I firmly believe that we as thinkers and intellectuals need to keep up the good fight and speak truth to power, so, Ed and Scott, please keep doing the important work that you're doing for society: listening to and advocating for young men who have felt left behind and should not be left to "bowl alone". Anthony, thank you for speaking truth to power and sharing your wisdom with us. It's much-needed.

I agree with the Professor when I hear him talk about the crisis with young men. My son died at the age of 29 and I know the struggle was very real for him in the 90s up until 2015. However I find it very hard to understand or believe that American women could possible think that the far-right example of men and Trump is one worth voting for to help their son's character development and place in society. If that is true we really are in Gilead.
I'm done with pollsters, pundits and the mountain of trash that accompanies any political campaign. More than anything, I'm disappointed in the widespread inability among American voters to rise to the level of critical thinking skills to necessary to understand how government and economics really work, along with a lack of ability to separate truth from propaganda and fiction in a fractured media landscape. Paltry consolation, I know, but you're not alone in feeling that way at the moment. The prospects ahead are bleak indeed and seem to have a surreal and frightening inevitability to them; especially in the wake of the stunning rebuke to sanity, or even just basic decency, that was delivered the other day by countless millions of deeply ignorant, utterly confused, woefully misinformed, irrationally fearful, aggrieved, resentful, surprisingly stupid, and yes, also a not insignificant number of bitterly hateful or racist people... for a multitude of "reasons" that often don't make sense. There's some serious soul searching that will be (and very much needs to be) going on in the U.S. (but not only - it's also happening in other places around the world) over the next several months, years... who knows how long?... about the shockingly deep pool of awfulness (which is to understate it, because turns out it's more like a veritable aquifer of toxicity) that Trump is perversely hardwired (or maybe it's genetics!?) to tap into and draw his energy from (kinda like the battery he fancifully imagines powers one's body - seriously, I am not making that up, btw, this is how stupidly childish his imagination really is - no insult to children). Sorry for the rambling. Just really feeling the need at the moment to vent - a lot. It's just all so hard to process. Especially when so many other people are blithely oblivious to the catastrophe that is about to unfold, in real time. In the worst case scenario, one that will finally provide an explanation to those of us boomers who grew up never really being able to get our heads around how a ridiculous clown like Hitler and his malicious gallery of incompetent rogues and thugs could have ever fooled the people of Germany into going along with everything that happened afterwards. Never expected to see the answer being delivered on the news every day. Seems hopeless and dire at the moment, but don't give up. Somehow or other, we'll find a way through this impending shit show. At some point reality is going to kick in and assert itself in ways that are unavoidable... Meanwhile, chill - don't want to sound flippant, I know it's hard - and struggle to find enjoyment wherever/however you can. Also, start taking action and get involved with groups or organizations that are committed to pushing back against this bullshit agenda of fascist nonsense. Again... don't give up. We lost a battle, not a war. The fight has to continue and just surrendering isn't an option because these evil f*ckers don't give a shit about people like you and me.
Scott is successful b/c I can tell he had real focus when he needed it and had mental resilience, i wish he would emphasize those necessary strengths upon his young viewers and co-workers.
