the bunker all the roof tiles will be distoyed
O and I'm you place twig you should posbley place the second floor frame
Where does the double door frame clip out? Also you are right, destroying the wall the two ceiling are connected to would also destroying the ceiling tiles but at that point you already in core. What matters is the one ceiling tile that won’t be destroyed is the one over your tc.

Does anyone know why the stability on the floors that are supposed to be 5% and 22% would become 34 and 55 after adding the honey comb?

Really nice tutorial video. Was looking for quite some time for something like this but was this recently patched ? I tried it multiple times on both vanilla and sandbox servers and with no luck. i have the pixel gap between the foundations, but when i place the roof it's not at 22% stability but at 65% :(. Is it still working ant is there something wrong that i'm doing ? Keep up the good work!

Awesome explaining throughout the entire video/build. I just have one question, isn't only 1 HQM foundation with direct core access? Does another honeycomb layer would be preferable, at least to hide the 2 triangle HQM from sight on the outside?
You are correct. I included the refinery cause I saw a lot of people copying a popular player (posty) who does this. You can 100% place a regular square foundation and leave the refinery outside the base and still have this bunker. With the refinery, assuming you also have 2 garage doors and a sheet metal ceiling, the total raid cost would be a guaranteed 24 rockets which isn’t too bad. You can always expand on the base on that side if it worries you. Hope this helps.
@g_street thanks for the reply! Yeah i ended up putting a foundation instead of the refinery and from your 2nd video with the peak gap, i used wall instead of double door frame (except for the one connecting to the base) so it adds another layer from the corner. Keep it up !
