Thank you for your clear explanation! One question: how about a cover with changed lyrics (that is not a parody)? Does that fall into the "Fair use" category?
I don't take credits for someone else vocals or kicks and synths in my sample packs I buying. I only takes credits for the beats and the things I made out of the sample pack. It's my own composition. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
So under a compulsory mechanical license, if I’m covering a song that uses a major scale, am I allowed to change it to a minor scale (the cover song still uses same lyrics and melody)?
Hi JamMob, thanks for the helpful info! What is your take on the fact that for STREAMING platforms you don't even need a (mechanical) license anymore since the streaming platforms handle the royalties for you? Would you say you don't need ANY kind of license anymore if you upload cover songs for STREAMS only? Cheers.
What if I used a KSHMR sample or any other royalty free sample and I want to copyright my song? Then it's going to claim all the songs that used the sample. How to fix this thing?
Hiya! Loved the video, until I discovered I can't register on Songfile as a european. Any clue on what to do in my case when I want to release cover songs worldwide?

You should be fine as long as the samples are royalty free and don't require attribution.
Man i wish sampling was easier like using under an x amount of seconds would be considered fair use would be such a great thing
Thanks for this iwas looking for it for while
No problem. Glad it helped!

Dang he doesn’t go over google Ad Revenue. How that works with cover songs. Distrokid gets royalties for mechanic. Not sync.
what about making a remix of remixed version of a song? does it still work the same way?
I want to sing Yesterday by beetles and play it can I just go for Creative Commons?
