Father had one of these, #28 (#18? maybe? I don't recall). Was a green car, home was back in Waukesha County, WI. Prior he had an 85', with a 420cid Lingenfelter engine, Carroll Supercharging Paxton super charger. - I drove that two tone blue 85' car to a 11.79 in the quarter (with drag radials on the stock 16" wheels out back). It would bust the Goodyear GSC 275's at 70mph on the freeway. I would drive that car all day long with no anti-lock, no traction/stability. THIS CAR... This car scared me. entered the freeway from hwy 164 on to interstate 94 in THIRD GEAR rolling from about 25mph. I hit 92mph before I could finish saying "holy shit!" That car scared me, I really didn't enjoy that driving that car, left that one to my dad. RIP dad. He sold it back in 2004 - 2005? I think? I can't recall.
I think I've seen the more recent car you're referring to for sale. It has had it's fair share of owners over the years and last time I saw had around 80k miles. I bet it was a blast to drive. If I were to ever own one I'd be very careful on who I let service mine.
@@Texas_Cruiser He knew the owner of what used to be an Oldsmobile dealership in Milwaukee. Arrow Oldsmobile. They turned to Brookfield POntiac (before going all Hyundai). It had pretty decent miles on it when he sold it. It had been on several out west road trips.
Sorry, it may be the fastest recorded by those guys. It’s not the first street car however, the first street car is the Chevrolet Corvette back in 1988 when Callaway put his twin turbos on a stock, Corvette drove it all the way up to the track went 254 mph and drove it all the way homestill 225 miles an hour back in 2001 cars today. Can’t go that fast. These guys are awesome with their Corvettes.
@iPROFITDON and even if it was impossible, i do not think the limitation would be gearing.... i think the Corvette Lingefelter ZO-6 may have the right gearing to do it. not all cars have the same gearing, so to say just beacuse the Venum Viper or the, Ford GT can't do it beacuse they redline, it does not mean the Corvette Lingenfelter ZO-6 cant. the issue here would be how long the tires would last, they would probably be toast... and with the right tires and gearing its a good chance.
I wish Jeremy Clarkson would have tested this car back in the day. It would have been sweet cakes to see the look on his face when he mashes his foot on the floor. But knowing Jeremy, he'll probably still find something wrong with it. But it will take him a hell of a long time to do so.
Searched this up because there is a ligenfelter twin turbo c5 for sale near me its a stage 1 550 hp with 30k miles and clean its a 2002 the man wants 18k for it, he also has all the paperwork for it and all i have a supercharged c6 grandsport, so i wont be getting it but for the money its a good deal.
He must have never shown all the times he blew up the differentials into c5's in the early C6 is even with all the DTE braces and built differentials back then they would just detonate off the line in the quarter mile the thing that stopped in was the rear end Mount that went across the whole cradle that helped big time from these differentials exploding bias ply tires
@iPROFITDON well thats not exactly impossible, i find it more than possible, with 1,300 Rear wheel HP? thats a lot of power! the Corvette Sledgehammer made its top speed record of nearly 255MPH with only 850-900HP... this car gets 1,300HP on race fuel, and 1,518BHP with 28LB Boost in addition to race fuel. it is probably more Aerodynamic than the sledgehammer was in addition to that.

@iPROFITDON first... i do not think the Corvette Lingenfelter ZO-6 with all that power would use a stock transmission, second, who says the Corvette Lingenfelter ZO-6s top speed is achieved with 5th gear? i don't see any records of that... im going to PM you and enplane this a little better than i can with only 500 characters...
@angryace13 Gearing is a major issue. When I say the same way I mean 6th gear. Even with 1300rwhp with gearing long enough to get to 226mph in 5th, 6th is too tall to pull. I used the Viper and Ford GT as an example because they both have that overdrive 6th used to get highway millage, they all reach top speed in 5th effectively. The ZR1 an exception. It would need extremely long 1-5 gears to attempt 300mph. Race transmissions is a different story :}
lol they had to run it at the strip with 16 psi tires. Your basically driving with flat tires, imagine the friction and power to push that car. Better if they added drag tires and order the largest tire you can or special rear rims that would hold a bigger tire.
@angryace13 The difference in aerodynamic drag at 255mph and 300mph is massive. Think the what, 1200hp SS built for top speed, more aerodynamic than a Corvette tapped at 267mph. Besides the fact that the a Z06 would have a pretty good chance at going airborne before 300mph. Not to mention they have trouble keeping the engine healthy doing mile runs, a run to 300 might be a bit much. But, I take that back, nothing is impossible, just highly doubtful .
